Apparently some of it was actual degradation. He made a tweet later saying he recorded it onto a VCR, then unrolled the tape and rubbed it all over the floor
OMG. I just had flashbacks. I had to upgrade a 14.4 modem to a 33.6. and that bogged down pretty damn quick. By the time I upgraded to 56k, there was the concept of ditching your dial up for cable! I couldn't commit to cable until 3 years after that. BTW, thank you for not putting in an AOL logo in the corner.......
The pained face I made at that Required Resolution. Yikes. That said, I love this video, your avatar feels like it just fits that background. Has a great voice too!
@@Coopertom No joke, after all your silly videos of cars and random things found at and during cons, I can actually see you praise some random feet massager "Bean-master 3000" or something for 30 minutes straight in some sitcom-like environment together with Jym and Scurrow. Including all the nineties cringe lines like "But, wait. There's more! If you dail 1-800-BEAN right now, you get not 1, but 2 devices so your friend can experience the advantage of getting his or hers beans massaged by nude virgins after a long walk aswell!"
This gives me so much nostalgia as well as a seriously disturbing feeling... I feel like this is the start of the Ring or something...
this is basically ASMR for people of a certain age
@@louisejoel fr i felt myself soothed like a wee bab on these gentle yesteryear vibes
I now miss my IBM PS/2 and coding BASIC
That was amazing! I adore how realistic the degradation was and the music, background, text and tone were all perfect!

The colors were spot on
I'm constantly amazed at how expressive your character is
Okay, this feels like the start of a VRChat Creepypasta.
AND I WANT IN.
Man, the nostalgia hits hard with this one. Lol.
Your voice totally suits the aesthetic of 90s instructional videos, especially when compressed in mono! Love the vid as always
This is eerily well done. I've had VHS tapes this bad. It's about perfect. I don't know how to feel about this, besides 'old'.
The one down vote doesn't meet the required specs.
Down vote? I’s this Reddit?
Oh god, there's no way I have a computer *that* powerful until at least 1993! Thank you for the amazing guide... TO VR!
LOL! If it was only this easy.
Oh man this was great... I was laughing so hard at the system requirements... it really sent me back
Why does this hit me so hard with nostalgia?
This needs to be the video that plays when you buy a VR headset
This feels like the opening to a creepypasta story.
I just realized I've been watching Coopertom content for 10yrs O.o
So much love for this. Ducking nailed it! 💯 Complete success! Wow!
I love the aesthetic VHS wave tape!
This speaks to my soul.
This is art! Well done, I love it.
This is actually genius.
This would have to be the funniest video you have done so far
Half expected some Local 58 shit to go down.
"The horse power to keep up with VR" lol
I feel old.. Thanks Coopertom.

I am definitely putting this on my soon to be analog horror compilation vhs
This is so good!

This made my soul hurt. Too real, too real!
Wow, the National Wildlife Federation was on the cutting edge back then!
Gotta love those VHS vibes!
Fantastic, Coopertom!
This gave me all kinds of anxiety.
Very well made! You can become a professional infomercial host!
Seriously that would be my dream job! I'd love to do stuff like this for a living.

Need to clean those heads Coopertom the Hi-Fi keeps cutting out
Did I just call a kids book publisher?
I can hear the VHS running in my mind XD
Thank you so much! This helped me a lot setting up my Virtual Reality Chatroom. I had to upgrade my 14.4 kbit/s modem though. Can I have your VRCIN?
Usps number, wow they must have taken over that number recently
OMG that was amazing
So well done!
oh my gosh this is so well made, this rules haha
I think I broke my betamax, this ain’t playing
My head.....being a 90s kid this is messing with it D: Good job!
Hilarious! So nostalgic. lol
As a Gen X, this is pretty accurate.

Unrealistic:
The Information Superhighway wasn't publicly released until 1994.
Sheesh. A 20 MB hard drive? Who can afford that? Also I've got a Soundblaster, so I'll probably need a separate boot disc anyway
Imagine if ms dos could run vr
How did l get here so fast-
I wanna see what kind of resolution 3D you could render on a 386DX 20 Mhz, TWICE, and then transfer the necessary sync info over 28.8 modem. XD
I've been trying to get those scan lines to look legit for months and bam, cooper got it perfectly.
Congrats man it looks amazing.
What did you use?
Edited the video on the PC, then burned the video to dvd, recorded the dvd to vhs, then recorded the vhs back to dvd and ripped the dvd to the PC.
@@Coopertom as easy as that eh?
Remember to adjust your tracking!
@@Coopertom And here I thought it looked too real, excellent work! I grew up with a top-loading VCR myself
@@Coopertom Woah, impressive
Film was such a pain but I still manage to feel nostalgic about it. The beauty of the imperfect surprises of analogue.
I would love to see someone formulate ANY kind of VR program that can run on nothing but a 386dx and 4mb of ram
This is so on point xd
I can not call them if I am using my modem.
Furries? In *my* VCR? I think I need to adjust my tracking control.
What is this? A Win98 tapeset I'd get from BlockBuster or CompUSA?
OH GOD ITS IN 4:3
You should really get a vcr head cleaner...
Was this recorded in SLP/EP?
Put the what in the what for the who's it's? Was that and 3 or a €,7/2?
Whoa were your ears always so floppy? looks really unnatural.
My, that’s one crusty VHS tape you got there.
Does it work on a i486 DX 4?
Woah. Lush specs. Have you got Hutchinson's encyclopedia on CD rom. I've heard Microsoft are planning on making one as well
Whoa! That is OVERKILL but yeah that will work!
when furry
FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE VR DIDNT EXIST BACK THEN
