Thank you for posting the 3 languages! I was hoping you could post the Greek prayer phonetically? I lived in Cyprus for a year. I learned some that way. I'm already singing Anima Christi in Latin just by listening . You have a nice calm strong voice! Thank you! Jim in Mississippi 😊
Thank you, Jim, for your feedback! I'm sorry, but I don't think I can adequately put the Biblical Greek text in phonetically. God bless et oremus pro invicem!
How would you add in the part from Matthew 16:16 "son of the living god" to this prayer? As in for Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me a sinner (Domine Iesu Christi, Filius Dei vivi, miserere mei peccatoris). And would it be the same if I was to manipulate the prayer to Lord Jesus Christ son of the living god have mercy on us sinners and the whole world (Domine Iesu Christi, Filius Dei vivi, miserere nobis peccatoribus et totius mundi). Are my latin versions correct? PS thank you so much for your website and videos. Wish you could add some videos of your latin prayers an hour long of just the prayer on repeat so I can listen while at work so it sticks in my head - noticed its the best way for them to stick in my head (listen to then like a song). And the explanation on the prayers spot on for mental prayer - thank you so much!
You're welcome and thank you for your comment and suggestions! I like your idea, since I like that longer version in the English, but this the original, since the original Greek doesn't include that. You were close with your Latin, but you forgot that it uses the Vocative. Hence: Domine Jesu Christe, Fili Dei vivi, miserere mei peccatoris; Domine Jesu Christe, Fili Dei vivi, miserere nobis peccatoribus, et totius mundi. I hope that helps. God bless!
The Latin variant I've heard most is "Iesu Christe Filii Dei, Domine, miserere nobis peccatoribus" (O Jesus Christ Son of God, Lord, have mercy on us sinners). I like because it is closer to our liturgy and you ask for all, not just for one self (which is the same, oc, but...)
Thanks for sharing! I've never seen that version, but I'm pretty certain it should be Fili rather than Filii. Fili is the vocative for direct address; Filii would be Nom Pl or Gen S, neither of which make sense in context. God bless!
Hello. Thank you for your comment and may God bless you too! The 2 versions I mention in the video are the 2 most common on the internet and on artwork such as rings, etc. In fact, if you do a search for the Jesus Prayer in Latin, the one I mention first is the first you will find and is by far the most popular. The second one I mentioned is also found in that search as a far 2nd place. As I said, I have never come across the one mentioned in this comment above, and the Latin mentioned would be in fact incoherent due to the Filii. It also is a far less direct translation from the original Greek, which is of course from the outset of the Church the goal and strength of the Latin. Pax

I have also never seen your version! Where have you come across this? God Bless.
