You say "look closely at the newest buildings" and proceed to show the Chrysler building and Empire State building. See 111 West 57th St to disprove this entire video
Fair point! The Chrysler and Empire State were more of a nostalgic throwback, but 111 West 57th is definitely a prime example of today’s slim marvels. Thanks for keeping me on my toes! 😊
5:55 This really beautiful building in Amsterdam should be built once more in New Jersey, Brooklyn or Queens looking over the river to Manhattan. How nice it would be to sit on a balcony like that. Thanks for the really interesting video and greetings from Munich, Germany!
The reason for a lot of NY buildings being skinnier is because of the smaller street blocks in some parts of Manhattan. Where as in Chicago some of the buildings are much larger at the base since a lot of the street blocks are larger to accommodate wider skyscrapers.
Great point! The contrast between New York's compact blocks and Chicago's broader layouts really highlights how urban planning shapes architecture. It’s fascinating how geography influences design-thanks for sharing this insight! 😊
@@JumboStructures Exactly, Chicago's Merchandise Mart is prime example of a big block. However, Chicago does have some skinnier towers like Park Tower Hotel but no where near the numbers you see in NY. Also the early fire codes and temporary height restriction period adopted by the city had a lot of influence on building design especially after the Chicago fire. Which is why alleys are more common there than in NY.
Great idea. I just wish I had the $100 million it takes to live in one. Frankly, you should make sure your buildings are tall enough in the bottom 10 floors to withstand global sea level rise. I can see New York in 50 years looking like Blade Runner where skyways dominate the architecture and connect buildings because the ground levels will be under water. Under such environmental demands, buildings would become miniature cities within themselves and take up acres and acres of space and be ten times as tall as we build now.
Sir New York’s Skyscrapers each one tells story ? 🙂🙂Empire states building probably more than story a history of success on The top of the podium The Guinness Book of Records 4 decades🙂🙂Karl lewis without ben johnson maybe could realize a similar success 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Hey could you maybe crank that background music up a little more? I could still hear a tiny bit of the narration. (seriously, who made this video, Christopher Nolan?)
Ah, you're right! Next time, I'll aim for a Hans Zimmer-level masterpiece to truly drown out the narration. Thanks for the feedback, Nolan would be proud!
hey so your content is good and you talk well please just do avoid using the current background music you do , it detracts from the experience , you could do well without it or with some smooth jazz or classical music in background
Hey, thanks so much for the kind words and the constructive feedback! Smooth jazz or classical sounds like a great vibe I’ll definitely experiment with that in future videos. Appreciate you watching! 😊
You are incredible at handling and replying to the, dare I say, a few of the trolling/baiting feedback comments. Also, great video, keep up the good work.
I was going to down vote, but I like the effort. You have a solid topic, but the video falls apart a little. I would want to watch a video discussing Goldman Sachs HQ (wide, not built to max possible height), 50 HY, the Spiral, 270 Park Ave. 35-45K sf or more per floor etc.
Appreciate the honest feedback, Daniel! Noted for future videos I’ll definitely consider diving into those fascinating buildings like Goldman Sachs HQ and 50 HY. Thanks for the suggestion, I’m on it! 😊
You got the Empire State Building and Chrysler building mixed up

În the pictures with the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, the names should be reversed
RFK Jr will fix this. Obesity is affecting our skyscrapers too, we need thinner and more healthier skyscraper's.

The street blocks in nyc aren’t small they are just rectangular. Stop bringing up in Chicago in nyc related videos loser

@@justhearmeout nah I wasn't trolling, I genuinely meant it, the kid talks good, it's just that corporate kinda music dragging it down
@meowmoew7950 that wasn't exactly directed to you, my friend, I should have put my comment under the general topic. And yes, he does speak well.

she akways starts the day off with a white collar lie...
The newest skyscrapers are literally as skinny as smokestacks. Your video is showing way older buildings - very uninformed video.
Liar. Nothing skinny about the newest buildings built. Not Hudson yards or the new JP Morgan tower
