    A concrete wall that close to the end of a runway is absolutely insane.. I'm a pilot and I've never seen anything like that. Also a simple birdstrike/gear issue doesnt account for comming in with no flaps, so spoilers, touching down so late, and not diverting to the longest runway within remaining fuel distance. A landing gear failure would be a terrifying but completely survivable incident.

      The "wall" is actually a concrete mounting for an antenna array. It looks just like an ILS approach antenna. Retired Aviator. Note: this plane over skidded past the runway and across a grassy area before hitting it. I assume he landed long and fast.

    • @williamm6446

      The localizer was supported by a meter high, reinforced concrete support. As you know most supports are flush. It was the meter high concrete supports for the localizer that did them in. So sad. Lots of errors here. No flaps, and gear, but thrust reverser on right engine. The hydraulics were working. Why not dump fuel?" Why ot divert to Busan or Seoul with 3750 meter runways.

      In the last minutes of the flight, passengers heard strange noises, and then felt shuttering, that led to violent ripping apart of the aircraft, only to be engulfed in flames. Screams and intense pain combined with extreme fear as they were burned alive. And they willingly paid a healthy fee to ride the death capsule all the way to the crash sight...

      Well diesel doesn't explode BUT if you ignite it it gets really HOT really FAST! With no landing gear why didn't these pilots dump fuel I mean the ocean was right there! And I really don't understand why they couldn't deploy that landing gear. I mean they had hydraulics AND there's redundancy cables to release the gear to allow gravity to deploy the gear. Also no flaps why no flaps. They had flight control so they had hydraulics. I think these pilots just completely lost situational awareness. Nope they had no idea WTF they were doing.

    I am Korean, and currently, there were 181 passengers on the Jeju Air flight, 179 of whom have died. The remaining two survivors are both Jeju Air flight attendants. These two attendants were seated in the back and managed to survive. Among the passengers were a couple returning from their honeymoon, as well as a woman in her 50s who had just finished her cancer treatment and was traveling. Most of the passengers were returning from family trips, but due to the sudden accident, it became impossible to even retrieve the bodies
    + Additionally, it is reported that the captain continued to make announcements telling passengers to call their families until the very last moment. It is believed that the captain steered the aircraft to crash into a wall, knowing that he would sacrifice himself. Please offer your deepest condolences for the captain of Jeju Air, who sacrificed himself until the very end.
    +Additionally, the reason the captain directed the aircraft toward the wall was because the other direction led to a village. If the plane had gone toward the village, the loss of life would have been much greater. The captain sacrificed himself, thinking of others even in his final moments, by steering the plane into the wall.

    A belly landing should not result in departing the runway at a high rate of speed and slamming into a berm. Something else must have been wrong or those pilots were terrible. Why didn't they dump fuel and go to an airport with a longer runway? Did they touch down at the beginning of the runway? How could they misjudge so badly the distance they would need to come to a stop?

    • @jlvandat69
      @jlvandat69 2 дні тому +8

      Initially, it appears multiple serious errors by the crew were made......something isn't adding up. They were able to perform a go-around on one engine, so they were in control, at least to some degree, but didn't perform most functions required for landing, and landed half-way down the runway. We are missing something important. Maybe something very odd....e.g., the bird strike also hit the windshield, causing some degree of incapacitation of crew....something very strange happened.

      A belly landing will result in departing the runway at a high rate of speed and slamming into a berm if the plane touches down to far down the runway as evidenced in the video. Course their has to be a solid berm to run into and that is what ultimately killed all those people. Blame is on the airport and whoever had a hand in designing that feature at the end of runway 19

    • @bobwoods1302
      @bobwoods1302 2 дні тому

      Now I`m wondering if maybe one of the engines was still producing thrust. Maybe they thought it was in reverse but it couldn't open because it was on the ground. Starboard engine appears to be in reverse but I can't tell if the port engine is.

      @@jamesadams893 There are lots of runways that have water, ravines, cliffs, highways, roads, blast fences, gas stations etc that you would hit if you overran the runway at this speed. Not having breakaway navigation equipment is not good though.

    First of all let the souls of those 179 passengers rest in peace🙏. As to the case, belly landings are part of standard landing procedures when landing gear failure happens and there are associated things that are done in order to mitigate the damage like covering the runway with foam to reduce friction but in this case it seems like the pilots have lost control of the aircraft.
