- The developers of Teamfight Tactics are on the roll again and the first patch of 2024 was really big. With the winter break being officially over, Riot is back stronger than ever and immediately started to cook. We got to see some balance changes, but also some new portals such as Crab Rave! All of the PvE rounds are replaced with dancing crabs, and later in the game you face a "Monster Crab". But this fight won't be easy and many players are struggling to get through this part. Is there a way to win against a giant Scuttle? Let's find out!

Yasuo headliner 3* can also beat this crab pretty easily. His spell do massive single target dmg, he has a lot of omnivamp and he can execute the crab
Apparently Olaf*3 with Guinsoo also has a great matchup for similar reasons, though it's a bit rare to see that setup
i prefer the 6 mosher comp with jax 3 headliner to beat this crab rave
@@leduckwell, with guinsoos maybe. I had a 3* olaf 6 bruiser karthus setup. Items were steraks bt titans, with inspiring epitaph and i still lost.
if you play yasuo headliner you will die before 4-1...
Glad they decided to bring last set Chogath experience to this set as well.
I remember we still had 6 players left till 5-6, and then after this crab there were only 2 players left 😂
love the concept, though it does suck that some comps are just better suited then others to deal with the rave. feels like you get punished for playing a karthus board or any of the other comps that just have bad matchups against the crab, but thats a minor gripe
But you know that the crab will come, so its your fault for picking a worse board. Thats the same with other regions too, does it impact in this case more? Yes. Is it possible without those setups? Yes.
It was always fun, when you could lose against the dragon etc. in the old sets.

@@thordaleExcept it isn't. Every top 4 is Disco TF, Yone/Riven reroll, or Karthus with the occasional AD flex if it's high rolled.
You get more items, gurantee at least 10 gold since stage 1, and in return the crab provide a high risk high reward balance
For Disco comp it is similar to KDA comp, preferably Headliner Sentinel Blitzcrank. You'll need TF + Ahri (with gunblade if possible) and 4 Sentinel. It works because all yours 1-2 star unit will die and TF+Ahri will self heal each other with sentinel trait giving them armor/mr. Headliner blitzcrank also help deal 1% max hp/2 sec damage through passive.

Could you also exlore, how to beat 1-3 and 1-4 with least amounts of units, simillar to the video with 1-3 olaf and tahm kench? It would be really helpful
crab rave big funny, had a disco headliner TF with radiant nashors, gunblade and rageblade and he dealt with the crab rave quite well

deathfire grasp's damage was insane to that thing
I like it because it fundamentally changes how you itemize and which comp and augments you want to prioritize. It's like Wandering Trainers portal, but less degenerate.
TF with disco is really good against the crab, he scale up overtime and reduce MR overtime make his damage go crazy, with disco healing and blitz also deal max health damage. I run TF with gunblade that time so not sure if other item is good.
I LOVE crab rave. I've lost the fight so much and I still adore it.

Yone and Riven with their usual builds is fine. I also managed to beat it with a Disco comp with a hoj on TF and a healing Sona 1
I would like to nominate other options:
Yasuo Reroll comp with Hoj + Healing Augment like vampirism or 6 true dmg version with other strong supporting units works well.
Blitzcrank with 1 tank 1 damage and 1 healing item. He deals % max health, needs just a bit of tankiness to survive long enough, attack speed allows for more procs. Disco boards naturally have a similar setup, so be on the lookout for potential items to put on him to deal with this.
Kayle Reroll with not AP items, but attack speed items like Rageblade, Red buff and Gunblade is pretty good as well. Usually with 7 pentakill and 3 edgelord she alone dishes out 10-15k dmg depending on your setup.
Double Trouble Twitch/Vex, with your second Twitch having a gunblade or one Vex.
6 Mosher with 3 Star Gnar or version with Poppy headliner and sett 2 with tanky items on him and BT/Hoj/Gunblade + 1 damage + 1 tank item on Poppy.
Zed with IE/HoJ/HoJ is a beast at this as well.
I used EDM Jax. The mosher trait + HOJ was enough to keep him going, and if I remember correctly, it wasn't actually a close fight at all.

I had hyperpop 3 with lulu tf and ziggs 2*, tf had full items and he did like 10k in 10 seconds of the fight haha
Mosher/Emo with poppy carry(BT, TR and HoJ) got me through Stage 5 and 6 Scuttle
reminds me of when i tried dota underlords and the pve rounds would just mulch my board cuz they hit so hard. not sure if underlords has pve rounds anymore
It just needs to not be pure st if they are going to make it explode backliners. Have little crabs come out that share hp with the big one so things like karthus, caitlyn, ez, akali actually do any sort of damage to the crab.
Alternatively at least make the damage fall off based on distance from the crab so it still hits backline but doesn't put them on a 10 second clock. AS Sona and Jhin should both theoretically be good for the crab due to high st damage, but the former straight up won't cast and the latter also dies before he ramps.

I ran a standart Disco board and could also kill the crab. To be fair, the only Units left at the end were Blitzcrank and Ekko, but it died
hello, a bit off topic, but is crab rave available in Double-up mode? Havent seen it once since the patch.

in disco comp you only need itemized tf and itemized blitz instead of 2 dps. Blitz ability does percent health dmg and he is pretty tanky and tf has good single target dmg with mgaic shred built in.
yeah, blitz and TF are a good choice vs the crap. Disco helps with the healing needed too.
Ive never not laughed losing to crab rave its the best portal by far
Tf with gunblade is also really good as he turns into a single target nuker
Negate damage Items and Healing works very well, my 2 Star Ekko with JakSho, Heartsteel and Claw always survives, same as my 2 Star Neeko with JakSho and Warmogs
to add to the other things mentioned in comments, in my experience country if you have 7 country could barely beat it but it's doable and zed comp can clear it easily.
When i know its a boss fight, i only think of a hyper AD Carry with good attackspeed and lifesteal that wont die
I have played a full guardian Comp with the augment that makes their shield deal damage, had pantheon 3 star as headliner and killed the crab with 4 units left.
Is there an updated version for the new set?
Does the crab do AD, AP or true damage? Can Sentinels help the team survive? Or maybe having Bruisers with a lot of health?
if the bruisers have enough damage, maybe, since they will most likely outlive your dps/carries
I was able to beat the crab using the Country trait, luckily i had a bit of healing on my sett and urgot due to moshers and i did have a 3* tahm with evenshroud for samira 2* and thresh with ironic spark for full built kat to shred health
forgot to note that 5 country was actually the dreadstead that beat the crab with a clutch because of the ability to heal on dmg dealt
Riven 3 and Yone 3 does this easily as well. Especially Yone 3 because of HoJ and his built in omnivamp on his skill
I see a bug that when you have healing orbs and kill a crowd diver unit the augment heals the backline and not the frontline
I won this round 2 times with Yasuo reroll... And both times nearly dead Ekko finished crab. Every time I thought I lost. Funny shit.)
well i gotta say i beated monster crab with headlinder olaf with 6 bruisers and him having 3 titanics and second fight at stage 6 sett with 6 bruisers 4 moshers and he had dragon claw, evenshroud, and titanic as well

imo this is exactly what the portals should do. Have an impact you gotta play around somehow.
One of the very few things that beats TT2
4+ super fan, 3 star gnar with BT/titans or BT/Sterak’s and sentinel 2 active is also enough. FYI. I’ve squeezed that past the crab on more than one occasion. Totally stole some fights.
I love the crab, Difficult boss but thank god i never lost.
Once i got hard countered by enemy comp, and the he lost to the crab and i won the first place😂
the opposite happened to me, beat the crab while first place didn't, just to then knock me out next round
First game I played it, the crab beat all of us in top 4. All of us had strong boards but didn't have experience with it. 3rd and 4th went out. Glad I was healthy enough to survive.
We know that the crab has scaling dot, but at what rate exactly? From eyeballing the video, my thought that it increases by 150, 300, 450, etc.
Illaoi seems to be extremely good against her as of current may 2024 patch.
Fully itemized Blitz 2 can solo crab from 1/4 hp after all other units die and deal some damage
disco tf with hextech gunblade can also do it, and it's way faster than ahri
ive beaten the crap twice with poppy last stand. once in a punk comp and othe in a mosher something comp. but poppy heals a lor so its good for this fight

the ahri comp got defeated with 5 kda 5 spellweaver, karthus, sona and akali, all 2 star, that with bluebuff, shojin and gunblade on ahri, but then next round won while i still had the same board. IDK, WTF

So just to recap;
- 2-star Qiyana with perfect items
- Two Kayns (one a headliner), both with perfect items
- Two Ahri, both with perfect items
Those examples were just to showcase how in theory a powerful minimal setup can beat the crab by itself, this is far away from the actual game experience. Both Qiyana and Kayn have powerful kits to help you beat the crab and they don't require you to change much of your comp for the fight, so they are worth picking up if you come across them in Stage 4 or 5. Also Kayn Headliner only has +10 AP as combat value.

@@mo1ya938 I don’t think anyone thought it was impossible to beat the crab, no one needed proof it could be done. But in a video titled “how to beat crab rave” that gives three examples of the best units in the game with perfect items beating it, yeah I expected more useful information.
Imagine finding a video of someone playing Pokemon titled “how to beat the pokemon league” and their team consists of all Level 100 legendary pokemon.

No nerf is need, is perfect like that, hell even this cute crab save me a few times killing my oponents with better team than myself make me 4th or even 1st
I wonder if Country would be good to face Crab because you get Omnivamp from the Steed. I know Thresh’s stun won’t help but the rest of the units should be good to fight.
I had a nearly full 3* Country board that didn't finish him. But we got 2 of the anvils. Combat augs were lacking though.

Does Deathfire Grasp deal the full 20% hp dmg to that crab or it is limited? Execute effects too
It deals 4000 Damage, but because the Scuttle has 300 MR it gets reduced to 1333

To be honest I think they should buff the crab. He should have healing reduction just to spite disco players.
I think it's really fun and I don't think it should be changed. You get to know right at the start of the game, that this will be happening later. It changes how you play and plan your team, which I think adds a fun wrinkle.
my issue is that, for someone who doesn't play non-stop, you DON'T know that this is happening later. Or, you know, but you have no idea what it includes without watching a vid like this first. Does it do AD, AP, or true dmg? How much dmg does it actually do? Can frontliners take it on? I've only faced it once, and beat it easily. Others in the lobby with stronger boards than me lost to it. No idea what made one win and the other lose, which feels like poor design for something that'll come up only once every 40 games, with no easy way to test or practice against it
i use a lot of pentakill like viego or yorik they are very good whit healing items for crab rave
I had 3 star karthus and 7 pentakill full items viego 2 star and lost

I think the issue with Pentakill is that you can't rely on Karthus/Akali, since their kit is awful to deal with the Crab. A strong Yorick/Viego is likely your best bet, so in a way you are both right^^

@@rapidwaterwolf1 The problem is that her mana return is based on the amount of units that stay alive, so she only gets a single refund and not three.
Yasuo 3 with hoj IE and steracks with above 90% stacked ad won easily... Edgelords are super good against it

Probably not, mostly because his damage is miniscule and the crab keeps gaining damage infinitely
