(LYRICS, TRANSLATION & VIDEO) I have compiled the video to suit the melody on my favourite couple Madhubala and Dilip Kumar by borrowing clips from the movie Tarana - 1951
This is another video compilation on a GEM from Lata Ji's Shraddhanjali - a tribute to great singers of the past. The original song was sung and composed by the great person of his time Pankaj Mullick beautifully penned by Fayyaz Hashmi. Thanks to Lata ji who has revived the beauty of the song.
A legend, an icon, an inspiration, Pankaj Mullick will always be remembered for the songs that K.L. Saigal, S.D. Burman, Kanan Devi, Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle and Hemanta Mukherjee sang under his music direction. A part of New Theatres for around a quarter of a decade and Indian cinema for close to 40 years, he worked in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and Tamil films.

What a soul-stirring song ! It takes me to some other world. What a superb rendering by Lata ji. To listen to the way she renders the words " Mujhe bool jaana " is simply intoxicating. This is undoubtedly her BEST SONG. All the lyricists,all the composers and all the singers, if they combine , cannot create another song like this. I don't go to bed every night without seeing this video at least once. Mukhtar ji, one million thanks for creating and uploading such a gem. May your tribe increase.

Simply out of this world creation by all. Everything in this song is divine Latajee's singing, Pankaj Malik music , Madhubala' beauty. When first heard kept on listening on and on. Picturisation is also too good. I don't know where all such great people went. Mr. Mukhtar deserves every praise for bringing out such a gem.

Original song was sung by PANKAJ KUMAR MULLICK. Latataji sang eight or ten songs in the late 90s which was actually tribute to all great singers...like K L SAIGAL...PANKAJ KUMAR MULLICK....
The name of the album is SHRADDHANJALI ...published by the then HMV. These songs were filmy songs but LATAJI remade it only.

Dawn Newspaper today, Jawed Naqvi writes: "Music composer Anil Biswas introduced Dilip Kumar to Lata Mangeshkar in a Bombay Local Train, saying she would be singing for their next movie. Kumar, an experienced actor and an aesthete, politely probed Lata's cultural background. She was from Maharashtra's Konkan region from a family of renowned singers, Dilip was told, and he welcomed her with a caveat that her pronunciation of Urdu would probably need to be rescued from a possible aroma of daal-bhaat gruel, a regional meal of rice & lentils, but here a cultural idiom.
Lata would later confide how she took the hint and engaged a maulvi to polish her Urdu with flawless diction. That diligent training
elevated her talent and was to reflect prominently in her singing be it Ghalib or Sahir, Majrooh or Shailendra, something that Mohammad Rafi couldn't equal although he read & wrote in Urdu by heritage. Often in his singing the Punjabi tendency to pronounce waqt as wakt was discernible, not with Lata."

Simply too good. I listen to this song by Pankaj Mullick repeatedly atleast 4-6 times in week, it's so soothing , deep voice, very unusual and romantic words . Always thought no one can sing this song but him . Now today I listened to Lataji singing it and , experience that it's mind boggling, too good music composition. It's my favorite song taken ty new heights by Lataji. Thanks for bringing it to us.
