The reason they didn't do a sin video for Beetlejuice is because you can't sin a perfect movie. It would basically be "Opening credits SKIP Oh, look! Lydia is floating! The end". Colin (real name: Phil Wang) and Barbara (real name: Charlotte Ritchie) were both in Taskmaster, with Phil being in series 7 and Charlotte being in series 11. 11-7 is 4. A 4 letter word describing Wonka is "cute".
Willy Wonka doesn't need a backstory - he just exists, for the purposes of the original story, as this mysterious, reclusive, eccentric, slightly sinister figure. I watched the 1971 film again this Sunday past, and that's the version I'll stick with - nothing beats it.
I don't mind Wonka having a backstory, but this isn't it. Neither was it him having a hardass dentist dad who could literally relocate a brownstone condo. If the Burton version only showed him going into the jungle to enlist the help of the Oompa Loompas, I'd have been fine with that. But they wasted Christopher Lee in the lamest way possible.
Reminds me of how Disney tried making backstories for characters like Cruella de Vil and The Mad Hatter, even though part of what made them interesting was leaving some things mysterious and unsaid. Coming up with an explanation for every little thing cheapens the whole story and this is something modern Hollywood is horrible with
I agree he doesn’t need one, but I can completely believe this, especially with the mention of the rival chocolatiers from the og film. It’s a very sweet film.
Surprised you didn't mention the fact that my main man William will put actual live insects in his chocolate, allow people in the city to drink chocolate that he and a child were swimming in, and allow his friends to eat years-old chocolate that has been who knows where BUT his travel factory has hand sanitizer. Dude, why is _this_ the moment you start caring about health and safety regulations? It's sort of the same as the way he takes away people's free will (you can't tell me those Broadway chocolates don't), gives two people (at least) severe alcohol poisoning, steals a myriad of things: balloons, giraffes milk, clothing, and cocoa pods, but taking a pint of milk from not-plot-important characters is absolutely off the table. Why is _this_ the moment your ethics kick in?
If we stick with the premise that this took place in Vikki times, of times milk sold at that time usually had alot of crap added to it...sheep brains, unclean water, boracic acid, etc. so basically, if you didn't see or do the milking yourself, don't trust it. Hence why he didn't steal the bottles milk

Add a sin for pointing out that the chart was for a calendar month, but it's misspelled "CALENDER". (You even placed a pointer directly to it.) Not to mention, no baby giraffe for a nursing momma one.
That said, I found this film to be a lot more delightful than I expected it to be (like the sort-of-related Paddington movies.)
13:14 that's not a cocoa bean, it's a cocoa fruit, inside there is a lot of beans (seeds). The more you know. :)
Ok, but, Mr. Cinema Sins missed a prime spot at the end to input “nothing rhymes with Noodle” and then cut to Mickey Mouse Club House with the “Ohhh Toodlesss!”
Just sayin….
That thumbnail killed my sides bro haha, but still imma need you to sin Titan A.E. and Eight Legged Freaks
I'm glad other people also hold their breath through breath holding movie scenes.
I tried that during A Clockwork Orange once. Didn't go well
Just watched the movie a couple days ago... to be honest... I really loved it. Was silly and ridiculous, had fun songs, fun visuals, made me laugh a bunch more than I expected and I can't say how much I adore cartoonishly evil villains. It gave me some Live Action Cat in the Hat vibes (In that the movie doesn't need to make sense, it was just fun). I recommend it!
This movie was so good. They put every little detail together nicely and it wasn’t a pointless prequel or anything
The film was just ok for me, but Olivia Colman’s delightful performance is the highlight here and thank you CinemaSins for removing a sin for the queen.
Olivia is indeed a Queen.
Ah finally, all the important bits of the movie without having to actually go see it
The sequel to Wonka is much better. Snowpiercer is the best movie in the wonka world.
I love that theory.
In the willyverse
that's not a sequel that was something you found out in a theory
@@QuantumKenkaku Not to be confused with Grindr or unsolicited dick-pics. 😉
I would only watch this for Atkinson and Colman - probably the best parts of anything they're in
Ngl, I would buy that flamingo sticker. I'm still traumatised by the flamingo craze of 2022.
im not even 5 minutes in and I'm CRYING!... i think im actually having more fun watching this than the movie itself.
Man you guys are gonna have a hay day with all the opening logos in Late Night With the Devil
Your channel is the first thing I think of when I start getting pissed off at a movie I thought I would like, like this one. Also, if they're not feeding the giraffe then there wouldn't be any poop /s lol
10:45 how did you know I was crunching on popcorn 🍿 you wizard
lol
If the police chief accepts chocolate for bribes then Wonka should have bribed him with his own chocolate which is far better than anything the police chief will get from the cartel.
Imagine it being THC chocolate😂
add a sin for making me laugh at the mouth of Sauron 🤣
I can't wait for the sequel where they battle the unknown.
Please do an Everything GREAT About Wonka. I loved this film.
I watched it with my sister and the second there was singing I turned to a stranger as soon as he did and we both mouthed” is this a musical” 🍫
I’m surprised the fact that “oompa loompas don’t negotiate” yet works was offered a deal for half a jar of hover chucks instead of a full jar of chocolate, was not sinned
Film Fact: Timothée Chalamet got sick multiple times during production due to how much chocolate and candy he had to eat.
Or how much ass since the movie is ass. Respectfully 😂
He clearly should've spoken with Will Ferrell, because he also got sick a lot filming Elf for the same reason.
@@mallios13 That is true.
@@mallios13lol
WHOA.
**'Wonka' appears**

Viewer: **mentally checks out**

19 minutes later: Oh, was I watching a video?
❤️ Chalamet. ❤️ Wonka. Hated the incessant singing, but my nephews loved it.
“I ruv ru raggy” caught me so off guard and I lost it
So that's what Leto from Dune was doing. Making chocolate and selling them on the market like he did with the spice.
If he sells anything with "cinnamon" in it, you know what it is.
Notice The Last Coin Wonka Loses Is The One Charley Uses To Buy The Last Chocolate Ticket
Stop capitalising every word.
@@Cowboy_Frog This guy hates capitalism.
Wait for real?
I swear CinemaSins did a video on this before...
As a movie/show snark myself, I’d love to have someone like y’all to watch movies with. Lol Finally somebody who doesn’t side-eye and sigh when I comment on stuff.
I better be seeing that bumper sticker on the Cinema Sins store in the coming weeks~
Wonka's father Count Dooku was proud of him and his accomplishments despite their differences.
*SIGNATURE LOOK OF SUPERIORITY*
And all this.....this ....... CHOCOLATE!
Pants will now be referred to as "leg bags" from now on.
Finally, someone else who hates salt on candy. Thank you, Jeremy
Jeremy u made this movie more interesting, than when I watched in the theater. I can’t tell you how many times I fell asleep during it. Painful to watch 😖😖😖
In the outtakes, with the “poison” scene, you should’ve played the clip from Clue where Mr. Green goes, “Maybe he was poisoned!” and then Mrs. Peacock starts screaming.
I got a Wonka ad before this.
"Despite not putting any singing in the previews"
Uhhhh, like half of the previews was just singing. It was super obvious that this movie was going to heavily feature singing.
I'm sinning CinemaSins for not knowing how cocoa pods/beans work or look like.
Instead of this film, they should've just made a movie of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.
I actually would've liked to seen that. It could have been really interesting.
I've always wanted a film based on that book, but apparently after Roald Dahl saw the original 1971 film and hated it, he said that he didn't want that book to be made into a film.
@@dannyboydoh Does his estate still sit on the rights?
@@jonathanmarkoff4469 I couldn't find anything to indicate that it does. However there was an article from 2019 that stated that Netflck where going to be making a Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator movie, but I guess that was scraped.
14:55 "In an upsetting turn of events, 'Wonka' was featured on the Kill Count."
The Aristocrats reference was awesome!! Well done!
Thank you for the Taskmaster reference
youre right about the laundry song being remembered, its 🔥
13:12 That is a cocoa pod, the cocoa beans ,I believe, are located within said pod.
Dude, i was scrolling for so long just for someone to say this!
I once tried to hold my breath during Men Of Honor on TV when they put themselves into the diving suits full of water. I did a pretty good job, but couldn't make it through the second commercial.
lol
I have no idea why people liked this movie. Granted, I'm biased as I'm not a fan of musicals, but I was so bored I bailed after 40 minutes.
It is a good movie, some people love musicals, why would you go see a musical if you didn't like one?
wow
@@ThatOnePlatypusGuy It wasn't advertised as a musical.
@@jonathanmarkoff4469 bro didn't watch the trailer
I haven’t even watched yet but I already know this is exactly what I need right now.
Phil Wang (Colin) and Charlotte Richie (Barbara) were both in the tv show "taskmaster". Phil was in season 7 and Charlotte was in season 11. So the four letter word I'm going to use to sum up this movie is "daft".
Trying to come up with an Archer style 'Meowschwitz' joke for the giraffe...the best I can do is, "It's like Belzneck in there."
Did I think this movie was needed? No. Did I think it was necessarily good? Not really. Was I able to enjoy it and turn my brain off? Yes
I haven't seen the movie, had no intention of wasting any of whatever time I have left here watching it, and this video cements my decision. Thank you!
Be careful around CinemaSins, he spreads alot of misinformation alot of the times, I suggest actually watching the movie before watching this guy.
This movie really had no idea what the point of the original story was.
It is suitable for a sequel/prequel/reboot or whatever to have a different point, otherwise we'd just have the same story over and over again.
