I think she still believes all of Chad's false teachings. If that is the case, she is happy because she believes what they did was what God wanted them to do . . . she is thinking about her "heavenly reward" . . . and thinking how everyone else is stupid because they don't know what she and Chad know.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a juror writing a book. He didn’t choose to be on the jury, very different than the Becky Hill situation. He went through a duty he was forced into, was minimally compensated for all those weeks out of work, and has a very unique view of what happened. I say good for him for writing a book. He isn’t a servant of the public voted in like the clerk of court in Murdaugh, he’s a man who did his duty, lost a lot financially doing so, and can’t Forget the horrors he saw. And that he’s donating it all… he’s not even profiting.

Crime photos do embed in your consciousness. I saw a number of them when I was 28. Forty years on I can still see them in my mind. I understand exactly what you mean. I was a juror on a criminal case, the crime was caught on camera - we watched a young man say his last words, take his last breaths with his family in the galley - including his mom and children. I still think about the victim and his family almost every day.

Him writing this book might be his way of purging all the feelings he has bottled up over what he saw and heard during that trial. It might be a very cathartic healing process for him since it doesn't seem profit is his motive behind writing it. I don't see how any one of them jurors walks away without being negatively affected by the evidence they had to see and hear. So good on him for finding a way to purge all that trauma and put the proceeds to good use.

When he said he went to Chad Daybell’s home and he ran into Kay and Larry, I believe he is talking about doing that right after Lori’s sentencing. The actual trial took place in downtown Boise, and the sentencing took place in Rexburg, where Chad’s house is. Boise and Rexburg are around a 300 miles apart, and about a 4 and 1/2 hour drive.
I remember that this juror did make 4 and a half hour drive over to Rexburg to watch Lori be sentenced in person. That would also make sense as to why he ran into Kay and Larry at the Daybell’s house. Kay and Larry were also in Rexburg to see Lori be sentenced.

Ask ms becky! It can easily undo a verdict by revealing something the author would not be aware of might be problematic. It might be a small technicality, yet it might result in having to redo a new trial. Lawyers will jump on things like this and dissect every sentence, every word he puts down on paper….and says on camera!
Jurors should keep quiet ffs! They have no idea when are they stepping into it!

This guy didn't even get on the jury he was an alternate when the trial was over he didn't even get picked to deliberate. so I don't think there's anything wrong with him writing a book or being involved with checking sites out and things because he didn't make the decision even though he would have said guilty on all charges. A little bit different than somebody who has deliberated and then comes out and gives interviews and tells you what goes on within the jury room. Anyway that's my opinion

these stories are sometimes cathartic, they see things, hear things, they will carry the rest of their lives, painful, and it is in many cases how to make sense of and heal their own hearts. My ex.I was married to 21 years.was a firefighter paramedic, who saw and experienced things in his over twenty-five yr. career, that I always heard about,it is how they get rid of it so they can move on, sometimes a book is just that.

I agree. Just because we don't know a lot about a jurists' post reaction to a trial doesn't mean that this guy has some sketchy purpose. Lawyers say they want to speak to jurists after the trials to thank them or find out what their thought processes were, but rarely, l believe, care about the effect these trials have on the jurist.
I was slightly offended that this lawyer was giving the side eye to this man's decision to write about this case. That was my take on it anyway.

Local here: The trial for Lori Vallow was held in Ada County (Boise area) which has a population of over 500,000 so I personally don’t think that’s per se a “small town”. They summoned 1,200 jurors to be sure they had enough impartial people. Please also note that Idaho does not allow an insanity defense. The trial for Chad Daybell is now 100% on track for an April 1 start date; no more delays. Final note for those interested: Idaho will be executing Thomas Creech on February 28 at 10 AM. I haven’t heard if it will be lethal injection or firing squad, but believe it will be lethal injection (State said a few months back they obtained the chemicals needed).

This isn’t the first of her jurors to speak-I believe Nate Eaton from East Idaho News interviewed two jurors shortly after the trial, and the defense tried to use part of one of the juror’s statements as grounds for an appeal.
Also, my understanding is that insanity is not a defense in Idaho, so that wasn’t an option for her. However, it was revealed at her sentencing that she was diagnosed with a delusional disorder.

    • @GeorgiaJakes7
      @GeorgiaJakes7 3 місяці тому +3

I heard Idaho doesn’t allow insanity for a defense. They will send them to a hospital until said stable and go shears with trial. She’s definitely one that I think is delusional even though money, sex, and power played a big part. She has never been stable. Her past is one red flag. I don’t see how her friends and family ever thought she wasn’t crazy. 5 marriages?! I have an ex sister in law that I still love and in touch with 10 years after her 10 year marriage to my brother. She’s now on marriage #7. But we all know she’s bipolar - including her. Lori instead was treated like she was perfect. I find it hard to believe her mask didn’t slip regularly. Then she meets Chad who also was fine with murder of children. It’s insane.

There is a juror from the first Menéndez trial that wrote a book. Almost 30 yrs later she is still advocating for them, has shown that she honestly believed them, cares about them and wanted to advocate for them. Sometimes is an honest gesture, now I see it different from court personnel, but the jury should be able to talk the way it works for them. Is a traumatic experience for them too seeing all the evidence and listening to the stories, if they honestly feel writing a book is good for them and do it without hurting the case or someone else, I say go ahead.

@The lawyer you know. It has been stated a few times in news reports that Idaho is one of four states with no criminal insanity defence. Can you expand on that?

Peter in Idaho there is no “Insanity” plea. If you’re incompetent, then you go to a mental institution for treatment until you are competent to stand trial. Lori was in the mental hospital for 8-9 months, I can’t remember exactly, but that “Insanity plea” ISN’T applicable in Idaho. Apparently all the states are different. I only learnt this from watch Nate from EIN.
Nate also did I think at least 2 interviews of jurors almost immediately after the trial.
    Thanks Peter
    Love from Australia ❤

I watched a very long interview of this juror on Hidden True Crime. He is genuine and was deeply affected by this trial and plans on using the book proceeds to create a foundation.

13:01 @lawyeryouknow I found it interesting that when he talks about the defense team, one shoulder shrugs at the end of his comments. That micro expression indicates he isn’t confident in that response.

I think he felt bad saying that the defense attorneys didn’t do much for her case, not that he’s unsure of his comment.

Perhaps. It would have been something I would have explored a bit more had I been interviewing him. I recommend rewatching and just look at his facial expressions and body language. A little later in the interview, when he’s discussing Lori and Chad’s relationship, you will see his face scrunch up, like he smelled something foul. It’s very subtle. It indicates that the thought of those two disgusts him (I think we all share that feeling). I would have explored that a bit more, too.

There is a much longer interview of this juror on other channels. I could really feel this guy struggled thru the trial. Thanks for your thoughts.

I think he should’ve remained anonymous. He may have agreed to donate the proceeds for these two books he mentioned, but is he laying a foundation to create a following so he can write & sell other books in the future where he could make a profit? I don’t think you should gain fame/publicity from serving on the jury. That could be a slippery slope and interfere with jury integrity. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I come from a country where we don't have juries. But it seems to me that it will be inevitable that the jury forms opinions by how the defendant acts and not only of what the evidence shows. Not saying our system is any better God knows our system has its faults.

I hope Melanie Polowski has to sit in the hot seat in the Arizona trial. I believe she knew beforehand what would happen to Charles. She also never reported the children missing, and she lived next door! She has small children, and to me that is scary.

I don't see an issue with a juror writing a book, especially as he's donating the proceeds, as I see that far differently than a court clerk writing a book. Particularly a court clerk that is still working.

I agree that it is good that he is waiting till after Chad’s trial to publish the book to make sure that no potential juror could ever be compromised based on that publication. I really think that this particular juror really does care about the case, and was impacted by it. I don’t know if I missed it but I hope one day they are able to prosecute Chad for his wife’s murder! I’m so glad that they’re going up to her for her ex-husband’s murder, because that was an absolute travesty.
