The model looks great but the best part is the build. The incredible ways the designer connects elements and makes them look good and fit perfectly at odd angles or just reinforces them. It made me stop and marvel over the clever bits I would have never thought of myself quite a few times.
I think the green plates are there to place the engine on if you want to display it seperately. 13:02 you probably put them under those 2x1 black plates. or at least, that's what I would/will do.
I like to take it apart like the seats windshield lights tires ect. and stuff them into the cargo container of the 42078 Mack truck and drive it around
this is my favourite video you have done. it is so funny like when you say the stick of doom in the pros and when the car must be small if Richard Hammond can't fit in it
Thanks for the great review. Some very interesting building techniques are used in the model. This is going to look great next to the VW Van and Mini Cooper.
Much much better than the past Ferrari cars. I see lots of improvement as well as minor flaws which can be certainly avoidable. Box seems professional not appealing as they want to emphasise more on the Car itself. The instructions is really something I will keep like a certificate of some sort. Overall, the F40 lego recreation model is gonna cost and I think that new micro parts should have been introduced to shape up the front of the F40 air vents and give it more curves. Thanks for the review man! Really detail, fair and realistic opinions! :D
Thanks for the review, Sariel. I've been wanting to build an Expert model for a while, but have never really cared for any of them, except this one. Don't know how I didn't see it until now...
Just build it. I have some Architect sets, and mainly Technic sets. I have some old Model Team sets. But nothing compares to this. Yes, some pieces are maybe over-simplified, but it's modeled in such a clever way that it has nothing to do with standard Lego building techniques. It is instantly recognizable. And although it lacks steering, it's sole purpose is to put it to display imho so it doesn't matter that much. In fact, it would create more problems to the modeling than it solves the playability. Great, great piece to put together. And how cool would it be to have a F40 in the 42056 style :-D
I have a probably unrealistic question considering the cost of Lego sets. In the future, I am interested in getting into build stuff like this because I like designing and making something, but on a budget. Would you suggest just slowly building up a small collection of parts and pieces to eventually be able to make something of it? Or is this something that would end up being too costly?
***** I think the cheapest possible solution is knowing exactly which pieces you need and buying them from Bricklink. Lego sets are technically very cheap in terms of price-per-piece, but you always get some pieces you won't be needing.
I'm very ambivalent about this model. It seem's to be great in most of it's aspects but from some reason, I don't the overal look and feel of it. Eventhough the shape is very close to the real car, the slight differences make huge negative impact. In general, I think that it's main problem is the size, It's to small for achieving perfect design not enough small to be forgiven. I wish they chose bigger scale for this.
Endothermic Madness Perhaps pricing may have been an issue here. The other "models" so far have been things like the Sopwith Camel, the Camper or the Mini, all of them iconic in their own right, but franchised as heavily as any piece of rock with a Ferrari shield on it. Marketing it under the Creator lineup may have been the only way to make the set profitable for them. In Technic, it may have been larger and better proportioned (and Mr. Sariel would have enjoyed building it more in that manner, I imagine), but it would have probably been too expensive and end up in the dark realm where LEGO's Architecture series resides..
No cóż, jestem zagorzałym automaniakiem, i w 13:03 coś mi nie pasowało.
Cant people motorize this by putting all the things in the engine and front bay? I can imagine fitting a battery box (triple A or rechargable), receiver and motors to fit mostly in the engine bay.
Endothermic Madness I seriously doubt that. This car is very flat and there isn't that much room between the rear wheels. I can hardly see fitting a battery box in there, not to mention a motor or two.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den AAA? You can use LiPo battary packs, there tiny. These are the kinds of batteries in laptops, smart phones and smart watches. The only thing I would do is install LEDs into the light sections and bright ones, not the piss ant brightness that were in the LMP car.
I really like the appearance of the technic models! The framework is like a skeleton, it doesn't cover the whole chassis and you can see how complex the set is.
As a Creator set, I was expecting maybe a different Ferrari model. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but the new wheel cover piece could be useful for making another Ferrari model from the late 70's or 80's.

9 years after... This video is so nostalgic and beautiful... I love this! ❤
I'm so jealous you have this set already.. can't wait till august!
Forza doesnt know much about cars from the 80s
Pop up headlights were the rage and they look bloody awesome on the F40.
11:11 Its funny that the exhaust on the engine is pistols xD I was like "Is that 6 wild western style pistols?"
FINALLY!!! THE 1X1 TRANS-ORANGE TILE!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS!!!
I like to take it apart like the seats windshield lights tires ect. and stuff them into the cargo container of the 42078 Mack truck and drive it around
Like for Richard Hammond ;D
Bartek Sienkiewicz Yup!
Bartek Sienkiewicz i miss top gear :(
The orange indicator discs on the back were done in a new colour
Patiently waiting on my F40 to arrive. Cant wait.
Got mine last week. Well worth every penny.
this is my favourite video you have done. it is so funny like when you say the stick of doom in the pros and when the car must be small if Richard Hammond can't fit in it
Thanks for the great review. Some very interesting building techniques are used in the model. This is going to look great next to the VW Van and Mini Cooper.
I got bored one day and took the engine out and put a pf motor in with a differential and now i am trying to come up with a way to make it steer
Awesome set! Ty for the early review!
There's this high pitched sound in the music driving me insane....

Salty the F40 doesn't really have curves
Your hamster is cute. I hope the hamster box thing on lego ideas works!
Thanks for the review, Sariel. I've been wanting to build an Expert model for a while, but have never really cared for any of them, except this one. Don't know how I didn't see it until now...
The title at the beginning of the video says its a Lego TECHNIC set, so when i saw the box, i guessed due to force of habbit Sariel put TECHNIC there
GoldenAce57 Sorry, that's how it ends when you edit videos late at night :)
The green 1x4 plates are for the engine if u are intended to display it
Looks like the green plates were there just to hold the back of the car stable while building it.
I wish they make an aventador or P1 next
I thought the engine was a battery box and I got realy excited
this is much better than the mini especially the detailed and removable engine
+troodon9999 yup
In my opinion, the Lego 8156 Ferrari FXX 1:17 remains the best Lego Ferrari set
I think, the Enzo 8653 (made by Technic parts).
I am not sure if you did a review on it but I want to see your impressions on the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van.
Finally a video the shows everything
Haaaaaamooooooonnnnd!!!!!!!!!!!

Cory the legend that is what I thought 💭
Another great review Sariel. Thank you very much for this!

i should stop watching these kind of videos, they always make me jealous. ^_^
cool set, so much detail for the size.
if it is Creator, it must have B and C model. Are there they here? sorry for my English)
Max Play's Games They are only inside the minds of creative owners of this set :)
Sariel i like your videos much you are the best lego youtuber :)
xXsSPlaysHD Thanks :)
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den what is the music in the video it is very nice
I think you forgot to add those 2 green plates and 1 black one 😀 sometimes can be happen when we are hurrying when building xd
No, I didn't. These aren't used in the final assembly.
0:42 made my day lmao!!

11:56 Where is the wheel of Mini Cooper set
If there was to be an RC mod I think the ending eWorld be removed and all the RC parts would be placed there instead
The green pieces are to hold up the back when building.

Krištof Pučejdl Well said.
It looks extremely blocky the fact its made out of bricks, not technic pieces.

David Rajchman nejsi ;)
love the review and build. btw what music is that in the background?
Hamster has definetly grown from when I saw him on Top gear XD Anyone who watches the old Top gear will get my joke
Hi Sariel, what is the next model you will be reviewing?
Ryan Sze 75082, I guess.
This releases in the U.S. on July 15 if you're a VIP member. Luckily, I am. Ferrari here I come!
whats your gamertag in xbox ? i have one + 360
What is the price of it?
Powiedz mi, jeśli można wiedzieć, czy jak dostajesz egzemplarz do recenzji, to jesteś zobligowany go później oddać, czy zostaje u Ciebie? :)
I lost it at "Richard Hammond"...
:D

Nice vid and car
you can show your lego colegtion pls.
Sry for my bad english
I did. Check my other videos.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den ok thx
"cons: distinctive wheel covers won't look as good on any other car" -- because they are exclusive :)))))))
I just got a lego skyline and its not official licenced or drives :,( lol its huggggeee tho it weighs like 5 pounds xD
I didn't know lego that still works with Ferrrari
Hello Sariel, give me advice-10248 or VW Minivan?
I'd pick the 10248.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop Why?
Mainly because it's cooler.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop I think you pick 10248 mainly 'cause this is FERRARI. (IMHO)
Do you often ask for people's opinion just to disagree with it?
I really want this
Maybe this will be my christmas present... :)
Maybe this will be my birthday present... :)

How long did it take u to build this car
3 hours. That's why it says "building time: 3 hours".
Was it easy to build this car
Moderately easy. The instructions are very helpful.
I like the Richard joke!
Asked my parents for it it was 129$ on Amazon and I only had $78.25 but my moms like il give u the rest. I LOVE my. Mom
I hate the boxy spoiler on this, but it's Lego so I can just take it off!
The original car had a somewhat boxy wing. I like it though
Hello sariel
aha :D
Too bad I don't have a good job (yet) and can't enjoy things like this.
Tank you sooooooo mush
14:53 Ferrari 666 confirmed!
Sariel, what if you had this car in real life :0
DesignJunkie58 Well, I guess I would have no use for it since it's not really suited for regular streets.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Ah yes, but you would get many eyes staring at you :D
DesignJunkie58 Yeah, like thieves.
+DesignJunkie58 He's got many already! At least his arms and hands.
Ile to kosztuje , i gdzie można to kupić?
+Kedro :) Odpowiedź na te i wiele innych pytań możesz znaleźć w jakieś 5 sekund używając Googla albo wyszukiwarki Allegro. Będę trzymał kciuki.
i like this lego Ferrari F40
Does anyone know if there is a B model?
NSXTypeRGTRLM There isn't, obviously. It's not Technic.
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I don't really like creator, I prefer technic. What do you think about the two series, which one you think the better is?
MyFrostee Ideally, I would welcome a set that looks like Creator but has Technic functions.
Spróbuj zbudować IS albo T-34, to radzieckie legendy.
JPProkop LegoManiak Mimo wszystko, to kiepski moment.
-"Not the prettiest box."
Sariel nitpicking at its finest.
how much would it cost
Kyle Parsons Probably £69.99 / $99.99 because that's the retail price.
Jelly!
As you do?
Quite.
Its a good model
Cool !
Będziesz go przerabiał , pod układ sterowania zdalnego ?
lol, you made a building mistake, (But then corrected it)
Presented by Richard Hammond😀😀😀😀
so the hamsters name is richard? didint know that xd
No, it's a reference to Richard Hammond (real celebrity) who was often joked of as the hamster on top gear.
What forza game is that
Darkthehedgehog Forza 5.
Are you sure it isn't Gran Turismo?
Gus Krough Ever seen Gran Turismo run on Xbox?
Never mind, I thought you were making a joke.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den It says "LEGO TECHNIC 10248: FERRARI F40" there's something wrong there... Oh right its a creator set not a technic set.
Wish they made a buggati veyron
Cool
I wish this set isn't going to be expensive as hell⋯⋯
Presented by Richard Hammond: I saw was you did there
It's models like this that shouldn't need stickers.
Exactly, printing them on would be SO MUCH EASIER than putting on stickers...
I want it because its a F40 and I like that car
Im guessing 50-150 on this
HojozVideos Probably 115 due to the 1158 pieces and that Lego tends to base their prices on the first three numbers of the part count.
Joshua Breining Actually $90 which is not bad.
Crzypengu not bad at all
i have 2set this Ferrari f40.1open play.1keep...in the box for display set。haha😄.......
0:42 hahaha LOL
Rich mice be like 10:55
presented by richard hammond. i see what you did there. ;)
fajnego i śmiesznego masz chomika
Building Time 3H wtf
Pyjter Łita I probably would take longer than this.
richard
Definitely Forza Horizon
This stupid set costs as much as the 42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator! (Which has about 2800 more pieces)
Tu la u à copier
Alexander Picard No, I did not copy it.
Too bad it looks so chubby compared to the real super sleek F40.
Cutthroat Bill How dare you say that about Richard ;)
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den Oh, I would never dare insult Richard! He is like a Greek hamster god! He's the epitome of hamsters!
