China Chair™: Handcrafted in Denmark | Danish design furniture | Fritz Hansen

To honour 80 years of meticulous craftsmanship, Fritz Hansen is releasing an exclusive edition of the China Chair™ by Hans J. Wegner in European cherry with a Pure leather seat cushion.
Wegner was early in his career when he designed the first of four versions of the China Chair on a commission from Fritz Hansen to create affordable furniture that could be produced when wood was scarce. His response, inspired by an 18th century Chinese chair, was neither low cost nor easily made. But with the organic curve of its back and light frame, it was recognised as the classic it became, receiving accolades when it was shown in the Spring exhibition of the School of Arts and Crafts in 1944.
