hiJulia, my husband and i definitely encourage you to stick with your job at American. things are bound to improve and you will be glad you stayed, between the two of us we had over 75 yrs, seniority with United, and had some of the best times of our lives flying and traveling. So try and hang in there!

Julia, the earlier comments were from my wife, Karen and she was touched by the comments you made about loving your job! We did, too! We are both retired now and always look back with very fond memories of our years as F/A.
The best advice I can give you is to know your contract!! Study and make notes of as much of your legalities as you can. Underline work hour limits and legal rest times as these are the issues that crew desk try to work around in order to cover trips when they have coverage problems! Not all crew desk are like that, but some are, so stay informed about legalities.

I just finished reading "A Perfect Marriage" by Jeneva Rose. It's a murder mystery where the husband is accused of killing his mistress and his wife is his defense lawyer. It's a good book. Probably not as " murder-y" as what you normally read,, but a murder mystery still.

Hey Julia! Just got back from a quick trip to the west coast of Norway with some friends, where we got to see the beautiful fjords and mountains. Me, my friends and family usually travel to different countries in Europe, but covid is still making it hard to travel abroad. It was a great experience though - you don't always have to travel far to get a nice change of scenery :)
While I was there I finished reading One Of Us Is Lying, which you inspired me to read, and I loved it - so thanks for that :D Wishing you all the best for the rest of this reserve month.

About 50% of the times I've stopped at DFW there was inclement weather. Sometimes with ground stops. The place is a magnet for thunderstorms.

During my aviation career I've opened the door once to an occupied room. It was late and the person was asleep, but woke up. Needless to say, I beat a hasty retreat. This was in Montana and the hotel still had keyed locks. As for key cards not working, I can't count the number of times I've had that happen.

I've worked in the same retail job throughout the pandemic and we are seeing the same thing! Keep your head in there, stay connected with good work friends, and take care of yourself. It really is not easy right now.
OH GEEEZ!!!! That is so frustrating! I remember decades ago our union telling us that they would NEVER allow those types of all-nighter trips to be built and flown & now look at what has happened! Then the hotel staff mistakenly giving you a room that was already taken, YIKES!!! Amazing that you are still always so pleasant and smiling through it all.

Julia, to you and all flight attendants working right now, thank you for all you do! People are behaving so badly and that definitely should not be part of your job description. Honestly, I would think your job is tough enough with the changing schedules, weather delays, traffic control issues, etc. Just know that you ARE appreciated.

I was flying that week too. It was insane. Ground stop in DFW meant late departure. On arrival into DFW we were told there was no place to park on the airport so we had to divert. We went to AUS and a storm hit right as we landed. Ramp was closed so we had to sit out there for 3 hours. A 3 hour flight turned into 10! Got to the hotel at 3am. No reservations! Didn't get into a room until 5am. The next day we finally got to DFW but they were still recovering from the storm so our inbound never made it and they decided to just cancel and send us to the hotel. It was the worst trip I have had in my career. Also, ODANs suck! I will not do them and they should be illegal. That's all there is to it.

Brilliant vlog! It was definitely a tough time you had. I don’t miss those days! Glad that you got to see your loved ones to cheer you up! How can anyone stay sad with cuddles from lovely Luna. Not forgetting that lovely breakfast!
My bad days, somehow were always when I flew from LHR to CDG or MXP or FCO. Something always went wrong. Last one was when they closed all but one Southern UK airports - LHR/LGW etc. And diverted us to LBA. They had to find taxis for 900 pax and crew at 21:00 on a Sunday night for a 250 mile journey to LHR, as no coaches were available. And LBA is a really small airport! 😫 Take care and have a great weekend!

@@JettingJulia it was a few weeks before Christmas. Not many hotels around LBA. So many diverted flights to major cities close by, they were booking all the hotels in those cities (MAN/LPL/NCL) The plan was for hotels for all, but they soon realised they couldn’t get the rooms. The pilots ran out of hours, so couldn’t fly, so that was out, just in case LHR reopened. It was -3c, and with only uniform, it was freezing standing around! I love these memories. Hated it at the time, but love them now! Take care and thanks for the lovely vlog! Best wishes from LHR!

So sorry for what you went through with the hotel unfortunately in the hotel industry there are miscommunications between the departments in every hotel. It’s too bad that you had to go through this

Very good video! I have a dog named Joey. He dosen't carry my clothes, but he does carry his favorite toy around the house, and if you're sitting on the couch, you're required to play fetch with him. He sooo insistent, and with his big beautiful eyes, you just can't say no. I have two king Charles Cavaliers. Joey, and Charlie are my very best friends, well my wife is first in line for the title, of course. So, the big question... I will guess you are going to Romania. Just a guess. I used to travel extensively before I retired last year. I lost count how many times I've had problems with door keys. It was a frequent problem. It always seemed to happen when I was exhausted and just wanted to crash.

All of the storm seem to be the epic saga of summer travel. I don’t travel until October but already had to rebook two flights for the October trip and one for the December trip both on your airline because they cancelled my original flights and the schedule didn’t work for me. I’ve been traveling for four and a half decades so I know what doing.

I'm glad to see your busy. You are happier and it shows. The 'storm' looks mean; I wouldn't want to try to fly thru it. I know what your saying Jetting Julia; for ever 16 hours we are on 'duty' we have to have 8 hours off or the DMV could suspend your certificate. You have to admit, going up and down the stairs multiple times is a good workout. I notice your fond of stair masters.
Hopefully you have a smooth and relaxing work week to follow. I just came back from Nashville and arrived at the 10:50pm flight and I was hoping you would be working my flight jijiji We also had a few hours layover in Dallas and we did a little sight seeing and thought about you when I saw Taco Cabana ❤️

PS, my childhood dog had a fixation with socks. He wouldn’t take anything else, but my family had to make sure we didn’t leave our socks anywhere he could reach, or else he would take them in an instant and we would have to bribe him with treats or a favorite toy to get them back. 😂

If I've had a long day, I know for sure that something like that door key fiasco would really frustrate me too haha. Also the person in the room should have said something and saved you the trouble of coming back there so many times. Your trip to Europe sounds like it'll be a good one and I'm excited to see where it is !
