- It’s hard to believe I’ve been at the ‘new shop’ for 10 Years now. A lot has changed since I first moved in in 2011. In this video I talk about those changes and what’s to come.

Probably the most polite automotive channel on UA-cam. Well mannered with no pompous attitude found on many channels. You know your topics and just because someone else doesn't know, that doesn't make them stupid. Hoping for another 10 years if not more.
Very nice shop, I definitely remember the red Subaru videos, when it used to look empty and echoey.
Dude I can’t believe it’s been 10 years in that shop. I still remember wayyyy back in the day when you did that box truck outside of your old place. Must have been 12 or 13 years ago at this point. Keep up the good work!!!

I have a similar one in a 87 c10 longbox with great suspension and engine with complete factory brown 2 tone paint.

Holy moly... its been 10 years. I still remember watching you in your old garage, showing stuff on civics (i had 2x swapped CRX so i was interested). Damn time flies by.
Wow Eric how far you’ve come. Just watched an old video of you in the old shop, without a lift, putting transfer case back in. You were laying on your back with it on your chest. Bet you don’t miss those days. Does’t seem like 10 years.

Seriously went by quick. I found this channel when he was in his old shop replacing an engine in a black Chevy
as long as it doesnt verbally say "Hi" back .. your doing ok .. when it does it is time for a vacation, or a move ..haha

Eric, wow crazy how far you've gone in your journey. I always wish you the best, and I've enjoyed watching your show for such a long time. Its always good to come home from work and see what you have on every Monday and Friday. Take care and best of luck in the future

Been watching you since you had the Subaru Legacy, and you were rebuilding your Odessy Transmission a gaziilion times. Even DM'd you some tips on what might be wrong with your Subaru (as I was a Subaru Technician at the time) and we went back and forth a few times on it. It has been awesome watching you grow.
Wow I swear I remember watching your videos since the old shop, so awesome you got this new shop. And been watching since then, definitely helped push me towards automotive even more. ETCG is definitely one of the founding fathers of my automotive passion 😂

Hey Eric, congrats on 10 years man, been watching since around the time you swapped that locked up Dodge engine into that truck.
With the growing fleet maybe look into some of those lifts Tavarish has in his shop, looks like they make storing and working on cars so much easier.
I had the opportunity to get one of those but declined. I'm going to wait until I move to a bigger place and revisit that prospect. Thanks for the comment.
Good luck with Monster. Stay on top of them because they have a long list of complaints for failed transmissions.
Good lord.....TEN years?!?? That went by way too fast; I remember the day the videos posted of you giving clues to the upgrade, and then you showing us the shop for the first time. I was probably just as excited as you were of it! 😂
Keep up the awesome footage, and maybe in another ten years, you can do another ten-year shop tour! :-)

that's amazing that it's been 10 years. i feel like i've been along for the ride watching all your vids from this shop for so many years now. it's kinda like jerry's apartment on seinfeld, a place that has become its own character on your channel.

Those days of fighting the old shop dragging around those old dodge truck engines over a bad floor are a thing of the past.
I well up every time I see the 2016 meetup board. My signature is somewhere there. This was a pivotal event in my life changing it for the better, thank you, Eric!

Hey Eric, great video. I would have thought you owned the building because of the improvements made.
I looked into it, but it's in a flood zone, a brown zone, and the city won't allow any new development of the property. Didn't seem like a good investment.

I just watched some older videos of doing Subaru axles. It was odd seeing that fancy shop and you still having to crawl around on the floor. Remember the hate you got when putting the lift in?
Yea, the lift was a 'thing' for a while.
Would love to see more on the gearwrench cart that looked like a lockable swing out door on the side @ETCG1
Back when I was working in a shop/auto parts store, we used to have a battery dolly.
Makes moving a battery around the shop a breeze.
Doesn’t take up a lot of space, and you often can have a jump pack, or 2nd battery on a second shelf on them.
Good stuff, and it’ll save your back!

I remember when you got that shop.
10 years went by in a blink!! I remember you working on your back in that poorly lit, narrow shop when I first found your channel. I think it was a Chevy Tahoe you were working on, with coolant all over the floor, lol. Engine swap if I remember right. I was doing the same thing, working outside in the driveway since my barn had a dirt floor and all the cars were parked in there. Many battles fought on the ground, with eyes full of rust! I just finished my shop 3 years ago, and got the lift set up in there. What a HUGE difference! But I find myself tiring of modern automotive engineering as of late. I need a reset here. Still thankful to have what I have, as you are - I know the feeling!

@@ETCG1 - Thanks, Eric - it is! Instead of wanting to crawl into bed at 6pm, I find I still have energy now. It's amazing how much energy it takes getting out from under a car, getting back on your feet, walking to the toolbox, then crawling back underneath takes, along with pumping jacks all day. Made an amazing difference in my energy level having the lift.
When do we stop calling it the new shop? Lol. Congrats. Keep it up.

RIP 4L60E. My old 4L80E has 250k miles on it, and I heard from Car Wizard they use the 4L80E for old jaguar V12s!
Actually it was the TH400 they used in old Jaguars, I believe before the 4L80E was around. The 4L60E is an electronic TH400. Thanks for the comment.

Man how the years fly by. I remember when I first started watching you and you were renting that little Shop and the landlord tried to screw you over and locked you out. I was so happy when you got this new place. And I’m very happy to still see you there today. What an amazing journey it’s been my friend 🍻💯
That's not exactly true. I used to own the building where the old shop was. During that time I went bankrupt and the building went into foreclosure. The guy with the business next door bought the building and without telling me, changed the lock on my door and held my tools and equipment hostage until I paid him.
I’ve learned so much watching ETCG videos. Timing belt job, brakes, clutch slave cylinder, radiator, brakes, you name it...I’ve actually watched many videos several times, just for the great feeling. It’s been a great journey...keep staying dirty!

I remember the garage with the hump you couldn’t get the cherry picker over lol
9 years...9 more years and I hope to have my retirement shop. Planning on 40x60, thinking about a lift because I'm really not a mechanic, and more of a woodworker, but would it be nice to have a lift to work on my truck! Can't build the shop until we decide where we're moving to. If I can convince SWMBO to just build on our 11 acres, I may start the shop before the house (I'm allowed an outbuilding before having a home on it).

Mechanics should aspire to Eric's level of organization. His shops' tidyness hopefully is a testament to his quality of work. Most shops I've worked at look like a hurricane of parts and oil stains.

Man, that means that I've been subscribed to your channels for 10 years as well! I still remember watching your last few videos from out of the old shop, and you grunted at that Cherokee with a blown engine that gave you so much headache (I think the first ETCG video I watched was when you sent that thing off never to return) ;-) - it's been a long time, and even though I haven't watched all of your videos, I've watched most of them. Congrats on the 10 years!

How big is the shop? Sometimes it looks huge and sometimes quite narrow. I’m thinking about building one ~25 x 50ft to be able to work on 2-3 cars in parallel, but I’m not sure it will be big enough.
I could only dream of having any tool set like yours.

What? How long have I been here? What year is it?
I can't say whether or not I was the one who generated the content of this video, but I was watching an old video of Eric's and it happened to be when he 1st moved into this shop. I remember the work you did on the Subaru, a Red Kia sedan and a few others. This was waaaay before you had the lift. In fact, if I remember correctly, you were somewhat reluctant to get a lift at that time! LOL Now your shop is full of equipment, tools, parts and cars! Congrats on 10 years Eric! You're 1 of the 1st to do it on UA-cam. Take care!
