Good video question can you do that to a porch floor that is made out of Portland cement type 2?
I am trying to sand out a small slab in my backyard that has some uneven spots. Can I uses these pads for outdoor concrete? What do you recommend?

Question, if I add black color powder to the cement and then I polish will the black/dark gray color still show after I sand? Or will I get scratches with a different color. Thank you.

Hello i just want to ask what other things should i purchase before doing this kind of process. I am planning to do a diy using an orbital sander to a cement floor like this one, based on my reseach i need to buy a backing pad( velcrow or hoop and loof) and replace the existing pad so that it si suitable for concrete project. Is that true or the preset backing pad is enough?
Can I do this on a concrete patio? is all bumpy and uneven
Roughly how much square footage do you get out of each pad? Can they be washed to extend their useful life?
Hard to say, as we are still using the same set a year later. We've probably sanded the equivalent of 300 sq. ft. over this time here, but the pads still look near to new. The velcro backing on them is the only thing that seems to wear, and that only happens if the pad isn't seated really well onto the sander. We normally sand with water (spray bottles or sponge to apply water as we go) and so that probably prolongs the life of the pads.

Where can I purchase these diamond sanding discs?
I have a cement ceiling that has been covered in 1/16" to 1/8" of textured drywall mud to match the adjacent walls. I have removed as much of the drywall mud as I can and am left with a light haze of drywall mud. Will the 120 grit and 220 grit work to remove all of the remaining haze so that I can get a pristine ceiling of cement? trying to get a loft style look. I could email photo. any info would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, these diamond pads should cut through the top layer of the cement surface, which sounds like it would remove the residual look left from the drywall mud!
Do you not grind with a diamond cup and angle grinder first? Thought it would speed things up?
Diamond Cups (Turbo Wheels) are generally a bad idea. Way too aggressive for a countertop. The diamond sanding discs do a great job for minimal touch up and overall profiling, prior to staining and/or sealing the concrete. If you want to polish deeper, and expose sand/glass/rock in the concrete, then you would want to use a polisher tool and resin diamond polishing pads, which will aggressively cut through the concrete. www.expressions-ltd.com/collections/concrete-polishing-and-grinding

Thanks for the video. How should the concrete feel after a 200 grit sand? I did a steel trowel finish on mine and there were some spots that feel grainy, like rough sand. It feels pretty much the same after my 200 grit sand: Smooth in most places, gritty in a few places.
It should feel pretty smooth. You might want to try sanding with water as well, over those rougher areas and may help cut through the sands you are most likely feeling.
Great video. Is the sander a variable speed one? Would you recommend using one with no speed adjustment? Need to do a small bathroom floor and I’m debating myself if I should by a polisher, thanks !!!
We would suggest a variable speed sander yes. When using the diamond pads without water (dry) it's good to lower the speed. When using with some water, then you can speed up the rotation as the water will help them cut and reduce heat buildup.
Great video! What rpm do you recommend using on an orbital sander when using the diamond disc?
Medium speed on a sander works well. If you have good, aggressive Velcro 'hooks' on your sander, then you can seat the diamond pads really well to the sander, and then sand at full speed if you need to (works best to use a little water when sanding fast to keep the pad cool). If you don't have great Velcro on your sander though, either upgrade it (like these on Amazon: amzn.to/3dfxiYH ) or just sand much slower to try and keep the pad seated and not burn off the Velcro on the pad!

Do you have any recommendations on a low-priced orbital sander at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace? I’d prefer to buy something than rent, so I have it for the future. But I don’t need anything expensive or heavy duty.
The ideal choice is a cordless with heavy duty Velcro like these on Amazon: amzn.to/32tTp7N. We have a few of these at our shop and they work great. If you want to save a few bucks, there are cheaper sanders at that link above too, just make sure you get a variable speed version so you can slow it down.
Isn’t concrete dust extremely toxic for the lungs and requires a filter on the sander and protective gear like a heavy duty mask?
Yes it is. Water will alleviate the dust. Wet grinding/cutting will inhibit the airborne crystalline silica from flying in the air. You can still wear a mask, but the water will trap the dust and instead form a slurry.
