I did the R/U & simazine May 2023, drilled RC BigRock 1st week of June, NO rain for 4 weeks & this stuff was still 6’ by mid September, this stuff is truly amazing!!!!
Thanks John! Got my order in Friday! I will say the brassicas I bought last year were absolute amazing! Will be planting the rc switch and Hd screen as well as brassicas and fall forage. If anyone finds this video know that John knows seed! He also answers emails and returns calls. That’s rare these days. Several buddies use the deer on the bag stuff and could not believe my Sweet feast brassicas were 18 to 24” tall.
Johns RC big rock switch is Good stuff. I planted some in my yard with pretty heavy clay content in Missouri and it grew good even with hardly any moisture last year. And its priced well.
Hey John, It's good to see you putting out some videos again, hope you had a great season!! I just want to share my success story and hopefully it will help validate how great of a product your selling. Now this is coming from someone who has always grown Cave in Rock in past years and overall I have been pleased with that seed but decided to try RC for the first time last year. With that being said... Let me say firsthand I'll never buy any other variety of Switch, if the option is available, besides RC Big Rock from anyone else besides Northwoods Whitetails (no John is NOT paying me to say this lol). In late February 2023 I frost seeded a 2022 food plot (1 acre approx) in Middle TN and despite the record drought last summer, I am proud to say that today its a pure 6'- 7' tall stand of Switch that is still standing strong. This fall I was fortunate to witness 3 good bucks breeding some does inside that switch which was so gratifying!! Id be lying if I said it didn't take a lot of TLC throughout the spring and summer to achieve that success but getting to witness that in the field made it all worth it!! Obviously not everyone has the same amount of growing season that we do in the SE but anyone can grow RC Big Rock and be successful too if they put the work and research in. Thanks for the great content John and I look forward to purchasing some new seed very soon!!
@@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 However I can not speak as highly for the HD Screen I grew down here this year and I have been meaning to contact you regarding the issues I had with it. I'm not sure what the heck happened but it failed in both areas I planted it and trust me I followed every step to a T. I'll call or email you about it later this week.
Planted the RC this past spring and it came in great. Some weeds but overall pretty darn good. Anyway, do you recommend burning this year as well and is there a time frame/month that is better to do that than others?
Hi John. Planted RC switch last year in north central WI. Because of drought didn’t get germination until August. Only got sparse growth in some areas. Any chance I will get growth this year or should I consider reseeding? Thanks!
Thanks John another great informational Video. I have been planting your plot screen for the past three years and wonder if i can plant the same area with this RC switch grass ? I know you recommend only plating the screen for one year in a specific areaa
Will your annual screen grow in the woods with a semi thick canopy? Screening trails, property lines, things like that ? Same question with switch . Thanks
John, great stuff. What are your thoughts on planting RC with HD screening year 1. I've seen the gentleman from habitat 360 doing it with some success. I plant your HD every year I'm try to stop doing it due to the work involved in replanting every year.
It’s just an improved upland variety. But is as tall and fast growing as we have seen. Not to mention priced better than most. It does make excellent screening.

Sounds great
Yes
This is better than anything available.

That’s why we are here!!

We are hearing this same thing from all over the country.
Welcome to the new number one switchgrass for Whitetails .

Trying to figure out how many bags I need for a new farm! Always appreciate your assistance with questions and no fluff approach to get the best seed!
We will be doing a planting video aoon

Great info John, much better than whs.
Doing more trees, appears to best long term solution for me. Want all year road cover. May do some SG between tree rows but for me trees best option.
Trees are the ultimate screen
Switch long term
HD food plot screen short term

Possibly see what comes back this spring and go from there.
In the sandy regions , I like drilling better than broadcasting
Burn it before spring green up and you will have the best stand of Switch you can ever imagine this year!!
Same, southern Michigan

Sure
Get rid of the thatch and a few sprayings

Screen needs mostly to full sun.
So should switch, but made take less sun better than the screen.

I have seen some success with it.
Need to get the screen rate correct.
John, just to clarify, is the RC BIG ROCK considered a screening switch? Height is what I need for some access routes.
It’s just an improved upland variety. But is as tall and fast growing as we have seen. Not to mention priced better than most.
It does make excellent screening.
I have a half acre over grown feild with sand burs and wild grasses in it centra Minnesota
What’s the best bet for planting
Till or not
Gotta mow it first
Many sprayings and then plant
Possibly till right away and then 2-3 sprayings and then plant
Do u have dealers in central Wisconsin? Go pack Go.
FON DU LAC , SHAWNO , NEKOOSA
Can i grow any thing in shade
Not much for grasses
I even know a guy in central & western WI that will drill it for you
