A concrete wall that close to the end of a runway is absolutely insane.. I'm a pilot and I've never seen anything like that. Also a simple birdstrike/gear issue doesnt account for comming in with no flaps, so spoilers, touching down so late, and not diverting to the longest runway within remaining fuel distance. A landing gear failure would be a terrifying but completely survivable incident.
The "wall" is actually a concrete mounting for an antenna array. It looks just like an ILS approach antenna. Retired Aviator. Note: this plane over skidded past the runway and across a grassy area before hitting it. I assume he landed long and fast.
The localizer was supported by a meter high, reinforced concrete support. As you know most supports are flush. It was the meter high concrete supports for the localizer that did them in. So sad. Lots of errors here. No flaps, and gear, but thrust reverser on right engine. The hydraulics were working. Why not dump fuel?" Why ot divert to Busan or Seoul with 3750 meter runways.

This is what happens when these flight companies make cuts to increase their profits. Guarantee this plan could have had better maintenance. In the U.S they replace broken pieces with older “not as broken” pieces because it’s cheaper than buying a whole new piece. Then a plane crashes and they blame it on the birds. Give me a break 🙄😒

It’s not out the norm a flight I was working from Atlanta to Charlotte front landing gear malfunctioned on the arrival and wouldn’t come out however the pilot was able to safely land it without any injuries but if all landing gear wouldn’t come out I most likely wouldn’t be here
I cant believe the consequence of disaster here in Korea. At this time of the year is supposed to be full of hopes and expectation toward upcoming things. What a mess. 2024 was kind of a devastating year for me and it feels like it is for every Korean. It was tough and we are still struggling but I sincerely hope 2025 is full of happiness with the loved ones.
A belly landing should not result in departing the runway at a high rate of speed and slamming into a berm. Something else must have been wrong or those pilots were terrible. Why didn't they dump fuel and go to an airport with a longer runway? Did they touch down at the beginning of the runway? How could they misjudge so badly the distance they would need to come to a stop?
Initially, it appears multiple serious errors by the crew were made......something isn't adding up. They were able to perform a go-around on one engine, so they were in control, at least to some degree, but didn't perform most functions required for landing, and landed half-way down the runway. We are missing something important. Maybe something very odd....e.g., the bird strike also hit the windshield, causing some degree of incapacitation of crew....something very strange happened.
A belly landing will result in departing the runway at a high rate of speed and slamming into a berm if the plane touches down to far down the runway as evidenced in the video. Course their has to be a solid berm to run into and that is what ultimately killed all those people. Blame is on the airport and whoever had a hand in designing that feature at the end of runway 19
Now I`m wondering if maybe one of the engines was still producing thrust. Maybe they thought it was in reverse but it couldn't open because it was on the ground. Starboard engine appears to be in reverse but I can't tell if the port engine is.
@@jamesadams893 There are lots of runways that have water, ravines, cliffs, highways, roads, blast fences, gas stations etc that you would hit if you overran the runway at this speed. Not having breakaway navigation equipment is not good though.
First of all let the souls of those 179 passengers rest in peace🙏. As to the case, belly landings are part of standard landing procedures when landing gear failure happens and there are associated things that are done in order to mitigate the damage like covering the runway with foam to reduce friction but in this case it seems like the pilots have lost control of the aircraft.
As a survivor of a car crash today.. 737 doesn’t have a fuel dump. They would have to go into a holding pattern and burn the fuel off and it looks like hydraulics were having an issue so that may not of been an option.
from the story the plane made one round before it landed, meaning the emergency belly landing has been expected and communicated to the ground? but why seemed there were no fire teams standing by around the runway

Where is my comment? I have FREE SPEECH too ! Guess I will have to sue youtube for 1 billion! Think I won't? Think again! Many lawyers will jump at chance!
My condolences to the victims 🙏
This aircraft declared an emergency the day before this wreck. This plane had issues and was forced back into service before being repaired.
My first question, why would someone be video taping this landing in the first place??
The witness who takes this video is the owner of a store where is very close from the airport (only 300m) so he knows the way airplanes fly very well. He saw that plane flied very weird and unusual way, so he went up to roof and took this video. At the end of the video, the plane exploded and he moaned with panic and shock
There are lots of videos on UA-cam of people recording landings and take offs. In almost every country. Airshows are often recorded too. People do it for fun, and for the memories, I don't think this person knew that the airplane would crash.
Dude people take videos and pictures of random sht all the time. Airplane videos are not weird or unusual.
Such horrific.so sorry.condolences to the families.from nairobi kenya
This is what happens when these flight companies make cuts to increase their profits. Guarantee this plan could have had better maintenance. In the U.S they replace broken pieces with older “not as broken” pieces because it’s cheaper than buying a whole new piece. Then a plane crashes and they blame it on the birds. Give me a break 🙄😒
Blaming it on birds is ridiculous simply because modern passenger planes like the 737 are supposed to be able to withstand bird strikes
My sincere condolences to the affected families from 🇰🇪
Condolences From Indonesia 🇮🇩
Deep condolences to the family from Namibia 🇳🇦 🙏
Sad to get news notification from NYT of a plane crash when I woke up this morning. It's been a difficult year for South Korea.
Praying for the loved ones of those that lost their lives in the crash
Omg how horrible. My heart is broken 💔 for S Koreans. My sincerest condolences 💐🙏🏻
Deepest condolences to the families that lost their loved ones 🙏🙏🙏
Terrible event!
Condolences to relatives of those, who perished!
Im really sorry for the loss of many lives😢😢😢. My prayers are with the families that ae grieving right now. May God comfort them with comfort like no other . Hugs hugs
The track was too short and why was there a wall at the end? I think most of the passengers would have survived if there hadn't been a wall at the end.
Brazil, Kazakhstan, now South Korea? As well as the ones that go unnoticed, it’s terrible.
in the US we've had a few incidents with boeing recently too, though not as big. seems like regulations aren't being followed like they should be, putting profits over people's lives
Which major airline crashes go unnoticed?
Air flaps were not engaged why? Why did they choose the short runway and not go to an airport with a longer runway?
Condolences to the families and friends. This is heartbreaking…. Our prayers are with you 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
In Korea, no media outlets report on this fact.
My heart goes out to each family member and all citizens of South Korea. This is such a heart wrenching incident. I pray you all find a gentle soul you help you at this time of sorrow. ❤😢❤😢❤😢
Condolences to the families of those passed away in this plane crush.. so sorry for them..may you be able to console..
They died in a wall crash, not a plane crash.
Just terrible. Pray there was no foul play. Two critical landing mechanisms failing is incredibly odd.
God Bless those that lost their lives ❤
You mean Buddah
My prayers and heart is with the families who lost loved ones and the country of South Korea❤️
Condolences to the families . So heartbreaking

737s can't dump fuel. Only burn it off. And there was something like 2 minutes between the mayday call and the landing. Shit went south real quick.
My condolences to all the families and also the victims🙏🩷🙏🩷🙏🩷🙏
As a survivor of a car crash today.. I’m deeply sorry and sad for the victims of this plane crash and their families… This is just a proof that we should pray and appreciate what we have in this life.. It’s very short believe me .. We could be on this plane . Stay strong your loved ones would be in a better place in this fucking damned planet…
What a shocking tragedy to end the year with! RIP
Haven't flown since 2018, the old planes will only start to fall apart, and the new ones are being built with missing parts. Ridiculous.
This is so sad 😢 condolences to all the Family 😞 RIP 🤍
This is why i never fly toward the end of the year
Nothing can survive that
May god rest their souls.
Surely if that wall wasn’t there at the end of the runway, the outcome would’ve been different. I hope all airports and airlines learn a lesson from this
Bird strike? Is that the go to excuse for not knowing what the hell happened these days...
don't forget that boieng had so many issues that even their employees wouldn't fly using their planes
I think they need a new airport manager. Why compromise the runway with obstructions? This is terrible.
Condolences to all those that lost loved ones. Sad day indeed😢
Don't they dump fuel if they know they're going to land in such a way?
737 doesn’t have a fuel dump. They would have to go into a holding pattern and burn the fuel off and it looks like hydraulics were having an issue so that may not of been an option.
Only 1 min to land with both engines on fire... u want to dump fuel or nosedive straight into sea?
@@CatskillProduction I think we need to stop buying flights if this is what the airlines are going to subject is yo.
from the story the plane made one round before it landed, meaning the emergency belly landing has been expected and communicated to the ground? but why seemed there were no fire teams standing by around the runway
I don’t understand why can they make the runway longer? Everybody would’ve been saved
It's longer but that speed can cover any distance is seconds
