  • L'Air Du Temps perfume by Nina Ricci is a floral perfume that came out in 1948 (it's also one of my favorite perfumes). Nina Ricci L'Air Du Temps was a very important perfume for its time as it symbolized peace after the war and the revival of femininity. It has top notes of Brazilian rosewood, carnation, peach, bergamot, and rose. The middle notes are carnation, cloves, gardenia, rose, violet, and orris root. The base notes are cedar, amber, sandalwood, and musk.

The fact that you compel your audience to situate ourselves in the actual time the perfume was most popular is what sets you apart from other reviewers. It's so interesting.

I always enjoy talking a little bit about a perfume's history.

l'air du temps also exists in eau de toilette. I prefer the eau de parfum. It is indeed a very nice perfume.

L'Air du Temps, the first perfume I was given in my life. I have always liked it. It always reminds me of my very first love.

I wore this constantly in the late 70s and early 80's. I was in my twinkling 20's. It was pure heaven. In the drydown, after several hours, it would surprise me with the most gorgeous wafts of a heavenly floral note. Maybe it was the iris supporting the jasmine and rose. And the carnation gave it some freshness. btw, No5 Eau Premiere doesn't get so civety like the original EDP. (typing while listening to your review) I bought a reformulated LAdT about 12 years ago (elongated bottle with sort of pedestal base), and it wasn't as good as the older version from 1970's. I'm wondering if the newer reform (shorter rounder fluted bottle) might be improved. Maybe the Ricci's had Kurkdjian work on it. Maybe that's why the prices are much higher than the elongated bottle. Thanks for talking about the history of L'Air du Temps. A friend I've lost touch with said it reeked of old lady. That made me sad, and I never wore the reformulated one after that. But she was besotted with La Vie Est Belle, so what does she know? I think L'Air du Temps is very beautiful. Maybe I'll spray it on a scarf again. Love your fun and informative videos.

My mum has just given me a nina ricci set with a couple of these mini bottles, soap and hand cream. She was gifted a few different sample sets late 70/s early 80's by my father's friend who was a perfume rep. One of the bottles has blue doves.

I get a full 100 ml bottle of the bottle with the 2 pigeons on the front of it. I guess its from lalique. Its a round flat glass bottle and on the package it says" with sprayer" . I know that the same Bottle was sold without sprayer before. Do anyone know when this version was sold and if its better than the new formula?

I know it gets tiring trying to hunt out vintage versions all the time, but any thoughts on the vintage versus the newest formulation of L'air Du Temps Eau de Parum, if you've had a chance to get your nose on it? I know the vintage version used real Mysore sandalwood...so that's one huge difference...

I'd love to compare the modern and vintage versions, but as you said, the vintage versions are often hard to find. The ones that are out there have often gone bad due to improper storage. I know a lot of people say that the vintage versions of perfumes are almost always better than the modern ones because perfume houses used more real ingredients back in the day.

@@willowschafer It's frustrating and you are totally right. Some of the vintage stuff just isn't stored right so you aren't getting those "real" ingredients anyway...

The problem is that l'air du temps is one of the scents that doesent age good. Youth dew vintagec from elizabeth arden smells perfect and is heavenly complex and beautiful. But i ordered my 4. Vintsge l'air du temps and all of them have turned bad over the years. Fall and Winter fragrances age better. The smell of l'air du temps reminds me very much of elizabeth ardens 5th avenue.

The only bright and floral perfume that has survived over 30 Years perfectly is couregges-in blue.
