Personally I feel that Black Candle should be able to prevent Magic Skin from coming back over and over. It's an anti-curse item, and the Magic Skin in it's source material was basically a curse.

If you have black candle when ever an item spawns you should get a choice between that item and magic skin and magic skin should not be able to kill you

@@jkayne0435 yes but the difference here is that strange key Pandora's box is one of the only items that spawn items from random pools, not just from treasure room or room pools

Reminds me of Spice from Enter the Gungeon; tempting to use and abuse, but you might regret it later when the after effects become apparent and nothing else is spawning.

yeah except spice is only good, the loss of heart and curse increase really isn't a big deal

An easter egg for Dream Catcher that would be cool. Imagine if you used Magic Skin, and then the Dream Catcher sequence showed what you would've gotten, then glitches and shows Magic Skin? Dream Catcher would be showing you that Magic Skin is actively replacing aspects of your life whilst you sleep

Now I want to see if the Lost/Tainted Lost can spawn multiple items if they use Void with multiple magic skins in it.
One thing I've noticed that I don't think you've mentioned in either one of your videos is that using Lemegeton after having used Magic Skin has a chance to spawn a Magic Skin flame, that I don't think does anything

While Magic Skin is haunting you, there is a chance that using Lemegeton will spawn a Magic Skin flame.
As long as you have this flame, Magic Skin will not respawn/replace any item.

The magic skin is a reference to Honoré de Balzac, with the book "sorrowful skin"
this item is already high risk/reward enough, there's no reason it should act like spice from gungeon
You can think of it as a good thing though, not many players can do this now but there are a few ways to heal broken hearts and therefore it respawning In the future can be turned into a good thing

Another thing I think should be made public: Uranus and Death's list prevents the bonus from ever disappearing. Pretty sure this Uranus thing also works with anything that activates when killing an enemy. Haven't seen anyone cover this yet.
I've found Death's List to get along poorly with several new items. I recommend not picking it up (unless it's free) until it's fixed.

While Magic Skin is haunting you, there is a chance that using Lemegeton will spawn a Magic Skin flame.
As long as you have this flame, Magic Skin will not respawn/replace any item.
About why this happens, I guess there is a passive version of Magic Skin (with its own hidden ID) in the game
**NOTE 1**
I just tested whether Magic Skin will disappear when absorbed and used via Void. The answer is yes.
And that means you cannot exploit this combo with The Lost, Tainted Lost and the Lost form of Tainted Jacob.

Is the respawn chance exponential? How many times would I have to use magic skin before nearly every item is magic skin? these are the questions we have to be asking ourselves
according to platinumgod, it wont go beyond 50% after 12 uses.
I cannot confirm it though.

I genuinly thought it was a bug. I found it over and over again. In every item room, after every boss fight, in every angel deal room, curse room and secret room. I was lucky I had the D6 or I would have got no real item
Question: When you have a broken coin container with the Keeper, can you just get back to three containers by picking up a normal health up? Or does the broken container lock you at 2 containers max?

In technical terms, does each use of magic skin just shuffle some copies of itself into the item pools for everything every time you use it, or is it using some other replacement method?

If you holding magic skin it will never appear again.But when you see it and not holding it,items will reroll by a chance to magic skin.The chance start with 1/12 and down to 1/2 on 11 uses.

The only time I would take this would be the lost or maybe t jacob because I would be going lost form to steal devil deals
So taking a respawn item with the temp heart kills you, as does gaining a heart container....so would 9 lives just kill you 9 times?
9 lives kills you on pickup, but leaves you with 8 more lives which will be taken when you pick up an item, update your max health (health up pill e.g.), or normally die. 9 lives giving you 1 Red hp also means you get a hit in before dying, which is nice. I just died in a run where all of the above happened, and then when I still had 2 lives left, the game killed me anyway because I was in the second knife piece room trying to get to Mother but, I assume since the game "removes" your items in the mine escape section, it "removed" my dead cat, despite still displaying my "x2" lives. Gotta be the most impressive way the game has killed me to date.
There is a way to remove broken hearts I forgot what it was called but it works like a blood donation machine but instead giving money
It Will get your soul heart or an angel chance boost but if you have a broken heart it will remove it instead of the other two

imagine this: im using azazel, i get the soul regeneration book on first floor and discount soul hearts are on sale the next floor, the 2nd floors item room has the soul converter, i get 9 more red hearts, 2 floors later and i find magic skin, i dont use it, i clear the floor and get an angel room and i spam magic skin in the angel room and i keep buying bateries

this item seems to be the worst item in Isaac except as tainted jacob (for now) because you lose heart to get an item, but have a chance to cet magic skin again, in some way it s like losing an item ... for (tainted) lost it s not that bad because you can move in a devil deal or god deal to get an item from those pool, if you have a lot of health maybe it can be good, but really think it s a very bad item to use since you keep it and can t have another active item or leave it to get it again; however I like the idea, but it seems unplayable.. it would be great if you don t get a broken heart, could be a risk reward item like playing with the devil deal
Why is it important to include that dream catcher can show you if it's in the next floors item room? Why include it if it's a normal, expected behavior of an item?
Makes you know that it would be a wasted key, and also buffs your chance for a planetarium I suppose. I believe magic skin does replace an item you would have gotten, so the possibility does exist that dream catcher would show what you would have gotten, just to be slapped in the face by magic skin

you used it 12 times meaning you have 12 broken hearts, you can also only have 12 hearts a time. Broken hearts take priority over normal hearts, and since you have 1 normal heart, but 12 broken hearts, the 12 broken hearts will override all hearts, even if you have 1 heart, 12 hearts, or 100 hearts.

@@adelinehaley9428 you're not supposed to be able to use magic skin / other broken heart items without the consequences of having broken hearts, so therefore you cant use extra lives or eternal hearts to save yourself
There is one way to save yourself in that situation. Is having an algiz rune and a confesional. With both you can remove at least one broken heart and thats all you need to keep playing.

No, Void can't use items that can only be used 1 time like for example mama mega, diplopia etc.

NO! not working w/ magic skin proves to me that the majority of changes and mechanic decisions in repentance are anti-fun. So many missed opportunities and annoying "fixes".

I understand this to an extent, but considering that repentance has brought the game to the best states it’s ever been in and seriously makes me actually want to finish most/all of my runs now that most items are actually viable instead of “Hold R for good item,” I feel like this mindset is very ignorant to a lot of the DLC’s additions to the game.
