I always remembered Yajirobe as some sort of comedic relief character but I just watched the Senior Piccolo saga, where Goku first meets Yajirobe and it was like my third eye opened. Yaji is kind of a badass. Yea he is a coward, but holy shit he's also kind of a badass for all the reasons you mentioned. Like how he just killed Cymbal, dueled Goku (after Goku just stole his meal) and then carries the wounded Goku up the freakin tower! Like at this point almost nobody ever climbed that tower and Yaji just casually does it with Goku on his back!!! Totally agree, Yajirobe is in all likelyhood the most underrated character. People bash him for his weight and his cowardice, but the bro is stronger than most earthlings and saved earth on multiple occasions. He freaking cut Vegetas Tail off when everything was fucked in DBZ. Dude is an unsung hero.
Yajirobe was my favourite from the episode, he was a opposite of Goku as a mountain wildman,a japanese theme instead of chinese. Also,he used a sword and i considered it smart and useful more than a staff. Seeing how it was effective against Vegeta, why did they not think of using it again?
Yajirobe is the goat, but only he know how to use a sword so effectively. I have a theory that the Destroc Disk of Krillin was inspired by Yajirobe’s sword skills.
Yajirobe is earth’s most naturally strong warrior. The man was just living his life and already was leagues above earth’s greatest martial artists like Roshi and Tien. Probably the only human at that point in the series that could have beaten him would have been Mutaito, but I doubt ki control can do much of anything against a sword.

Thank you!
Don’t forget yajirobe can defeat raditz
He can No Diff Raditz. That puts Yajirobe at Moon to Brown Dwarf (dwarf star) levels in strength, depending on how you scale the series.

Good idea
Cymbal wasnt as strong as Tambourine.
That’s true, but it’s still impressive that this regular human in Yajirobe could win, proving that he is on Goku’s level at least.
