- You can't go fishing on the Isle of Skye without visitng the world famous Neist Point with it's stunning coastline and fantastic lure fishing. The weather wasn't great on this trip but I managed to get tucked away from the wind and even managed to catch a few fish with the LRF tackle in what turned out to be an excellent short session.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Tight lines,
Nathan

My pleasure David, thank you for watching👍🎣
The videos are returning, which means its almost time to get the LRF rod out for another summer of blanks! - Cheers for the upload.
I'm sure you;ll get amongst them mate!👍🎣
I’m from Scotland, ex pat many years, now in Florida! Unlike most here I only use lures so your channel hits the sweet spot for me. Excellent video, thanks!
I watch a couple of Florida based channels and the fishing looks amazing over there! Thanks for the comment and glad you like the channel. Tight lines👍🎣
nice session Nathan. Nice climb and nice to see safety equipment too an absolute must have .😊
Thanks Dave, appreciated 👍🎣
Just found your channel mate and binged so many of your videos it's unreal. Not only entertaining but also informative and relaxing. Thank you

Cracking session Nathan well done and thanks for sharing.
No worries, glad you enjoyed it👍🎣
The craziest man on UA-cam after that big Pollack 😂...great video keep them coming
Will do Phillip!
Excellent session well done mate, i was impressed with the landing net, can i ask what make it is please ?
The net is a great piece of kit- it's a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m with a Spro Freestyle flick net head on it. Tight lines👍🎣
A massive thank you for all the hard work you put in.
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Quality session there mate, thanks for putting the effort in once again. I’m looking forward to next weeks as always! Tight lines 🎣
Thanks Liam, Glad you liked it and thanks for the support. Tight lines mate👍🎣
Good Evening Nathan , What a brilliant session mate thank you for taking us with you again mate , take care & tight lines
Good afternoon Steve, thanks for coming with me as always and tight lines mate!
Good to watch. I know absolutely nothing about sea fishing, so thanks for this tutorial.
I had a few casts on holiday in the Hebrides last year. Had a silver thing on for 2 minutes 'till it threw me in the rocks and weed. This year I plan to be better prepared for battle!
Sounds like you might have had a sea trout on, there are plenty of them around the hebrides. Thanks for the comment and good luck in future battles.
What a cracking vid, Nathan!
Thanks Neil👍🎣
Great session, fun to watch. Looks like a good spot!
It is a great spot, never fails to produce a fish or two!
Very enjoyable watch - thanks for sharing 😃
My pleasure and thanks for watching 👍
Good man, very sensible. Because my age us watching up with me I also have a thumb sick to help me keep stable when I am scrambling about.
I enjoy your adventures.
I agree Nath, LRF is so enjoyable, and pollock never fail to deliver a good scrap. Nice info on the safety gear you carry also. All the best buddy and TL's
I love it, I don;t know why people fish with such heavy gear like 30lb braid big rods when the light stuff handles them so well. Tight lines Adz👍🎣
Great video mate. Plenty of pollock there anyway and beautiful surroundings as always. Thanks Nathan.
Thanks mate, glad you liked it👍🎣
Brill fishing, plenty fish. asked Pete what the yellow thing was on your waist when you explained what it was, glad you have safety equipment in place
Love you videos great places you find
Tight lines
Hi Gillian, Thanks for the comment and hope you're doing well and getting amongst the fish!
Tight lines
Cracking video mate.Have you tried a spot I just along from Eilean donan castle behind the big rock we often stop there for the night in the motorhome had some cracking big pollock from there.Am off up to lewis in couple days so hope get to put the rod out
I've driven past it so many times, but it's never occurred to me to fish it. Could be worth a shot just to break the journey up. Ah, nice, I need another trip up there this year. Hop you get amongst them.👍🎣
Great vids as usual Nathan you get to some cracking places, keep your vids coming great Sunday night with a few cans( glad to c u have invested in some decent safety gear especially for the places you get to fish, keep the fishing going and stay sake. Tight lines🎣🎣👍
Fishing vids and a few cans, sounds like my sunday evening too😂 Thanks George and will do. Tight lines👍🎣🍻
Hi Nathan, great to see you back on the fish at such a fabulous spot.
Thank you for going through your safety gear. I've started doing a lot more rock fishing in the last year or so and your experience is most welcome.
Was watching a video you did a bit back about the place you fell in and got a load of barnacle rash on your legs.
Sounded pretty damn scary so it's 100% switched me on to doing what's in my comfort zone especially when I'm on my own.
I went to the Mull of Galloway to the mark with the little platform and the rope going down and listened to what you said about not using the rope. The Cave round to the right at that mark is stunning isn't it! Would never know it was there from the top.
All the best for this year man. Thank you for your years of knowledge sharing it does help.
Tight lines
Hi Alex, Thanks for your great comment, it means a lot to me to know that I can help others out and equip you with some knowledge to head out to these brilliant locations.
Good luck for the summer and tight lines!👍🎣
Very good fishing!
Thanks 👍
Good effort nathan, cant wait to get up here in the next few months and give it a try for the first time
You'll love it, such a reliable spot to fish
@SlippyLimpets not with the luck I've been having lately 😂😂 can you recommend any other productive areas nearby, been told to give elgol a try, have you ever tried around there?
What a gorgeous place to fish.
It is, as it the whole of Skye.
Awesome vid as always pal 👍
Thank you
class session nathen, well done mate
Thanks Bill👍🎣
Fo me a big favour and always wear a life jacket. I had a bad fall on the Isle of Mull and broke three ribs and badly bruised my spine. Had I fallen forward into the fast running tide I would not be here now. Be safe, especially in remote places.
100percent especially if your on your own cold see saps your strength in 1 minute slip on the rocks and get injured it gives you a chance at least
I agree, I've started wearing one on every trip now.
It's Sunday! Hope the knee is doing better. I'll sithi after. Dave. ♥
Alreet Dave, yeah sorry, no new content, had an op so haven't been able to fish. Re-hab is going well so hopefully out this weekend💪🎣
Another cracking vid, and some decent fish. Love fishing light, weather permitting, it’s always fun with a decent fish, looks like a whale!
Hi Pete, the LRF tackle always brings a smile to my face. Hope you've been getting out and tight lines👍🎣
Awesome vid mate 🎣👍
Thanks mate👍🎣
Slippy limpets, on the rocks, into the fish. Whats not to like?
Also - good to see you with some LRF action. 🎣🐟
Thanks LV, could you tell I enjoyed fishing with the LRF tackle?!😂 Tight lines mate👍🎣
Nice to know about safety gear Nathan
You need to Collab with Blot outdoors, he can teach you how to wild camp and whaskey review. You can teach him how to catch your supper 😂.
I'll take a look, but in the meantime, if you like wild camping take a look at my wild camping playlist. There's some good kayak/hammock camping vids on there.
Perseverance pays off mate, some lovely Pollock there, they fight like tigers on the lighter tackle. Love Isle of Skye although it does have its own weather system. Great watching as always keep them coming, I've done really well with Ammo frozen sandeel spun behind a 20g in line spiral lead, might be worth a try tight lines as always.
They're one of best fighting fish in the UK, I think, especially because they run for cover, unlike bass. Thanks for the info, I'll give that a go, I'm also keen to live bait some launce or joeys for them, it might help produce some bigger fish. Tight lines👍🎣
Just enjoyed this latest video during btreakfast, as I prep my gear to head out for a short session before work. Very enjoyable, Nathan. I have been to Skye, sadly I didn't have rods.
Hi Chris, good to see here you've got your mojo back for fishing local. You'll need to head back at some point, I hear the fishing can be epic! Tight lines mate👍🎣
Eyup Nathan. That northern country definitely seems to suit you down to the ground. And up it. And down again. Great fish, great fun. 👍
Alreet Dave, It did, until I tore the meniscus in my knee while out running, just had surgery on Tuesday to sort it out. Hopefully back out soon enough though. Hope you're getting out and in amongst the fish👍🎣
Nice spot good fishing so happy days Love the channel
Glad you enjoyed
Inspiring as usual Nathan. To ensure you always have a small sharp blade available, I would recommend either the Classic SD or Rambler Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. They are small enough to attach to your car key keyring.
Thanks David, I do normally take a small knife with me, normally a Waterhaul blunt nose folding knife but stupidly left it in the car🤦♂️ Tight lines👍🎣
Well in mate, I've had some cracking days on that spot!
It never really fails to produce, . Tight lines mate👍🎣
Nice fish Nathan,another great video,Ally
Hi Ally, Hope you're keeping well and thanks for the comment.
Busy veg gardening and getting old, lol, all the best,Ally
once again a great video Nathan stay safe from scandinavia😇
Thanks again Peter. Tight lines!👍🎣
Been saving this one till I had time for a sit down with a brew lol, well worth the wait nath, loved how you apologised to that second one for the belly flop return lol
Hope you enjoyed it Mick 👍🎣
Brilliant,More
Thanks Gerald!
Great video as always Nathan and yet again a big thank you for all your efforts and hard work you put into the channel. I checked on your gear list but couldn’t find anything ref your landing net, could you please post some info about it as I think I would be interested in getting one. Many thanks and tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
My pleasure Steve, and thanks for your comment! The net handle is a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m and the net head is a Spro URBN Folding Net head, although you can use any net head on the handle. Hope this helps and tight lines👍🎣
First time viewer here - saw the thumbnail and knew where you were fishing - I wasn't disappointed watching !
I've fished there a lot and that walk back always kills me at the end !!!
I have had a huge variety of species from this mark including a lumpfish - only one i ever caught.
Pollock into double figures as well as tons of Spurs, Ling and Conger too on dirty bait.
My last visit before lockdown i hooked a gannet 50 foot below the surface. Nightmare to get in and even worse to unhook as it kept stabbing me - ended up holding it like a set of bagpipes :) (it was lightly hooked in the wing and released unhurt - go barbless !)
Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. It is a fantastic mark but never tried it using bait, maybe next time. Hooking a gannet isn't fun, they have thay un-canny knack of being able to twist their heads 360🙈
@@SlippyLimpets they also have a machete strapped to their face too !!
Amazing video. Thanks for taking the time and effort to film it all. Jealous of your lifestyle brother. 😊
My pleasure! No need to be jealous though, I'm just like everyone else with a full time job and fish once per week. Tight lines👍🎣
I had to take my MTB down with me while fishing there was a few puzzled looking fisherman and it was a crap walk back up 😂
Cheers from Cork, nice video 👌
Glad you enjoyed👍🎣
All good now. 👍
My favorite fishing mark love the place
It is a brilliant mark.
Should take big rod next time m8 had some lovely spurs off there to just under 20lb give a canny scrap
Love the videos ( I have to get a day fishing )
Hello from Ireland
Thanks and hope you manage to get out soon👍🎣
Wish I owned the tackle shop near you. Any money you make from UA-cam must just cover the lures you lose😂. Love your adventures, exhausting watching them, keep coming with more. 👍🏻
Haha, stick a fuel garage next door and could have all my cash 🤣🤣 Thanks for the comment Mike, much appreciated and tight lines👍🎣
Should come over to Isle of Lewis got some awesome marks for fishing
I fished Harris and Uist last year and it was amazing. Lewis is on the list for this year🤞
Excellent session. So helpful how you explain your gear and tackle 👍
Can you post a link to your PLB and life vest please?
Yeah of course, here's the PFD- www.spinlock.co.uk/en-GB/uk/products/alto#
and the PLB- www.piratescave.co.uk/acr-resqlink-400-buoyant-plb.html
Hope this helps and glad you like the videos👍🎣
Nice one Nathan buddy! posh git lol!
haha, busted🤦 Tight lines lads!
13:57 Lots of fun this round especially on the LRF rod
That certainly turned out to be a productive mark, Nathan. For some reason, I paid more attention to your telescopic landing net than usual. It certainly functioned beautifully, as demonstrated by your ability to extend and collapse the pole with just one hand. Obviously, this net is part of the Spro Freestyle series, but could you tell us which model it is? I'm curious about the net's full extended length and whether this is a carbon model or an aluminum one. Thanks, Chris (Maine, USA)
Hi Chris, Yeah, it never fails to through a fish or two up, never the biggest but definitely productive. The net handle is a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m, but has a mechanism that can limit the extension length, which makes it easier to manage depending on how close to the water I am. The net head is the Freestyle Flick Net in aluminium, i went for this version because it's 10cm bigger than than the carbon net and the tougher- carbon has a tendency to crack/shatter when hit against rock. Hope this helps and tight lines!👍🎣
Hi Nathan - enjoyed your video catching pollock at Neist Point last year. Question: when I was about 10 (I'm now 60!) my father took me rock fishing in NW Skye. We were camping near Colbost and I remember going shore fishing somewhere nearby. I seem to remember it was on a north / north-west / west facing spot with some clambering down to the rocks to the ocean's edge. It was reputed to be one of the best rock / shore fishing spots in the area and I recall a few cuckoo wrasse being caught. In your video you mention that Neist Point is a beautiful spot, but may not provide the best rock fishing, so I am wondering if you know where I might be referring to in that area. Sorry to be so vague, but it was over 50 years ago!! I have lived overseas for 40 years, but am doing a Skye trip in July and would love to be reminded where this might be, as I hope to return.. Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance
Hi James,
As you know, Skye has so much coastline, and the fishing has deteriorated over the years, so it's hard to pin an exact location down, but it could well have been Neist Point, or maybe Rhubna Hunish, or nearer Carbost would be Glen Brittle. Either way they are all beautiful areas to fish in and still hold some fish! I hope this helps a wee bit and that you have an excellent trip to a wonderful place. Tight lines🎣👍
thanks so much Nathan! Very helpful. Cheers
No throwing the towel in now you have a custom one!
Haha, very good John🤣
32 minutes in and I was really gunning for you to pull that one out away from the ledge. It’s so frustrating how many pollock are lost to that kind of terrain, but entertaining nonetheless.
They're masters of smash and grab, aren't they. Hopefully I'll get it next time up there. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the comment👍🎣
Sutch a nice place to fish.if u fish on the lethd hand side in that small bay it is good there as well.wee tip for you.
Thanks Simon, I've fished all around the headland but the wind forced me to fished this spot on this trip. Tight lines mate👍🎣
Nice nice👍
Is that zman lures?
I've got some Zman but the lures were Lure Boi, Slider and Mad Eel
@@SlippyLimpets thanks
Great video 😃. Can I ask what net your using ? Cheers buddy.
You'll crack skye eventually, took me 4 years, thousands on diesel and alot of map work. Only advice I'll give you is stay clear of the marks posted online ie Neist and Staffin. Once you've cracked it, you'll thank me 👍
I do love it up there there's so much coastline to fish.
There is mate, but what used to be the banker marks are all well overfished. Oct Nov and December are prime time but the weather is a different story. Good luck and tight lines pal 👍
Cracking Vid as ever, what net do you use?
It's a Spro Freestyle Xtender with the Freestyle Flick net head. Glad you liked the video!👍🎣
Great video as always Nathan, absolutely loved it. I hope you don’t mind me asking this, but I am looking to treat a mate to a new spinning reel for his birthday. You’ve given me some solid tackle advice in the past and I wondered if you might give your views again. If you had £100ish to spend on a spinning reel for a 10 to 30g rated lure rod, what would you go with?
Hey Chris, for that sort of cash I'd look to get a Daiwa BG, maybe a 2500 or 3000 for that sort of rod weight. The BG is one of the best reels you can get for that sort of cash.
@@SlippyLimpets thanks mate, really appreciate you taking the time to give a view. Tight lines 👍🏻
Really enjoyed that mate brilliant video. Was wandering what lure clip you using and leader?
I use seaguar ace hard leader and LMAB Fastach lure clips. Hope this helps👍
@SlippyLimpets yea big help thank you mate 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Some wonderful sport and great mark. Neist ?
Yep, well spotted 😊👍
The LRF set up looks ideal for that stamp of fish. You reckon the bigger fish respond to soft plastics better because they are less pressured on them compared to the metals which more people use?
Cheers
I would have preferred something a little longer but bought it mainly as a perch rod for the kayak, but it seems to work well enough from the rocks. Plenty of grunt for it's casting weight. A smaller real will help balance it better though. It's a good question, I thought it could be due to competition from smaller fish getting there first, but then the small SP's were doing well too. So, i think it could be down to casting distance, as you know metals fly out, and i probably don't fish them as effectively close in as i would with short casting SP's. Could be familiarity as well though.
Tight lines OB👍🎣
I know what you mean about the rod length, especially for pollack. Even on a boat, I don’t like anything shorter than 7ft.
It’s interesting with metals. I think you had your monster pollack in Orkney on metals? But I generally find they produce smaller stamp of fish, be it pollack, cod or bass even. Maybe it is the way we use them, to whack out far and retrieve pretty fast? Bigger fish being lazier and closer to structure. Who knows! Nearly warm enough to get out and test that theory!
Cheers
Cracking video. Can you tell me what landing net you are using please ? Thanks
No problem, it's a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m with a Spro URBN Folding Net head. Hope this helps👍🎣
@@SlippyLimpets many thanks
Had a pollock 10 lb there
Awesome videos , what make of net do you use ?
It's a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m handle with a Dpro Flick Net head. Hope this helps
Yes it does, thanks for the reply, I'll b looking for one as I fish alot of marks similar that needs a decent reaching net, keep up the good work with the amazing videos
Could you suggest a bang cheap set up, rod and reel that I can take to flamborough, for a beginner to start chucking some lures this summer? Or any knowledgeable subscribers who can help? TIA.
I started with the Daiwa D-Wave combo, pretty good value and almost bullet proof. Hope this helps
What's that net you're using mate?
It's a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m handle with a Spro Freestyle Flick net head
hej Nathan is your full time proffesion or du you only do this on free time , and how do you get sponsors ? regards Peter
Hey Peter, No, I have a full time job and fish once per week, with the rest of my free time spent editing videos. I terms of sponsors, I don't really have that many because i like to use tackle that I want rather than what I'm told to use. But i do get approached by companies from time to time.
what lure did you use mate?
I used a few- Lure Boi shads, Slider Shads, Mad Eel's, and Silver Minnows
Do you ever use chebs Nathan?
Just seen the bit of the vid were you stick a cheb on ! :)
Hi Greg, Yeah, been using them for years as a replacement to the cone weights I used to use. Brilliant weights just make sure you use a lure clip them with, because they can chop through your leader if you tie directly to them. Tight lines👍🎣
Can I ask the model of landing net you have.
Yeah, Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m with a Spro URBN Folding Net head. Hope this helps
4lb braid, did i hear u right
Yep, a bit light but great sport!
There's no audio, Nathan?
I thought it was just me 😂
There is
It's fixed now for me
Hi mate r u OK no vids for sum time hope your OK?
Where's the sound gone dude.?
It’s working for me now
One Slip and it's Bye bye..Take a Bike Helmet..
A climbing helmet might be a better option, they have different ratings compared to bike helmets
what net is that
It's a Spro Freestyle Xtender 3.8m
@@SlippyLimpets nice how is it on durable my fish are normally maxing out at 10 -20 pounds do you think it could take it!
I've had up to 14lb so far and it seemed to handle that fine, only landed vertically though, it's too bendy to reach out horizontally
@@SlippyLimpets yeah that’s what I was curious about. Need to get another one. My mate just hucked my last net into the ocean. Lol
Sounds like your mate needs to get you another!
