No acapella group can create the illusion of a full band the way these brothers can. Their beatboxer is world class and no one can simulate a bass instrument better than Tim Foust. They can all beatbox besides being the vocal assassins that they are.
Geoff credits Tim Foust, Home Free's bass, with helping him develop his sub harmonic technique which enabled him reach those deep bottom notes that he now has in his arsenal. No bass singer out their has such booming resonance down deep as Tim does. Tim also has a 5 octave range and was once a tenor in an acapella group. He is amazing!!
He taught Geoff the technique because Geoff was a baritone and the octave drop from subharmonics enables his voice to hit the same notes that Tim can with his growl. As Geoff put it, "I have the same low notes but in a different way. " Subharmonics however lack the resonance of a growl because the top half of the vocal chords are cut off and only the deeper chords remain activated. I didn't say that Tim used subharmonics so don't make assumptions about a topic you are not versed in. @@dagmar.6954
Home Free has very loyal fans called Home Fries and we love these guys. Anything by them is truly amazing. They also have one they did with VoicePlay I'm A Survivor... Zombies versus Hillbillies. Subscribing for more Home Free.
Home Free is so incredibly versatile and can do any genre. Their covers are usually upgrades and their original music is amazing. R&b - When A Man Loves a Woman, Doobies - Listen To The Music, Pop - End Of The Road, Country - Fishing In The Dark/Boondocks mashup, Folk - Take Me Home Country Roads, Gospel - How Great Thou Art.
Home Free is incredible. Everything they do is great. And although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. There is no permanent lead singer. They really all have great voices with their own specialties. Even Adam Rupp who started the group with his brother Chris Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo but also to start other projects with his sister, among others. Adam Rupp-Beatboxer but is actually an inhuman freaking good mouth artist. Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible. This is the best harmony, no egos, no rivalries, great personalities etc. Besides, they can all beatbox (see their live performance 9to5). .. This is one of the many covers they do in addition to various originals, and each one is just amazing. Take the time to discover Home Free because it will be a great tour. George Clooney acted in the band part, but the actual singers were professional singers. I think it was Allison Krauss's usual backup band, Union Station or at least some members. That was some seriously polished singing in a bluegrass/country precursor style.
And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so fucking doomed. We'll save you a chair. You're about to be buried in Home Fries. Brace yourself. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks while they were scattered across the country. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a world-class vocal percussionist and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), and his drum solos. For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). This man’s range is incredible. You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?” For Chance's smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob's soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) One Home Fry has described him as the vocal equivalent of a Swiss Army knife because of his versatility. For Austin's soaring power tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen to the radio, ‘cause you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you'll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim's mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You'll need smelling salts after that one. Don't miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they'll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother). And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’d been hit by the curse four times before I gave up and quit counting. I’m not the only victim of the Home Free Curse, either. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.
You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there with a 5 octave range & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney. Some of my favorites are "Take Me Home Country Roads", "In The Blood", "Ring Of Fire", "Blue Ain't Your Color", "How Great Thou Art", "Elvira", "Hillbilly Bone", "American Pie", "Brother In Arms", "Helplessly Hoping", "Seven Bridges Road", "One Man Band", "Listen To The Music" etc.
This is one of their most popular song. These boys can sing any genre. Ck out End of the Road and Listen to the Music You will quickly become a Home Fry.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Aside from Adam Rupp three others in the group can beat box as well, the mouth harp sound at the beginning and end of the video is Chance in the black vest.
Home Free are goofy guys too. And sometimes deadly serious. For fun, try “Champagne Taste of a Beer Budget”. For amazing music, “Listen to the Music”. For bass, “Folsom Prison Blues”. These guys toured with Voice Play after The Sing Off, so they are friends. Left to Right Rob - Chance - Austin - Adam - Tim
Home Free is my favorite a cappella band. Not to say that other groups are not equally talented (!), but HF's blend of personalities and skills just suit me best. I've been following them for 10 years, ever since they won season 4 of the Sing Off tv competition (on NBC) in 2013. They continue to surprise, and never disappoint, such as in their earlier "Love Train" or "Can't Stop the Feeling", or any other song you choose!
Interesting that you should mention Geoff, Tim Foust ( the bass here, and Geoff are good friends.) Tim showed Geoff how to growel, and how to reach some of those low notes. The difference is Tim can SING, melodically, in those lower registers. He has a 5 octave range that is incredible. Geoff has worked with Home Free with some arrangements, A real talent on his own. Check out Peter Hollens,, featuring Tim Foust: Misty Mountains. Stay for the last note, and comment on Tim’s lows.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. They are so very awesome. In my opinion the best acapella group around. Every sound you hear comes from their mouths. They have a world champion beat boxer. Adam Rupp. Tim Foust is their bass, Chance is a baritone/Bass, Austin is the high Tenor and Rob is a tenor. Please keep reacting to them. They do not have a bad song. Love your reaction!
In this song Home Free is making a distinct southern (country blues/bluegrass) presentation--it definitely fits the lyrics of the song. Chance doing the jaw harp sound really sets the stage for this song's story, which Austin's twang fits phenomenally. Tim's bass line completely grounds the harmonies and Adam's voice percussion simply cannot be beat. This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle ANY other genre just as amazingly❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Some of my favorites are "Working for a Living", "Good 'Ol Country Harmony", "Land of the Free", "Remember This", "Elvira" (with the Oak Ridge Boys), "Undivided", "Timeless", "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sun Comes Up" (which is not on YT--it's on their official Facebook page), "Listen to the Music", "What's Left of My Heart", "Understand", and "Road Sweet Road" 😍!
You have just listened to one of the most talented accapella groups there is. All of the members are super talented and bring their own strengths to their music. And the beat boxer Adam Rupp, that’s his no-Monica. Lol he’s is insanely talented! Take a listen to his drum solo. Loved your reaction! And if your going to be doing more home free I’m in! New sub! More home free!!! Please!
Bass singer is Tim Foust. Beat boxer (No harmonica guy') is Adam Rupp. Big guy with overalls Second tenor is Rob Lundquist. Lead singer is Austin Brown. Guy in back left with hat (Made the intro and extro sounds) is Adam Chance (Known as Chance because there are two Adams) Please react to "In the blood" and "Let the music play" by these guys. They are a phenomenal group that cover many genres.
New sub because of Home Free. Welcome to the "rabbit hole" known as Home Free. Hold on & enjoy the ride. If you keep HF reaction us "home fries" will swarm. In back left to right Chance(baritone), Adam Rupp(best beat-boxer there is), front left to right Rob(1st tenor), Austin (high tenor), Tim Foust(bass with a 5+ octave range, best in the business).
Great reaction! For more of their country vibe, check out Folsom Prison Blues (with a motown feel; they usually follow Man of Constant Sorrow with this in their concerts); Ring of Fire (featuring Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix); and Hillbilly Bone; Fishin in the Dark/Boondocks mashup; In the Blood. For R&B: End of the Road; Thinking Out Loud (Sheeran)/Let's Get It On (Marvin Gaye) mashup. That'll get you started!
Home Free works with other acapella on various projects. Geoff did their arrangement of Elvira that they did with the Oak Ridge Boys. Layne did their arrangement of the Butts Medley (numerous butt-related songs in multiple genres). They did a sort of collaboration with Voiceplay on I'm a Survivor (they recorded both audio and video separately and then mixed the tape). They often work with Peter Hollens, who is particularly known for creating enormous harmonies by massive multitracking - he worked with Home Free and maybe 100 fans to create a wonderful version of I Still Haven't Found What I;m Looking For. You noted the beatboxing and the harmonica (fans usually say its 'nomonica'). In the studio version here, they used multitracking, as Adaom Rupp did both parts, and in places they overlapped. In concert, they will use a looper, which is basically a realtime multitracking device, and they have often used this song to show, how that works, as this song includes that background ostinato (the 'dop, dop ... dop, dop) by Rob (big beard guy) and the jaw harp by Adam Chance (back left as they stood in this video), and they both have other things to sing while those sounds are going on. Besides that jaw harp sound is hard on Chance's throat. For many songs, particularly in concert, any or all of them may beatbox as needed, although Adam Rupp is the primary. On the Butts Medley, you will see Tim (the deepest bass) doing beatboxing right next to Rob as Rob raps, with Rod trying to get away because beatboxing splatters a lot of spit.
Hey Big Fellaz, just wanted to let you- if you like Tim Foust's bass, you have to react to HF's Brothers In Arms. Tim's bass will shake your headphones!
Subbed for more Home Free. Keep them coming. Home Fries will come out of the woodwork, if they haven't already. Thanks! I love VoicePlay, too. But these guys are just my favorite. They've got it all. Talent, easygoing personalities, intelligence, and they're funny, too. Thanks for reacting to them. P.S. the basses, Geoff and Tim Foust, are friends and VP and HF have also collaborated together. Layne has done arrangements for them. Geoff has, too. and there is a Zombies vs. Hillbillies video with Home Free and VoicePlay that's hilarious.
Nice reaction! Just subscribed in hopes of more Home Free reactions. I truly love them. They have such a variety of music and each will surprise you with their individual vocal ranges. ( Tim, the bass, has a 7+ octave range). Home Free will make you cry then dance then make you fall out of your chair laughing. Enjoy the ride!
I loved your reaction to our boys! Adam Rupp does the beat boxing, and his no-monica sounds just like a harmonica! Tim Foust is the bass and is friends with Geoff. Tim has a 5 octave range. Austin Brown, the man who started this song, is high tenor. Rob Lundquist, the man in the overalls, is tenor, and Adam Chance, who goes by Chance, is baritone-bass and does the jaw harp sounds in this song. Home Free leans country, but can do any genre. From R and B to classic rock to gospel and everything else pretty much. Some good songs to start with to get to know them and their ranges are End of the Road by Boys II Men, Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge, and American Pie by Don McLean, who actually sings with them. Fans of Home Free are called Home Fries and will flock to your channel if you choose to go down the Home Free rabbit hole! New sub here. Thank you for a great reaction!
I've seen/heard them in concert/party and they're great. Rarely off-key. Funny, serious, whatever they do is top-notch. You just showed up (for me) on YT, so will be checking out more of your reactions. My favorite back-to-back reactions are 'The Butts Medley ' followed by '2 Country Singers try singing opera '.
Wonderful reaction! I am so glad you enjoyed Home Free and I look forward to more, they have SO many. Oh, Voice Play and Home Free do one together and it is great fun.
New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas that excel in all music genres. They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and their Stargazer Lilies trilogy, Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...the list goes on. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Adam Chance just wrote the theme song to Ubisoft's new Pirate themed video game, Skull and Bones and Home Free performs it. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!
Man, if you like Voice Play, now you've discovered Home Free. Are you ready for the best yet? Time to check out 3 time Grammy award winning Pentatonix! They just got their star on the Hollywood walk of fame! If you want to EASE in I suggest Hallelujah, if you want your brain to explode, check out their Daft Punk medley. Careful don't say I didn't warn ya🎉
Adam Rupp is a freak of nature. Lol! You might want to check out his drum solo, Home Free: Drum Solo [SPM ST15]. This is the one I always send people to. Also, the rest of the group are fairly well versed in beatboxing, take a listen to this one, Home Free - 9 to 5 + Beatboxing Breakdown, October 27, 2015. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Geoff has a short video out talking about how to hit the bass notes. He gives Tim Foust credit for helping him reach these notes. Great reactions, have a great day.
The singer in Man from Constant Sorrow was not George Clooney who can't carry a tune. The Soggy Bottom Boys lead singer is actually Dan Tyminski, lead singer for the bluegrass band Union Station who does a lot of the backup instrumentals for Alison Krauss. This is Dan singing it in concert: ua-cam.com/video/EuJ8xEByUf4/v-deo.html That's Alison Krauss on the fiddle.
If you were to place vocal bands, you just stepped into the best out there. Voice Play is, perhaps, third. Pentatonics is second, yet can’t reach the diversity of Home Free. Voice Play tends to be more theatrical, but falls a little short in its vocal interpretation.
No acapella group can create the illusion of a full band the way these brothers can. Their beatboxer is world class and no one can simulate a bass instrument better than Tim Foust. They can all beatbox besides being the vocal assassins that they are.

Welcome to Home Free.
You'll find we Home Fries prefer to call that Adam's "nomonica". No harmonica, just a ton of talent.
3 of them are actually from the deep south 🤘🤠🤘
Home Free is so incredibly versatile and can do any genre. Their covers are usually upgrades and their original music is amazing. R&b - When A Man Loves a Woman, Doobies - Listen To The Music, Pop - End Of The Road, Country - Fishing In The Dark/Boondocks mashup, Folk - Take Me Home Country Roads, Gospel - How Great Thou Art.
Wow those are quite a selection and good music genres. I'm excited check them out! Thank you ❤️
Great reaction ♥️🤠 HF. Voice play and Home Free were on the same season of the Sing off. Home Free won the contest. Both groups are good friends.
The bass singer is Tim Foust. With a 5 octave voice range he an sing pretty much anything in whatever key he chooses.
Home Free is incredible. Everything they do is great. And although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. There is no permanent lead singer. Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible.
Austin Brown-High tenor with his great runs and high notes.
Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses)-Tenor, with a voice like velvet and so much soul.
Adam Chance (back left, who is called Chance) - Baritone/ Bass, a voice so smooth and sexy. And who here also makes the Jaw harp sound.

Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens.
(Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.”
You are doomed, Home Fry.
Ck out End of the Road and Listen to the Music
You will quickly become a Home Fry.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Aside from Adam Rupp three others in the group can beat box as well, the mouth harp sound at the beginning and end of the video is Chance in the black vest.
Great reaction, Big Fellaz. Subbed for more Home Free, they have over 300 videos. In my opinion, HF is the best!
Just subbed for more Home Free! You can't pick a bad song from them. Can't wait to see what's next! 😊
Thank you ❤️ 🙏
Home Free are goofy guys too. And sometimes deadly serious.
For fun, try “Champagne Taste of a Beer Budget”.
For amazing music, “Listen to the Music”.
For bass, “Folsom Prison Blues”.
These guys toured with Voice Play after The Sing Off, so they are friends.
Left to Right
Rob - Chance - Austin - Adam - Tim
This is a fun song. Thank you for the recommendations. I need to check those out! ❤️ 😎
This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle ANY other genre just as amazingly❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Some of my favorites are "Working for a Living", "Good 'Ol Country Harmony", "Land of the Free", "Remember This", "Elvira" (with the Oak Ridge Boys), "Undivided", "Timeless", "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sun Comes Up" (which is not on YT--it's on their official Facebook page), "Listen to the Music", "What's Left of My Heart", "Understand", and "Road Sweet Road" 😍!
These are just the most Awesome A cappella group out here…their harmonies are Always tight & just Beautiful 🎵🎶❣️💗🔥‼️
That's awesome! Thank you for watching and your recommendation. I'm excited to check those out ❤️ 💪
Here for Home Free! Keep em' coming! New sub here. 😊
So many great stuff to pick form. Enjoy
Thank you so much and for the support! ❤️
Great reaction man. Home Free and Voice Play are also very close friends and support each other's work.
Thank you. Absolutely going to get into these guys more! ❤️ 💪
Thank you so much! ❤️
Subscribed for Home Free 🤘🤠🤘
Thank you Sue for the recommendations and your support! Excited to check the list out!! ❤️ 💪
Enjoyed your reaction.....I just subbed for more Home Free....let your journey begin! Lots of great suggestions in the other comments!
Thank you for joining the fam! ❤️
Love this community!
Tim's bass notes here are not the lowest he can go. He has a full five octave range and can sing sweet as the birds in his high range too.
Tim the base and Jeff are friends and he has taught Jeff to be the base he is now.
New Home Fry Subscribed! 🍟🍟
CHECK OUT SURVIVER BY HOME FREE AND VOICE PLAY: ZOMBIES VS HILLBILLIES- HILARIOUS
Wow! Zombies and hillbillies. Sounds fun 🥳
New sub because of home free, great reaction?
New sub. Love acapella!
You should check out Home Free vs Voiceplay doing the Hillbilly vs Zombie song

If you were to place vocal bands, you just stepped into the best out there. Voice Play is, perhaps, third. Pentatonics is second, yet can’t reach the diversity of Home Free. Voice Play tends to be more theatrical, but falls a little short in its vocal interpretation.
