Jon, Like you I put little pieces of tape over the 4 tiny light leaks. since they're at each locking tab for the face plate I thought it was just a fitment/design issue.. This was fine in the cooler weather when I first started using my V1 goggles a few months ago. Then it heated up and I found that the when goggles would fog up they would not clear very fast even with the fan on max. Removing the tape solved this. I think those light leaks are actually exhaust ports that allow the hot moist air OUT.. Anyway if you have fogging issue try removing the tape.
Jon I have been flying the EV 300O goggles for about a year now and absolutely love them. They are made by sky zone for Eachine I am a glasses wearer and the focal adjustment is more than enough for me. I would like to see the benefits of running the 2nd module and quadversity, because most of the time now when I am racing I am using my dock king ground station plugged in to my goggles and video is awesome
For the lense being too close to your eye lashes: I just got thinker padding for my HDO2s. Works perfect and my goggles are even more comfortable to wear.
I got the thicker padding as well, but still hit my eyelashes (i guess i just have longer eyelashes). It was flyable, but not as comfortable as my skyzones, or the older HDO was.
@@JonE5FPV Yeah, me too! I went from Eachine E800 to the Commanders. They're still awesome in terms of reception, but I kind of wish for a higher resolution. These Skyzones are still quite steep, though.
Jon, when you're talking about the DVR and you have the flight footage behind you for the race what camera and VTX are you using to obtain that footage right there cuz it looks pretty good to me... Thnx
Interesting…. All the negatives of the Skyzones was why I chose hdo2s and as for the negatives you mentioned of the Fatsharks they don’t bother me. I use the dvr exactly for what it was designed for, to find lost models.
If you didnt care about DVR, or the improved oleds, i could see how some prefer the pedigree and classic looks of Fatsharks. I myself bought 2 sets of HDO 2 after the skyzone were released. Finally tried them, and i do prefer them better. But I remember thinking of skyzone myself as a "Budget offering" as well.
I've been flying HDO2's since they came out. Upgraded from the Eachine ev200d goggles. Overall very happy with them. If I were buying analog goggles now I couldn't justify the price with an option like these skyzones being available. And the fatshark dvr does suck. Just got the shark byte receiver on its awesome sale. Great review and comparison video. 🤓
I started FPV right when DJI digital came out and SkyZone 03O was getting great reviews as a top notch analog goggle. I bought the SkyZones and have loved them.
I still absolutely love my o03's. I love the comfort feel and all the on-screen menu options. Great fan too. They are my backup goggles now, but I absolutely still love them.
I use HDO2s and DJI goggles. I'm pretty happy with both, although I've never used anything else. I use an immersionRC powerplay for my DVR and as a battery pack, I like it a lot.
The powerplay does work well, i used one for a while, but was a little to lazy to carry around and setup the extra users. If you were a fatshark user and wanted improved DVR that is the way to do it for sure.
I have both Fatshark and Skyzone. My issue with Skyzone is that the quality of plastic used is not as good as Fatshark, especially when you fly under the sun. I noticed that all of my Skyzone goggles got hairline cracks near the face plate, lens and the buttons, probably due to the heat, compressing and expanding. The features of the Skyzone was indeed better, but for long-term use the build of my Fatshark seems to hold much better than my Skyzone. My first goggle was the Skyzone 02x galaxy colors, same issue hairline cracks. It still is usable and functional, but atleast upgrade those cheap plastics
Still rockin HDO2S with Rapidfire, but would like a better DVR. That said, mine are all about flying, only share video for competition entries. Not fitting Fusion is an issue as I was considering switching with new possible features in V3.
Deal breaker for me is no Fusion on Skyzone. I'm seeing some reports on the FB groups too that their Rapidmix receiver has some rolling image issues with certain analog setups.
Man.. I've been waiting for Orqa2 for my analog only kit... your Fatshark synthis is about right... they just seem to be lacking... I do not like the lenses too close. I'm thinking of doubling up the DJI, they are fine when I put them on, but during the flight they get closer and I lose focus. Many of my punch outs are me just adjusting my goggles. I already have a fusion... I hope the Orqa2 drops soon. Since I doubt I'm buying anything this month... Been spending too much on motors lately... I think these are the go to if I need to buy before then. Sorry Fatshark... as a Redcat owner... this is a bummer. you'd put the picture quality higher on skyzone over orqa? my Mumble ramble comment... you're welcome...
Ditched Fatshark over a year ago and went Skyzone 03O (04 wasn't out yet) and when I buy again, it'll probably be Skyzone again. Nice look at the gog, thanks Jon E5!
You made the right choice, skyzone has come such a long way! Nice to see people that listened to community finally getting recognition for giving us the features we want.
I just got these goggles and i love them! coming from box goggles ev800d... at first i was going to tape up the light leak holes but i dont actually notice them while flying and i think they are there for ventilation.
Another point worth considering is what happens when they break? Who’s got the most reliable customer service? Who can we depend on to look after us in a reasonable amount of time? I’ve owned Skyzones in the past and their customer service was poor. Fat shark customer services whilst a tad slow at the time was a much easier process.
It is a fairpoint, and i think its hard to argue that behind DJI, Fatshark has the best customer service of any of them, perhaps even better than DJI. It could be that some users that dont need the feature enhancements, would prefer the better service. I did for a long time, thats why i owned 3 different sets of HDO 2 and 2 sets of HDO. But in the end, features i needed just werent there. But there is some risk with owning product that may not have a US based service center.
Fatshark customer service has an awesome reputation because their products keep breaking lol. From blackscreens, DVR not working straight out of the box, noisy or broken fans, to screens freezing mid flight, I lost count on how many people I know including myself that had issues with the Fatshark goggles and got in touch with the Customer service. I rather be flying instead of waiting for my goggles to return from a service center. I haven't had an issue yet with my Skyzone 02X in the last 2 years and no issues so far with my 04X either (cross my fingers).
lol im still using viper box goggles, about to spend the money on these , have never had the chance to try anything but box goggles so im sure they'll be better. i hope
Thanks for the review. What would you recommend though. the V2 for 520$ or V1 for 365$. Im a beginner so im not sure what all that DVR stuff is good for on me. It's just for recording right?
All the modern googles have removed the custom diopter option. Astigmatism is not catered for any more. I just use my DJI v1 now with module, and have a sweet DVR
I might be the only person in the world still using my Skyzone Sky01s. No DVR, no module bays, 35 degree field of view, and 480p resolution. Damn things refuse to break so I can’t justify the cost of upgrading to the 04x to my wife. First world problems, eh?
i'm in need of new goggles...been rocking thee HD2 since 2016 i'm guessing. i'm curious on the comparison of these to the new orcas as i will use them for HDzero and analog...Hoping you got some insight as i'm really scared about the orca FOV and being it doesn't do 4:3 is a big turn off for me.
IMO, if you want better features, like the FPV connect, or comfort, or better overall feel of the product go orqa. If you want max oled field of view? Skyzone. Both have great dvr and are equal on that piece.
@@JonE5FPV I’ll take FOV any day unless you tell me the Skyzones just don’t fit well at all? They look like they feel similar to fatshark Also I’ve been waiting to see if skyzone comes out with a newer version of these but not sure what could improve.
I have both, SZ04x for analog and hdo2 for shart bite. Don’t forget FS was first for oled and SB. Rumor is a new goggle about to pop. Not in our interest for them to go away.
It will be interesting if they come back with another industry leading product. Can’t count them out yet, but so far the last few have allowed skyzone and Orqa to make the pass
Did you mix up the annotations for Rapidfire and Rapidmix? I thought that throughout the comparison, the Rapidmix was significantly better then than the Rapidfire. Rapidfire has a constant breakup and static, while Rapidmix was steady all the way.
Confirmed its correct. Up to the user, for me i noticed the rapidmix breakup slightly more, but it may have just been in my head. Its close enough, that some may prefer rapidmix as well. I may have to keep trying back and forth more.
@@JonE5FPV I'd conclude that they're both pretty good. Since the goggles come with a receiver (and they're quite expensive), I'd just leave it in and not upgrade.
tried them all, sticked with orqa and rapidfire! i have orvel diopters made for my plus 2 prescription and there just the best fit for me, but i would be just as happy with skyzone where i really didnt need any diopters.
I agree 100% with everything you say. I currently fly Orqa with Rapidfire & Sharkbyte. My backup goggles are Skyzone o30 goggles. I sold my HDO's & V3's a long time ago and don't miss Fatshark at all. IMO, Fatshark rips us off with old outdated designs and obsolete electronics. I don't agree with the guy at the end of the video saying that the optics on the Orqas are deficient in any way. I have flown with HDO2, ORQA & 04X goggles. The screens are virtually the same and the optics for me are best on the Orqa's. I wear prescription Diopters. With all that being said, I do like the Shark Byte mounting system on the 04X goggles instead of using 3D prints with 3M 2-way tape to secure the Shark Byte RX to my Orqas. If 1000mw Shark Byte VTX's become available soon, I might switch my whole fleet to Shark Byte. I am seriously considering getting a pair of 04X goggles to use with the Shark Byte rx. I'm going to wait a few months to see the new Orqa V2 & pro goggles that are being released.
Giddyup! And yeah, its so strange, because Fatshark had such a commanding lead, but they just stopped listening or adding new features, and allowed everyone else to catch up and pass them. Feels like they are becoming blockbuster in a netflix world now.
Looks very tempting lol. I would really like to see the duel modules video. My current goggles are the ev200d and I had issues with them syncing up with the vtx's always had to change channels back and forth. Looks like I'll be saving up for skyzones they look really nice and the dvr looks way better then my ev200d but that probably doesn't say much 😂😂. Great video👍🍻
@@potatopilot16 I gotta finish my first build before I can get any more fpv stuff lol. Had some major issues and went way over budget. I figured out what was up with my goggles. The ev200d has dual modules also and they are specific to each side. I switched them around and they great now 😂😂
... I need to stop watching this channel 🙈😹... You guys sold me on the OpenRacer frame (which I love btw and just bought 2 more)... I've been contemplating these goggles for a while already lol... I appreciate that you guys just say what you like the best vs. the typical non bias make your own decision format most channels take 👍
Thats awesome! How are you liking the openracer? Sometimes it is a little tricky to define a "best", but when there is a clear winner, we def dont mince words. Appreciate the feedback.
Using same terrible dvr for one thing generation after generation counting on selling “new” goggles to customer base over and over again with minor improvements. It was so frustrating and sad to see them build the industry only to see them squander all the market share and good will they built up by choosing to continually to ignore customer base. Skyzone didn’t even have to be “great” just listen to a few of the requests and they end up better by default.
@@JonE5FPV they Should lower the price if they use an amortized DVR. I don't think that counts as scummy the support has been best in the industry try to get warranty or repair from Skyzone? The FrSky D8 and x-fire support would qualify as Scummy.
I just bought the Eachine 300O which I figured is a really good goggle and should last for awhile so I don't need to update for awhile. It has 30fps which is good enough for me and oled screen etc... Skyline and Eachine are the same IMO anyway. I'm just missing out on 60fps which I can live without for what I do.
Good choice! yes, those are made by skyzone. And really just as good. the diff in DVR isnt that huge with the higher frame rate, the increased quality is already there in the 30fpv version compared to fatshark.
@@JonE5FPV yeah I sold my skyzone O2Cs and Cobra X goggles to buy these eachine 300O's. Pretty good upgrade in my opinion. The Cobra X were pretty nice but just don't care for the box style. And the O2C's were good a couple years ago. I sure would like those new Skyzones, but I'll make do with my new upgrade. I really don't fly enough to justify it anyway unless I could get a really decent price for my 300O's and add another $100 but I don't see it happening.
Should we be calling them analog. They have analog module and pair them with SB and you have a great digital pair of goggles. Imagine if they release a HDZero module.
Haha, this is like the day people can finally talk shit about fatshark since someone else finally beat them and did everything the community asked. It was like watching a sad but inevitable but still reluctant departure of fatshark. I agree. There's no reason to be a premium stuck up brand like fatshark when there's a company that listens and makes the products that FPV wants.
Sorry would never buy skyzone they are more cheaply made the shell and parts i could care less about dvr. With all due respect this is just your opinion. They can keep there module also its junk i still think fatshark are made better with my fusion
I think most users prefer the $100+ savings in having to buy a module, better optics adjustments and better DVR options. But if they didnt, then Fatshark is still a safe option as long as you dont care about those things. I did note, that the plastics shell on the fatsharks does seem a little nicer.
Yeah its not like its "bad", they just kinda stopped adding new features other than better screens, and skyzone made the pass. Hopefully fatshark will come back strong for the next gen.

My current goggles are the ev200d and I had issues with them syncing up with the vtx's always had to change channels back and forth. Looks like I'll be saving up for skyzones they look really nice and the dvr looks way better then my ev200d but that probably doesn't say much 😂😂. Great video👍🍻
Go for it dude! I had ev800ds and am waiting on my sky 04xs in the mail!
Sad story. If the tbs Module was supported it would be a nobrainer.
I run quad versity and I swear by it
When they sell it without a module for like $70 less, then maybe!
What do you feel like is the better alternative?
@@JonE5FPV I only meant that a lot of folks already have modules, so maybe they should consider selling them without a module for a bit less.
also, orqa doesn't have adjustable focus
Yep, makes it more difficult to get the perfect image unless you have perfectly spaced eyeballs.
just ordered will make a nice addition to my DJI V2 - Thanks
speak the truth
!! skyzone is way better
We will see if fatshark can catch up again, or if skyzone will keep adding more and more features.
@@JonE5FPV let's see.!! They may have a hd goggles in the work!
Phatshark Scummy how?
Skyzone is the best…
It has improved so much
15 dislikes from 15 Fatshark owners :)
Haha. Exactly!
Lazy ... scummy LOLLLL 🤣 so good (and so agreed)
I have to disagree with all due respect. SkyO4X are way better than HDO2 IMO .
Love my skyzones x04. My best fpv purchase in like 3 years.
well i still love my hdo2's even with some negs nothing but love ❤
Yeah its not like its "bad", they just kinda stopped adding new features other than better screens, and skyzone made the pass. Hopefully fatshark will come back strong for the next gen.
