*Cody run out is very unique thing in. cricket. Unlike Baseball it's not the best to run every time u hit the ball in Cricket there is no such compulsion. You can stand at batting box and don't touch the ball whole day u wills still be safe and even if u touch bthe ball no need to run. There will be some damage to team's total but that depends on what format u are playing. If balls are limited like 50 over and T20 then it's best u score and run as many possible and sometimes batters try to steal run and get run out such runs outs are excusable. But in 5 days test if u get run out it's a crime coz u have hundreds of ball to play there is no need to steal runs just run when u r safe coz there is whole day to bat. U kinda have unlimited balls so why endanger self or team. You might have lots of questions like why fielders throw at certain end than other to get run out. It's all communication and quick reflexes they get from their experience. They generally throw at non striker end than Keepers end coz guy reaching keepers end always has a headstart like 3-4 feets so he mostly reaches safely. And it's the hitter that always struggle to reach the designation but sometimes fielders only target certain strong batter they want that guy to be out so they will throw to the end he is running to even if there is little chances of running him out . It's batter who makes the call as per his hit and safety but sometimes while he watches the ball in the field he forgets to make call or gets hesitated and by the time he says something the other guy is already close to him and there is no option left but one guy has to get run out* Dhoni was the guy who stole lots of runs but hardly got out. To the unimaginable horror he got run out in the world cup match and India was ousted. Cost of that run out is too high for Indians if he had made it India could have significant in 2019 WC. South Africa lost a golden opportunity of getting into Finals in 90s because one guy forgot to run and was watching the ball Africa since then never been to finals and semi finals utterly weird fact. These run outs are sometimes pure killers.
In running, one partner Calls for it and other has to follow trusting the call. Out of both batsmen, who is more close to getting runout, will call for run or not to run, because he is risking his wicket. Plus he has better sight of ball. Confusion occurs when No one calls or both of them start watching ball without looking at each other.
Basic coaching for juniours , call loud , only one of three words , yes , no and wait , also when the ball is hit forward in the V in front of the striker its the strikers call , when the ball goes in the V behind the striker its the non strikers call , sometimes though , at big matches the crowd noise can drown the call
The confusion mostly occurs when one of the batters is ball watching and not looking at his partner to decide on the run. And there is a saying in cricket, "never run off a mis-field."
*In T20s and ODI u will definitely see runouts coz player try to steal extra runs and every single run counts. But in test you will see run outs are less common. But indeed players get exhausted and become slumpy and find it hard to run on last days of test . Some batters bats for days and by last day they don't show up in field 😨*
The spikes beneath the batsmens shoes are smaller ( As per specifications ) so it doesn't damage the pitch when they run on it...but sometimes they may not get a good grip when they run on the grass
That second one was bizzare, Watson was on 93 when he got out and it wasn't even his fault. But the strange thing is that his partner Simon Katich got out on 98 in that match and in next innings Watson scored 120 and won man of the match.
These kinda miscommunications happen when one of them is too focused on where the ball is and not looking the partner at the other end. The key is to focus on both the ball and the partner. When ball goes behind the batsman (striker) (losing the sight of the ball) then he has to rely and listen to the 'call for run' of the partner at the other end (non striker) who can see the ball clearly. If the ball goes behind the NON-STRIKER, he has to rely and focus on the STRIKER's call for run.
Often when the wicket keeper throws with gloves still on, it sticks in the glove a bit upon release. Most keepers quickly take the glove off to throw for that reason. Sometimes they dont get time.
6:04 This actually wasn't a Run Out but a hilarious midfielding by everyone involved. I remember watching this live as a school kid, Sachin Tendulkar (सचिन तेंडुलकर, select Marathi in google translate) is on strike & his partner on the non striker's end is probably Anil Kumble (ಅನಿಲ್ ಕುಂಬ್ಳೆ, select Kannada in google translate) & Sachin was probably batting close to 200 personal runs. Later I think during the session break they even showed this in black and white with comical music as it was considered to be a comical display of fielding. It's possible the ground here 9:05 & 9:30 could've been wet after a rainfall 😂😂 This was a hilarious video. There are some other funny videos too.
9:39 When the 2nd batsman ran for second run and saw other batsman is down, he quickly wanted to stop and turn back. And he was on grass, the reason 2nd guy fell down.
In almost all of these clips the batsman was looking at the ball and not the partner. That's what the coaches warn you about, "don't look at the ball, look at your partner." Communication is a big part of cricket especially batting, a simple Yes or No call can make the running process very simple. I'm from Pakistan and there were some clips here of Pakistani players, one player in particular Inzimam was famous for getting run out every other game.
Wow, they are so ruthless nowadays, sometimes its best that the collision ones the stumps arent broken in the spirit of the game. The great Viv Richards, the most competitive player you could find, while bowling refused to break the stumps after the ball ricocheted off the batters bat at the other end straight back to him while guy was out of his area. Wouldnt happen nowadays
Doc, glad you responded I have heard very positive things about you and my son before sick would share your posts with me on the TV (because I am old and blind) truly glad to have you here. Dave
Cody Reacts thanks dave, you've made my day :) , very kind words thank you, i'm a big admirer of anyone wanting to learn something new out of their comfort zone, and always here to help.
Best funny run outs you would get from Pakistani team.. They are the worst communicators with each other. Best ones are from former Pakistani captain Inzamam Ul Haq. I a amazed to see that Inzamam was not on the list. Damn when I an down and low I see his dismissals to laugh. 😂😂😂
Two players ends upon one end because when one player commits to the run but other doesn't(after initially committing to the run) bcz he believes if he runs he will loose his wicket, he is throwing his mate under the bus. It's selfish on part of that player.
Are you watching highlights of Eng vs NZ test series... 2 days have been over of 2nd test , watch day 1 then day 2 highlights available on channel " England and Wales cricket board".
We do not judge here by country or religion etc. no one forces people to be here. No reason to take a dig at Americans. I do not see one American who even spoke to you or said anything bad. Only 1% of our supports are American and they do not leave negative comments on cricket. They actually have my respect because they wait patiently for their music videos since we were putting cricket first. This makes me want to ask my son to switch to more of a balanced daily videos of sports and music mixed. You are actually ruining it for cricket fans. My son and I are cricket fans and I play on a team. But I do not want to have to write a paragraph because you do not take the time to educate yourself. Have a better day and weekend. Dave

Communication and trust in your partner are main things!
This happens most often when both batsman look at the ball rather than looking at their partner
The ground was slipary because of Rain. So they just slipped

It happens bcoz of miscommunication or no communication.
Another big reason is they just keep their eyes on the ball and run.
9:39 When the 2nd batsman ran for second run and saw other batsman is down, he quickly wanted to stop and turn back. And he was on grass, the reason 2nd guy fell down.
sometimes they dont run at all, because batsman at the non striker end is not a good batsman but a bowler, this happens in death overs

The end on which the batsman bats is called "striker's end" and the place where his partner stays is called "non striker's end".

It's a situation when a batsman can't focus on both between ball and other batsman.
