I actually checked out the original post of the "evicting a tenant because they got pregnant" and it's way less cut and dry than the title makes it seem, OP was basically leasing a room in their home and didn't want to live with the eventual baby, gave her 6 months to find alternative housing and actively helped her search and waived her rent for those 6 months so she could save to move.
That sounds really kind, and is most definitely, but also it shows how much they didn't want to live with a baby, which is fair but still pretty hilarious
Yeah I wouldn't want to live with a baby either. Those things tend to stumble upon the bodies in the basement. Curious little beings they are. Such a shame they're so fragile.

No, they did not have better skin. It's just that, historically, portraits were a luxury only the richest could afford and being rich also meant you had more time and money to pamper yourself.
Early portraiture drawn by prestigious artists was so precious that some nobles could only afford to commission one (large painting) in their whole lives, and so it was usually to commemorate an important event or another. Today we use photoshop to hide our imperfections but back then they would ask the artist to give them a more flattering (or imposing!) look, because the intent was to preserve their image (and memory) for the ages.
The more things change the more they stay the same, I guess.

Yup, I hate when that happens, been there. I was having an episode one day being short of breath. Someone took the liberty of calling an ambulance. They showed up and I tried my very best to refuse it. I said I cannot afford what you're going to charge me for transporting me, (the hospital literally 5 miles away) I can have a family member take me. Well, they went into their speil and my family members made me go with them. They were all like don't worry about the cost it'll be okay. Then the Bill came in the mail. A 5 mile trip, almost $2,600. They itemized things like cost of fuel, the little electrode pads for the EKG,EEG, the amount of oxygen used, 2 - 81mg Bayer aspirin $145.00, IV needles (because EVERYONE needs them put in), etc. I got a hold of the Ambulance company and told them they were out of their minds, and they basically held me hostage. I also told them to put that bill into collections because I was not going to pay that. Finally after 2 years they stopped sending me bills. I'd hate to see what they charge for an Air Ambulance to my nearest trauma center which is over 1 1/2 by car, 20 mins by air. FFS I am old and dying. When it's my time, I'll be checking out of this shitty motel named Earth!
They have the _worst_ housekeeping staff. Most of them don't even care.
