Brilliant review mate I have ordered this headphone amp with Kickstarter at £47 which comes with a Bluetooth earphones and HiBy music app for free but as I always watch your channel and wanted to know your take on this particular dac , your video came at the right time. Thanks again
Brilliant review! I've purchased on kickstarter for £ 45. There's still one day left if I'm not mistaken. I've read that they will implement in the future a feature that allows you to change the tune of their dac. Should have a bass, flat and another I don't remember now. If they manage to do that, it'll make it very versatile.
The S3 also has firmware tunings, bass, flat, treble. Are you going to revisit this? Also the S3 has mic capability for calls while most single DACs don't have. For me with IEMs and being out n about, I'm going to get one. Thank you for the review.
I see that you can still get this for the Kickstarter early bird price of $55 USD, but as of 3 PM Central time in the U.S., there's only 41 hours left. Also be aware that if you buy it from them, it won't be sent to you until it's released for general sale in September.
You do realise that you can change the firmware on the S3 Pro from balanced, which is the out of the box profile, to a profile that either enhances bass or treble depending on your preference.
Great video! - But I have an request... Could you please please please review the new Topping D90SE DAC. (It's different than the old D90, because they made big changes like the DAC chip, the power supply, the clock, etc) I love the way you explain what you hear. I can't wait to see your review of the D90SE - You are very good at it! :) - I think a lot of your subscribers would really appreciate it too. :)
Hi . I am amazed too with what hidiz has been offering lately. I had a question though, you mentioned the bass is not enough for bass heads out there , however can’t it be achievable with the help of eq settings in such scenarios or is it that the dac dongle does not get affected with eq settings . I am no audiophile but an enthusiast who care s for good sound , so trying to learn here 🙂.
If you use sensitive enough earphones/headphones... EQ will help. When power hungry headphones are used, EQ can add more bass but it can't make it sound punchy and energetic the way it is on S9 for example. So quantity can always be added, but sheer punch and slam are out of EQ's reach.
Strange because i got the opposite with the bass, these made my 7hz Timeless sound great with my Xcover 5, which would you say are better for bass at around the same price? you have to think about portability too, the HIDIZS S3 PRO are tiny and make carrying around a joy.
great review i learn a lot . thank you mine didn't recognize the microphone on my kilpsch XR8i , but the 1more Quadrivers work perfectly mine gets really hot , is that normal ?
thanks for the review man....Does this have a companion app to control volume or to have more flexibility over volume? Also Please review the shanling UA2. Thank you
Please can you check if this device work well with the bit perfect of USB audio player pro, i have problems with the hidizs s9 , the volume goes immediately High and never change
Hi Bro . I need your guidance on this , I plan to make a DAP using a iphone 5s and attaching this S3 pro to it as a regular fixture since it's minimal to the eyes , however want to know if it would power my headphones as follows . Focal spirit one . Akg 375 The seller of the dac insisted to go for a s9 pro but I am resisting it because it's supposed to be a battery hogger . I remember you saying that the S3 pro can power up low impedance head phone s and I believe both the head phone models mentioned above are of a low impedance. Need your guidance. 🙂
Ive just ordered a new pixel phone with no headphone jack! I use the KZ AS06's everyday straight through my phone's jack via Tidal, so I've bought this as a way to continue using my earphones. Should this sound better than the standard DAC ?
Nice review iiWi, u described the s9pro sound as i hear it on mine. Just one question did u also have problem with stuttering sound on the s9pro when used with an android?
It supports it and that's it, not much to say about it. MQA doesn't really bring any improvement to the sound quality (it's actually worse than true lossless hi-res files) so I advice you not to base any decisions on that fact unless you're passionate Tidal user. Even then, Tidal app software encoding and hardware encoding are basically of the same quality.
@@iiWiReviews So we can assume that listening Tidal over the S3 pro and listening regular spotify over any other similar, but non MQA dongle, is the same quality or experience? As a consumer, the advantage of those MQA dongles would be basically for Tidal using, If not, it makes more sense buy a non MQA dongle with different features. For example, more power, physical buttons and etc
this is a very poor product with very poor audio quality, too much emphasis on the highs. nothing to do with audioqueat Red and Cobalt. money thrown down the toilet.
Ordered one last week, form factor and low battery draw were key. Lastly, can you stop promoting proprietary snake oil like MQA? MQA is trash meant to make others rich and music fans poor while providing ZERO sonic benefits.
Your approach is really good (all your content). Well done!
Agree!
I truly appreciate the way you approach these things, thanks again for not changing.

Exactly. I've got mine there and gonna get some freebies. Very nice. Did you read they'll offer different tuning for the dac via software?
@@carl_oak yes just got an email today , there are 3 different way of tuning
Shut up bots

I saw about that in their Kickstarter page and I hope this really come soon!
Best review ever. I was curious how it compared to the previous S3. Appreciate the comparison
👍🤗THANKS FOR YOUR HELP and I have an order of the S9pro on the way 🤗 THANKS TO YOUR REVIEW 🤗🤗🤗😍😍😍
Looking at getting an SO pro too for use with balanced cables to get 2x output 👍

Was looking for something to beat my current favorite spectra x. Hoping the s9 pro is better. The s3 is close but not better sounding
Can I use this between my iPad and an integrated amplifier or portable Bluetooth speaker with aux?
i have a lenovo laptop and the in built dac is crap. how good can this device be with my laptop mainly going to be used for amazon prime movies
great review i learn a lot . thank you

any way to hook up any of these dongles to the iTouch?
I wonder if it'll work on my samsung s24+
thanks for the review man....Does this have a companion app to control volume or to have more flexibility over volume?
Also Please review the shanling UA2.
Thank you
No companion app that I'm aware of. Volume will be controlled by the music app you're using.
@@iiWiReviews thanks man!
are they a good choice for the Mangird tea?
What is better? Sound BlasterX G6 (stock) or SMSL M3 so they are same price for me? Can You help me please? Thanks

Do you think it will work well with Thieaudio Legacy 2 or Legacy 3?
Does S9 Pro support MQA playback?
Please tell me what this does? And how it works?

It can drive them properly, that's not a problem. S9 pro does sound better and it does consume more power, so it's a personal choice I guess.
Ive just ordered a new pixel phone with no headphone jack! I use the KZ AS06's everyday straight through my phone's jack via Tidal, so I've bought this as a way to continue using my earphones. Should this sound better than the standard DAC ?
Yes.
Could you vs Hidizs s9 pro and Ovidius B1 impedance more than 600ohm?
How do the NM2+ sound with the Hidizs S9 Pro?
Are S9 pro more analytical and cold sounding than these though they have more power?
S9 is fuller sounding and more powerful, S3 is a bit leaner/colder.
Someone please tell me what this does? And how it works?
If you pair it with a phone it will make it a lot louder and better sounding, im not a technician lol
Does the S9 support MQA?
It does not
TB is correct, it doesn't... I was fast-answering to many comments and answered "yes" thinking about S3 pro. My bad. 😔
Nice review iiWi, u described the s9pro sound as i hear it on mine. Just one question did u also have problem with stuttering sound on the s9pro when used with an android?
No, it never stuttered with my phone and I'm still using it actively.
You did not mention anything related to MQA that would be one important reason for s3 pro.
It supports it and that's it, not much to say about it. TempoTec Sonata E44 x Hidizs S9 Pro?
I haven't had a chance to try TempoTec Sonata E44. So many DACs and so little time. :)
@@iiWiReviews I hope you have the opportunity to compare them if possible. Thanks! Great channel.
S9 pro is hardly good itself. Removes most of the bass and adds some artificial sibilants.
