One of my favorite BTS performances ever is actually "Black Swan" at James Corden. It was the first time they performed it, and it's so well done (eventhough j-hope got kicked in the face and almost got knocked-out due to a very small stage, but he carried on like the professional he is). Black Swan is just one of those performances I always look forward to.
Jimin is armys black swan as this song was made for him so he can show off his contemporary dance skills, This song was made for him and you can tell the passion he has for his dance just by watching this. Jimin is and will always be my black swan that swooped down to save me It is also about them losing their passion for music and then in the end finding it again. Black Swan is very artistic from the mv to the choreography especially the live performances of it are always something magical and Jimin IS the black swan, he excels here 🖤👏
Black Swan is a work of art. Period. My favorite live performance is probably from the MOST ON:E Concert..but that may be because of Jimin’s dance solo or the 2020 MMA performance 🙈

These guys put so much into perfecting their performances. Practicing together for 10+ hours every day for 8+ years until they are absolutely in since, singing on a treadmill to improve stamina with vocals... Perfection!

This song is, as so much of their catalog, so meaningful. The ideas of losing your passion for the thing you love (be it music or dance) is such a complex relatable feeling. The beautiful MV always gets me. There is an art film they had made with a European dance troupe and an instrumental arrangement of the song as part of a series of supporting and encouraging the arts… except Covid pre-emptied most of the 2020 projects they had planned around the art projects but do check out the art film it’s so beautiful and it’s a different feel. Also the live versions of this have so much variety. There is one (might be mma or mama?) that they do an extended version more contemporary like performing on water it’s stunning, so so so stunning with JK even lifting Jimin (while he’s standing in water how no one slipped I have no idea).

Like a year ago, I have found out that a colleague of mine from work, but from LA office is a rapper Clyde Kelly who co-wrote this lovely masterpiece :-) You should check out his music too :-) He liked the cooperation with BTS very much and confirmed that they are so nice to work with. The constant formation changes were the first thing I noticed when I watched their dances in the very beginning of me getting to know them. It was (and still) amazing to me how they do it so smoothly (and how the hell they even remember each position for the entire song with several songs in a concert. it's literally a mystery to me). I knew nothing about kpop back then and wasn't used to this "whoever is singing/rapping is in the middle" concept, but I love it since it makes the performance very dynamic, and you never get bored.
There are two version of this song. The first version is a small orchestra with a Asian picked instrument. It is performed by MN dance company. Before these videos came out there were "connect BTS" which was different art showing around the world. The first video starts with this quote "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” - Martha Graham. The songs contains the fear of the moment where BTS is no longer able to perform on the stage as an artist like in the song young forever or the moment when music does not move them. Sometimes if u don't know the history of the how ARMY got introduced to some of the songs then u lose some of the meaning.
I don't think any boy band would be able to do it as well as they do. Black Swan is really impressive. And even more so, if you look at the lyrics. The song, the choreo, the lyrics, the arrangement... It's a total package.

Even if you just watch on your own you have to check Black Swan on James Corden. One of their most simple and awe inspiring performances dance and voice because it is just them on a VERY small stage. It was the first time the song was performed live and I can still remember how they took my breath away.
My daughter and I loved watching the reality show “I-land”. It’s an elimination show. They started with, I think, 22ish trainees. Then they went through several different group challenges to get to the top 12. After that, they would eliminate them one by one and until they got to the 7 final members to make their debut. All of them are amazing dancers. You will learn each of their strengths. Some have better voices than others. But by staying in their range, they can all sing well. One of them is a professional ice-skater. You would enjoy it too.

Hi Cody! The instrument in the beginning is a traditional korean instrument called Gayageum, that's why you didn't exactly knew what that was. Is really really beautiful!
It's good to have a lot of Jimin's dance performances, but it's a music video that makes me thirsty because there's barely any handsome Jimin's face. That's why I'm looking for Jimin's fancam video, but I'm upset that there are few fancams for two years because of this Corona. The black swan song is a masterpiece that stands out with Jimin's swan-like beautiful dance and deep and deep voice.

Gday C … this song was released January 2020, but sadly has never been promoted as per their usual, because of Covid. I prefer the original where they had beautiful big black wings but of course they would have been heavy when performing. In that version the wings were bought over their heads, similar to how a Black Swan covers her head in her body. Jimin is classical trained and this song really showcased his skills even though somewhat contemporary. I luv this song and it’s many versions. Thanks for your views. 💜💜💜
I had a feeling this was meant as the lead single for Shadow album which was axed and compiled into 7. RM did say that the original plan was to have 3 albums for MOTS series.
Actually, Jimin had more training (timewise) in hip hop than contemporary or modern dance and it was / might still be his preferred dance style. Which makes it even more astonishing that years later, he is able to execute Black Swan so mesmerisingly well. Just goes to show what a dance genius he is! I'm not sure if he ever did classical ballet at the Busan art highschool (but I'm pretty sure all the pre dance warm-ups would have been classical ballet) so I don't think it's correct to say that he had classical dance training. Unless you lumped contemporary and modern under "classical" for ease of say?

Doing both was awesome! The MV’s are always good but their lives are next level 🙂 I know dance isn’t your focus but have you checked out some of the dance practices? They use dance to tell the song so a lot of times when you watch the practices you can see more of the message. Idk if that makes sense, like in Fake Love they do see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil but I never picked it up till watching the practice. Anyways this was great! You are great! My fave performance of Black Swan (and what got me into BTS) is their James Corden performance. The set was beautiful, the use of shadows amazing and the camera shots fairly simple with minimal zoomed in shots so you really get to appreciate the dancing and formations of all the members. At one point, JHope and V even had a slight mishap due to the tight dance space but Hobi carried on like the king he is.
It's very easy for even someone who's not a singer or in the music business to figure out how they do it do they practice singing while doing physical activity for one they run on treadmills while singing another secret is when they're performing and dancing live sometimes, they do three or four numbers back-to-back. then a solo performance by one member gives the other members who are the most out of breath to go backstage and they actually give them oxygen! I believe you mentioned you were at one of the nights for their permission to dance on stage concerts. That was a very tough concert for them Cause all the songs were the entire group. no solos. RM stated they wanted fans to focus on all seven members, so they had no solos in the concerts this was because they hadn't been able to do a concert in almost two years because of the pandemic they were going to go on a reduce smaller world tour but with their resurgence of the new variant they had to cancel and ended up performing the four shows in Los Angeles with fans coming from all over there were over 60 countries represented in the fans at the concert. They were originally going to do two concerts in November two concerts in December and two concerts in January in Los Angeles. This is most likely because after the November concerts they were probably going to do concerts in Mexico and South America come back and do the concert in December then go on some TV shows maybe concerts in Canada then the final two concerts in January in Los Angeles. If you watch their permission to dance music video the signpost had countries and cities that they were going to be in concert in.

There is a traditional Korean string instrument called a gayageum that sounds like the instrument in the beginning... I'm not 100% sure that's what they used, but they have used traditional Korean instruments before.

Even if you just watch on your own you have to check Black Swan on James Corden. One of their most simple and awe inspiring performances dance and voice because it is just them on a VERY small stage. It was the first time the song was performed live and I can still remember how they took my breath away.
My daughter and I loved watching the reality show “I-land”. It’s an elimination show. They started with, I think, 22ish trainees. Then they went through several different group challenges to get to the top 12. After that, they would eliminate them one by one and until they got to the 7 final members to make their debut. All of them are amazing dancers. You will learn each of their strengths. Some have better voices than others. But by staying in their range, they can all sing well. One of them is a professional ice-skater. You would enjoy it too.

It's good to have a lot of Jimin's dance performances, but it's a music video that makes me thirsty because there's barely any handsome Jimin's face. That's why I'm looking for Jimin's fancam video, but I'm upset that there are few fancams for two years because of this Corona. The black swan song is a masterpiece that stands out with Jimin's swan-like beautiful dance and deep and deep voice.

I so agree that sadly Jimin's face was never shown a closeup of all throughout, as well as even his dancing was shown in shadows so some might even have assumed it was another member since others were shown in the light right before.

Being that it's filmed front & center, so close to the outer stage where BTS were performing, Black Swan, the whole performance even looks that much more breathtakingly spectacular. Plus, it shows full stage with all members, not just JIMIN. I so recommend for this to be seen, as well as reacted to. Most other Fancams are sadly filmed from either one side of the stage or the other, or at a much greater distance.

Gday C … this song was released January 2020, but sadly has never been promoted as per their usual, because of Covid. I prefer the original where they had beautiful big black wings but of course they would have been heavy when performing. In that version the wings were bought over their heads, similar to how a Black Swan covers her head in her body. Jimin is classical trained and this song really showcased his skills even though somewhat contemporary. I luv this song and it’s many versions. Thanks for your views. 💜💜💜
I had a feeling this was meant as the lead single for Shadow album which was axed and compiled into 7. RM did say that the original plan was to have 3 albums for MOTS series.
Actually, Jimin had more training (timewise) in hip hop than contemporary or modern dance and it was / might still be his preferred dance style. Which makes it even more astonishing that years later, he is able to execute Black Swan so mesmerisingly well. Just goes to show what a dance genius he is!
I'm not sure if he ever did classical ballet at the Busan art highschool (but I'm pretty sure all the pre dance warm-ups would have been classical ballet) so I don't think it's correct to say that he had classical dance training. Unless you lumped contemporary and modern under "classical" for ease of say?

Doing both was awesome! The MV’s are always good but their lives are next level 🙂 I know dance isn’t your focus but have you checked out some of the dance practices? They use dance to tell the song so a lot of times when you watch the practices you can see more of the message. Idk if that makes sense, like in Fake Love they do see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil but I never picked it up till watching the practice. Anyways this was great! You are great! My fave performance of Black Swan (and what got me into BTS) is their James Corden performance. The set was beautiful, the use of shadows amazing and the camera shots fairly simple with minimal zoomed in shots so you really get to appreciate the dancing and formations of all the members. At one point, JHope and V even had a slight mishap due to the tight dance space but Hobi carried on like the king he is.
It's very easy for even someone who's not a singer or in the music business to figure out how they do it do they practice singing while doing physical activity for one they run on treadmills while singing another secret is when they're performing and dancing live sometimes, they do three or four numbers back-to-back. then a solo performance by one member gives the other members who are the most out of breath to go backstage and they actually give them oxygen! I believe you mentioned you were at one of the nights for their permission to dance on stage concerts. That was a very tough concert for them Cause all the songs were the entire group. no solos. RM stated they wanted fans to focus on all seven members, so they had no solos in the concerts this was because they hadn't been able to do a concert in almost two years because of the pandemic they were going to go on a reduce smaller world tour but with their resurgence of the new variant they had to cancel and ended up performing the four shows in Los Angeles with fans coming from all over there were over 60 countries represented in the fans at the concert. They were originally going to do two concerts in November two concerts in December and two concerts in January in Los Angeles. This is most likely because after the November concerts they were probably going to do concerts in Mexico and South America come back and do the concert in December then go on some TV shows maybe concerts in Canada then the final two concerts in January in Los Angeles. If you watch their permission to dance music video the signpost had countries and cities that they were going to be in concert in.

There is a traditional Korean string instrument called a gayageum that sounds like the instrument in the beginning... I'm not 100% sure that's what they used, but they have used traditional Korean instruments before.
