    Always learn something new from your videos! Did not know that the 1/4 inch foot was 1/8 inch on the left side!

    I know this is an older video but very timely for me as I am having trouble with the scant 1/4" and your explanation of the various feet really helps! Thank you!!

    Thanks for a great video - I really appreciate the close-up of this kind of foot as in some of my other machines, the 1/4” foot is straight all the way down the foot. I would have really goofed with this indented foot😄😄

    Where can you get the quarter inch walking foot attachment? I have not seen it at the baby lock sight.

    Very informative video-thank you. I was hoping that you would also mention the Babylock dynamic walking foot which also has three different feet to do the 1/4 inch plus stitch the ditch capability.

    Enjoyed but wish you would have discussed the black button on a couple of the feet

    • @HayesSewingMachineCo
      @HayesSewingMachineCo  2 роки тому +1

      That black button will keep your presser foot flat and stable without moving like a hinge.

    Wish you showed the stitch setting for sewing.
    Is any stitch better for piecing on you opinion on Baby lock ? I have the Brilliant. Presently I’m using the 1/4in pressing foot, and my setting are 3.5 mm which places the needle right on the center mark and my length is set to 2.5mm.
    I noticed that if I change to stitch #26, the length changes automatically to 2.00 mm.
    What do you recommend and why ?
    TYIA.

      Each machine will be slightly different stitches. However for your Brilliant #26 would be perfect, as that is actually the piecing stitch.

      I have one more comment and question.
      No matter what stitch I chose, unless I use a “lead” my sewing starts with a thread nest on the back side. I tried to avoid that by putting the needle down before starting to sew. Still, the nest is forming. I watched lots of videos and many professionals use a “lead” to avoid that.
      My question is… did you get that when you did your sewing in this video and just did not show it to us ?
      If you did not get the nesting… what’s your secret for that ?
      TYIA !

    how can you get the 1/2" seam foot to work when you are piecing different blocks together so the 1/4 fabric at the seam does NOt get caught and destroy your perfect seams.....its nighmare with the guide

    • @HayesSewingMachineCo
      @HayesSewingMachineCo  2 роки тому +1

      They make different types of 1/4" feet for a reason. Some of it depends on the machine, some of it depends on the project, some of it depends on the pattern, some of it just depends on a person's personal preference. If you don't like the results with 1/4" foot with the guide, than just use the regular 1/4" foot without the guide. Use whichever one makes it easier for you to quilt.

    I can't stand my baby lock destiny the only thing that I can use it for after 3 years of owning it looks like it's going to be free motion quilting drives me crazy. I bought a dookie because I have a foot on it which is a scant quarter foot and I can use the side of the foot not some little narrow protrusion in the front I understand what you're saying in your video but also I'm looking at the manual and I'm not being able to relate the numbers of the feet and the letters on the feet with the manual so I don't know which foot is which except for guessing the look of it which is the one the quarter inch with the guide and I hate the guide so I don't know what the hell I'm doing. I'd like to throw this machine out except it cost me a lot of money.

  • @emcbabe

    Frustrating! The only foot that comes with the Destiny is the 1/4 inch foot with the guide, which doesn't help when sewing HSTs. After my salesperson at the local quilting store told me there weren't any other 1/4 - inch feet for the Destiny, I emailed a rep at the Baby Lock website. She told me there were five, BESIDES the one with the guide. The clear one, the (BLS-QF, which I bought, one called BL66-QF, and one called BL37-QF. She sent me photos. When I looked up BL37-QF, the Baby Lock website showed me this part number was a buttonhole foot. Someone is wrong! The descriptor text for the BL66 and the BL37 are exactly the same. I don't like not being able to use the whole side of these feet, rather than the front part of the foot. One more question, besides needing clarification on which parts to buy: you showed sewing the left side of the fabric with the 1/8th inch metal piece. How do you sew the right side of the fabric? I'm now sorry I bought the Destiny. There is not discussion in the manual of reaching a 1/4 inch seam with any feet besides the one with the guide. I figured out the turning the corner, and I know what the screw on the BLSO is used for, but the manual is useless. I've used the needle to move into the right position for a true 1/4 inch and a scant 1/4 inch, using the J foot. Now I'm using my Janome - easier. thanks, Ellen

      Sorry you are having troubles. I saved all the feet from my Brother machine and they fit my Baby Lock. So I have different kinds of quarter inch feet, one plain, one with the blade. My Baby Lock is the Brilliant. My Brother was a Laura Ashley computerized model. We have a great tech at our dealer who answers questions. Maybe ask a different dealer.
