Body Language Drama - Colbert v Conan REUPLOAD

- THIS IS NOT MY VIDEO. I DID NOT MAKE THIS. For more backgroud, keep reading.
I watched this video a while back and now whenever I see this interview I can't help but notice these things. I went to rewatch it today but couldn't find it. Turns out the Channel containing these was torched, but a Twitter remains intact. ( / staywokebld )
This video is a reupload of a reupload to the "Cringetopia" subreddit. ( / guy_extremely_over_ana... )
What's interesting is that in an /r/videos discussion, someone notes that this same person uploaded a Stranger Things video (discussed here old.reddit.com/r/videos/comme..., and in it said that "he was going to release a video he was working on for a long time that was steeped in conspiracy and was going to shine a light on alot of dark and disturbing things about the hollywood actors and elite." An argument ensues whether the above Twitter is actually him (as far as I know it is, I remember watching both RDJ videos on his channel.) Occam's Razor is that he got DMCAed out of existence but who knows. I am curious as to what happened.
I would hate for this dude to analyze my conversations with my best friends.
This is a funny comment

"By wearing glasses, Colbert is clearly trying to belittle Conan by showing off his more accurate eyesight"
Conan is far funnier and more talented as a host than Colbert. Conan is the last remnant of the days when late night talk shows were still funny
Absolutely
@@Cryptic-cy3xr In my mind I uttered the same word. I saw the comment, and had to click the like button to support the likemindedness.
Conan is an all time great like top 3 late night hosts IMO… Colbert the character from the report is my favorite though.
ok relax with the boomer talk lol
Conan is the last remaining talkshow that is actually A TALKSHOW and not either political putdowns or popular gameshow mocks.
Colbert can’t stand the fact that even his own audience likes Conan more.
Colbert is trying so hard to be what Conan is naturally, and he fails miserably at it every single time.
This feels like an overanalyses to such a simple interaction.
Yeah I know we can see how Colbert is trying to compete with Conan without this guy's narration lol
It's not actually, the first part with sitting down already proves it.
i don't know but i like it
Agreed. Not sure why such this video is here. Overanalysing at comedic bits is sad. They’re very great friends and you’ll know it especially if you listen to Conan needs a friend podcast
literally every 'body language analysis' video
"5 or 6 points is enough to know he's doing this intentionally"
Yeah, it's called a bit.
This is so ridiculous. These guys are literal, actual real life friends who love playing things up for comedic effect. Just look at their respective ski lift stories. The truth is, they met at a ski resort and had dinner together. The stories they tell (at different times to the same podcast) are outlandish tales of ridiculousness which is an homage to the Aristocrats joke where every comedian who tells the joke tries to make it crazier than the last guy who told it.
Ikr? People forget late night is not a conversation as much as it's a conversation performance
Whoever made this probably thinks the Huckabee battle between Conan, Colbert, and Stewart was real, too.
Certain people will buy anything, so long as it's delivered in a quasi-rational, calm tone of voice, and feeds their desire to choose a side. I'm a huge Conan fan, and find Colbert's late night show woefully unfunny. I would very much like to believe that one is an asshole behind closed doors and the other isn't, but this video embodies the kind of shady evidence a bad lawyer might present to win a case they ought to lose on moral grounds.
This is so well put. I found myself skeptical of the video at the beginning, but throughout was slowly believing how the video portrayed these people. Your comment shook me out of that, thank you.
Yep. Colbert may be a shadow of his former self, comedically. But a bad guy he is not.
Spot on. Complete hogwash
Exactly. Their interaction appears like banter between good friends, not one trying to put down the other
OR and this is just my guess, you're reading too much into nothing and you're being a para-social andy
I honestly think this is suuuuuch a huge reach. Literally seems like two guys joking around with each other. In fact, Conan has talked on his podcast about how much he likes Stephen and even hung out with him when their families bumped into each other at a ski resort. Conan seems to be acting exactly like he usually does... And so does Stephen.
Yea but there is a subtle feeling there the whole time. Being in public makes this kind of stuff very visible due to the audience reacting to every line and vibe thrown between them. in regular conversations, you wouldn’t have that.
My thoughts exactly, well put.
Yeah, they're just joking around. A lot of comedians tend to jab each other for the sake of comedy. Any of the "body language interpreters" on UA-cam should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Agreed.
I figured the same but they both are late night host, so there might still be a sense of competition between the hosts
This whole video misses what is happening, conan's style is usually self deprecating, so colbert keeps setting him up for jokes, which makes conan look good. Also they are literally almost laughing about the height difference thing.
Have you never seen two guys joking with each other?
thank you, I thought I was the only sane person here
Totally agreed. I'd argue that this counter applies, but in a totally familiar comedian/host context.
Sure they might play up their egos a bit to the audience. But they're not amateurs. Neither one is slipping. They're hamming it up for the crowd.
"Literally almost laughing" - also known as not laughing?
The conflict is there whether or not they’re doing it for comedic purposes though
I completely disagree, there is obviously some bad blood here, it's too obvious to explain it
Colbert is like the anti-Craig Ferguson throughout this interview
Gotta admit they’re both experts at this. It’s like an invisible duel if you don’t know what to look for.
Not really. Colbert makes his guests feel uncomfortable all the time. I use to love him but fame has ruined him. Conan has stayed humble his entire career.
That’s because most of what this guy is looking for isn’t there.

Listen to him on Conan’s podcast lmao. He talks about how much he admires Conan and how their families met up after the tonight show debacle. This is beyond stupid.
No, It's real. Colbert resents Conan. It's maybe because Conan rejected him on NBC. He also said that he'd never make into show biz. You'd feel that in the interview. apprantely you can't SEE people in podcasts. that's why you might not know the hatred.
"talks"
Yea this beef is all for show since the tonight show it’s a thing they do for many years with Jon swart
@@ark4710 that was a joke
Watch the original interview, notice near the beginning when Conan says Colbert is doing a great job with his show he puts his to the side of his cheek and puffs his cheek out. It's a discomfort sign, it could mean he's lying (maybe just a little) but it could be jealously of sorts, Conans upset because he believes it and is so competitive.
thank you so much for reuploading
The "analyst" is really cooking up a lot of drama here. It's called banter.
Ya they are just messing around lol.

This is the funniest analysis of an interview lmfao
This is genuinely cringy to watch. A simple Google search is enough to know that Colbert and Conan have been amazing friends for decades with countless interactions and bits like this, not even mentioning that Conan’s whole sense of humor is based on self-deprecation. In fact, Conan’s favorite guests and closest friends in show business are those who dare to make fun of him or ‘roast’ him, he has built a whole career around this and he loves it, that’s why he is the absolute best. No wonder BLD channel is dead.
You're wrong about stephen. He's s tool who was threatened by conan being more liked than him
This is really dope, man. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This video is like one of those TV characters who overanalyze social situations and interactions (Sherlock, etc), except pretty much all of this was wrong
Exactly, he don’t understand that these guys are professional satirists and play characters to create intriguing dialogue.
You must be a colbert fan
@@rangerRick9895 teamcoco through and through baby. But its obvious Colbert isnt being malicious or anything and the OP is grasping for straws to make a video
Omg THESE ARE JOKES!
I know, right? I’m surprised by how many people don’t get how Stephen and Conan have known each other for over a decade and are messing with each other. The guy who made this video is reframing it as if it’s some hidden, subtle thing, when the reality is that he’s trying to explain a joke to everyone in the room who GOT it before he did...
@@Amblin80s nah humans have feelings and it shows in their body language.
They are not entirely jokes I believe was the premise of this video.
Nah I completely see what’s happening between the two. It’s clear there’s some sort of power struggle. But after sorting out their differences, you can see they respect each other much more now and are generally kinder to eachother.
People are idiots. The funny thing is that these are REHEARSED jokes.
Conan is one of those comedians that once they pass they’ll leave years and years of laughter
This poor guy doesn't understand social interaction
This was actually great never seen a vid like this ever
Appreciate the description ! Never knew why the UA-cam decided to ghost his channel
Hes latest video was supposed to be some controversial Hollywood interviews..
Like interview with Jeffrey epstein..
But animal abuse videos are all good with UA-cam. You can report them time and time again but nothing happens. But anything pro woman or pro child gets taken down.
I've never found colbert funny- Conan comedic legend
Another tell that isn't covered is the fact that Conan will always "yes and", even when jokes are at his expense eg. any time Martin Short rips into him, he loves it. This was an attack and Conan holds back on the "yes and" with Colbert.
That was a fantastic video, hope that the dude that made it is all good
Cool stuff. Would definitely watch more of these body language analysis. Most other videos on body language are plain clueless and lack context. You're pretty cool. Sub!
Wow, this video is absurdly bad. Who would've known that waiting for your guest to sit down before you do isn't just a common practice to make sure your guest is comfortable, it's secretly a power play to win the honor of looking down at your guest for a half second while you sit down. And apparently Conan telling a story on a talk show isn't just him doing the thing that literally everyone does when they go onto talk shows, it's actually a secret ploy to stall for time because he couldn't possibly bear the humiliation of Colbert teasing him about some awkward photo he took as a kid. We know this because he makes a sad face at 5:44, a face which just so happens to be identical to the sad face he makes on his show when he pretends to be sad for the sake of laughs.
Like yeah, there's always some subtext in an interaction, but you could use this video's style of analysis to project any narrative onto anything. Does someone offer you a drink when you're at their house? They're secretly trying to signal their power over you because they have access to drinks and you don't. Do they offer to sleep on the floor while you take the bed? That's actually a power move because from an evolutionary perspective the bed leaves you exposed in the air, vulnerable to the attacks of the predator lying in wait below you!
Yes, those kinds of subtle power plays definitely exist, but you need evidence that that's what's happening, you can't just make up whatever story sounds plausible and call it a day. How is that supposed to be convincing?
Nice try, Stephen.
Love the ending of your video
Brilliant video
I would love to see Colbert and Maher body language. Their interviews are so tense.
I second this
lmao this was such a good channel
I was trying to find this video for 6 months. Hell yeah
I remember that in a video Conan did talk about last person to sit down as a power move between him and Colbert (now I can not find it again, maybe it was deleted). But at first, definitely Colbert was quite insecure when standing beside Conan. Not only Conan is an extremely well-loved and diverse comedian, but once Colbert used to apply to be Conan show's writer, but didn't get in (as they were talking in an interview on Conan show). And in that interview with Conan, he changed the subject and not really answer the question, it could be shown that he was feeling Conan is out of reach, so he had to buff himself up to be less insecure. But of course now Colbert has achievements of his own and can be proud of himself, and I mean, hardly anyone with a work ethics doesn't have respect for Conan - so now they are friends.
It's a good thing that Conan is a nice person and only dreamt of being a talk show host or in entertainment, else, with smarts like that... he will be doing lots of damage.
Conan has always been myfavorite late night host. He has the talent, humor and most importantly funny looking.
GREAT VIDEO
please do more
who even disliked ?
A very good analysis. He should make more. :)
people are reading too deep into this lol
Nah its fake now but it was real beef
Yep these body language analysis videos can be super cringe with some of the arm chair psychology used.
Looking so deeply into stuff like this honestly comes off as massive insecurity or some weird alpha male complex.
@@LegitimateBusinessPerson i agree
It’s all about who they respect. They try to “put in their place” those they admire so much. Great vid.
Bro the level of Manipulation is crazy 😂
I think i have never seen one of these videos with a happy end :)
That ending was beautiful man
I was about to dislike this until I read the description. Man this was tough to watch
Wow. The second Conan is on stage the show no longer belongs to Stephen.
It would be interesting to see how accurate this guy’s body-language-analysis truly is using science. Maybe set up a bar with hidden cameras, make predictions about hidden meanings in a conversation between two bar patrons, and then try to interview the bar patrons afterwards if they agree to him using their conversation as data.
e.g.
“Yeah, I’m not to lie I was trying to pull a power move on him there!”
Colbert's problem is that he never allows his guest to be funnier than him... especially comedians. Most hosts, including Conan, sit back and let the comedian go wild while playing the straight man. Colbert never does this and it just kills the interview for me.
Check the Bill Burr interview, it's a school bus into a dumpster fire.
@@GoodCharms yeah, I've seen that as well.
They've always done the double story tell on similar topics, like there's some truth there but it's muddled in each version. Like the Skii incident story.
Also, early on Stephen was keeping Conan's trope of how he belittles himself on camera, but the second go around was an actual farewell as you can see that Conan's show was reaching an end of late night soon as they had major cutbacks by that point. It was almost like respect for Conan steering a sinking ship. I really hope Conan comebacks on Twitch or livestream service cause he's genuinely amazing. I like how he doesn't get to political because sometimes the world just needs to move on and laugh along together, everyone has differences no one will agree on everything but the things we can enjoy together helps break down those difference and accept each other for what we are every day versus who we are at home.
People may prefer Conan over most comedians, but don’t project your own opinion onto him. He has no beef with any other talk show host and respects each one.
I want to share my thoughts on this interview, even if it might come off as a bit pretentious or stating the obvious. However, I want to emphasize an important distinction that should be acknowledged. One that @coleeckerman1390 expressed. Many of the late-night hosts who followed Conan are not just colleagues but also his close friends. Several have openly thanked Conan for mentoring their hosting talents. In fact, most of the current late-night hosts have either worked for or collaborated with Conan in some capacity. When these comedic talents come together, it's like a game of comedic chicken, and we're privileged to witness legendary moments along the way.
I love Steven from Improv guy to Daily Show correspondent to Colbert Report to the Late Show, but he will never have the natural talent & charisma of Conan. He is at his best playing an exaggerated character.
Whereas Graham Norton sits down immediately because he doesn’t give a fuck about this stuff as he’s just a normal very funny human. Americans…who needs em.
I think Colbert as a whole is high on his own bullshit and thinks he's the new Bill Maher. The sad part is he's ruined the Letterman spot.
Yo, great read! It’s so fucking cool how you see all those details, because I saw it live ( Conan and Colbert fan) and just thought they were just busting balls. When you put these details out... fooook, see it. Anyways , ❤️ the Channel. Cheers! 🌳🔥☁️☁️☁️👽👽👽👽
I remember this. Colbert’s attitude was surprisingly immature. Whatever doe :D
colbert cant handle comedians. he is at his worst when he find him self in this kind of situations.
This is the dumbest video I have ever seen in my life but it gave me a good laugh so I thank you. Not a complete waste of time.
I’ve never seen someone need to show off their ego as much as Colbert
Make more of these please
well done
Colbert and Conan are the nicest and decent guys, you're looking at this in a negative way. There's nothing going on here but they're just having fun.
Damn right when I was gonna come back and check his channel after a year just to find his videos/channel was deleted
A friend of mine works at a hotel as a barista and he said he got to meet Conan, apparently he's a very nice a polite guy. He made conversation with him while waiting for his coffee and all that stuff. My friend did confirm that he is indeed very tall
These guys are performers
Colbert was still in his "Colbert Report" character
Oh my god. This guy's life must be really fucking exhausting if he thinks every interaction with anyone is a battle.
Wait till this guy discovers that Conan’s entire brand of comedy is self-deprecating.
Bro makes Saul Goodman sound like an angel
Idk I feel like this “science” is kinda overblown. Sometimes a smirk is just a smirk lol
Colbert used to be so great now hes completely sold his soul...
Empathy points will be a household phrase in 8 years

Conan is Irish Irish. Colbert is Anglo Irish
At least we have the comments to explain what's really happening
there are some observations that you just notice and people don't.. for people that aren't attentive to details will just think you're reading too much into certain situations
This is a conversation between two comedians. Nothing more
Bribfm seems like an alien who has studied people but has never actually met one

I actually wondered where this went, I loved the videos this person made, I believe there was one about jimmy kimmel as well, shame YT nuked it
5:25 The smile Conan cracked as he realized he left himself open for another attack from Stephen
this is hilarious
I would be interested to know if something called "comedy" has any part in this interaction?
this guy is a body language expert who doesn't understand sarcasm.
You're ridiculous making out that this is way more contentious than it is

I almost feel like this was a two-part bit they co-wrote lol
I wonder if the guy that made video knows that this is rehearsed.
I want to say to Colbert “Why so serious?”
this is psychotic I love it
I was searched for this video a while back but couldnt find it, Only to find it now as a reupload. Any one know why his channel was deleted.
Shumail Rafi apparently Colbert had his channel taken down
@@immygrxne9884 why?
this video is so wrong on many level it's almost reached satire level. No wonder the author decided to delete it (and his channel) lmao
dude no. I’m somewhat of a Conan’s big fan and I have watch the majority of his interview on UA-cam. Half of the stuff the author thought is subtle dig at Colbert is stuff that Conan casually did on a normal basis. He’s a performer - he like to ham it up for the audience sometimes.
And the whole “Colbert have bad feeling toward Conan because his writer application to Conan show back then was rejected” is also ridiculous. Colbert is a comedy writer, its very normal to getting rejected from TV show. Conan himself didn’t get to write on Letterman show, Kimmel was outright told by ABC that he will be replace by Conan when he first start and all these people still are friend.
This thing is Occam's razor, the simplest solution is the best one. It’s just two comedians, both knows for witty humor and exaggerated their personalities , tried to play it up for the crowd
I was brought up that you stand when I guest enters and sit after they sit
Keep it up
This is pretty spot on. I think there is OBVIOUSLY some bad blood between them but Conan being the more experiences and funnier one doesn't stoop down to Colbert's level
Damn... 2020 is just hell, flipped into a pancake..
No one's mentioned one glaring incident that may or may not have happened isn't taken into consideration @birbfm It was when Conan told him "I don't like you, go away". If he really did that, IMO, it's the classic celebrity/thirst monger deflection technique by Conan. But Colbert happened to climb the thirst ladder to the "top" and has one of the rare, but not so positive, joys of life, which is sweet revenge. Too bad he was outmatched.
