    Thank you so much Canna. I requested this video - although others surely have as well.
    The advise you have given is amazingly direct, doable and motivating. I need goals.... I'm going to make a few big goals, then break them down. I also need to say yes to more. Let more opportunities into my life.
    Your friends quote is spot on. And something I've never thought of. Hehe my first goal is to prove that quote right! Thanks again! 🌹

    Another fab video! Thanks, Canna. This is similiar to what I did a few years ago now when I became a solo Mumma & really had nothing as well. But these tips really would have supercharged my savings! Just a little word to all the Sugarpops out there, you CAN do it. Don't get discouraged, just get started. From little things, big things grow, as the song goes. It took me a while but once that momentum got going I was really proud I'd achieved my goals on my own. I think I shocked my family when they found out how much I'd saved! Thanks again, Canna. Time to run through these tips for my next $1000 challenge. xx

      Constance Goldwing does the australian government or churches provided any help? and also how did you rebuild your life?

    • @constancegoldwing5867
      @constancegoldwing5867 6 років тому +46

      At first, I was denied help from the government. Talk about a flawed system. Reason being my father earned over a certain threshold and despite living across the country in another state, I apparently (being adult women with no job) could survive on my own. I had to find a way to prove I did not live with my father, on paper. Because my roommates and I had been evicted due to them skipping town and myself not being able to come up with the rent, I was thrown out and on the street. I was robbed the first night, lost everything except my phone which I couldn't afford credit on and some clothing. Didn't think to go to a church at the time actually. I went to welfare, who put me in contact with a caseworker. He said I "Didn't fit into the needy threshold" because I wasn't a teenager (I was 20). AND I didn't have a baby or wasn't pregnant so I was deemed "capable" and didn't qualify for housing commission. Single people are of less value than couples in this sector. My main issue was hiding at night where I wouldn't be raped. When I look back now I think how disgusting it was just talking to customer service agents basically who didn't want to deal with me. I showered in public toilets, took some acceptable looking clothes from the red cross bin, even stole as I was in survival mode. I ended up presentable enough to get a job waiting tables to which I earned cash in hand, my boss was a bit dodgy, but he let me sleep out the back of the shop with the dog if I did a few extra chores like housekeeping the upstairs rooms etc, not just the shop downstairs. I used our cafe's internet to scroll through Domain, Gumtree etc daily, however, everything was too expensive. Eventually, after developing a good rapport with one of my customers, I casually told him about my situation and tried my luck to see if he knew anybody that needed a room. He said he had a room, and charged me $150 for a two bedroom apartment that he lived in. That was a huge deal, him going out of his way like that. I never owned a car, just saved up, didn't buy or wear makeup or eat out. Walked everywhere. Sure, I definitely looked poor and slightly malnourished but when you are in survival mode you DO NOT CARE. After a year, I got a better job, met some people of my own to live with from work and was able to rebuild from there. It took a lot of time but it is either that or die.

      Constance Goldwing Woah... Im impressed by you. I thought this kind of stuff would just happened 20 or 30 years ago but sadly It still happens today. Im happy that you are doing well now and you just put me in shame. I considered myself as living in a poor condition but you just made me realize what being poor really is like. Thank you.

      Wow Constane, you are one amazing woman & an inspiration, your story brought me to tears. I'm so pleased you had the strength & resolve to make something of yourself & escape the streets. You put poverty into a true perspective. I'm disgusted that the systems fail people like this.

    Hello Sugar mamma, nice clip,very motivational..Some years ago i heard or read that if you fail to plan then you plan to fail, this quote has been very inspirational to me and another quote is that necessity is the mother of invention,so basically in a nut shell i think this is what you are saying within this clip but with the female touch....Love it and keep up the great work.

    I really LOVE your video. I was planning on investing in some cheap land with a mobile home and using it for Airbnb purposes. I mean it's not much but I know it will help me later on in future. But then I look at my bank account of $2 because I quit a toxic job 2 months ago and have been living off my savings. I am a full-time college student so many things seem so unreachable and far away from my grasp. Someone once told me that being poor is a mental idea, but being broke is physical. Thanks for your video, I really needed it today!! Send you lots of love from LA!

    Hi Canna, love your videos! When do you plan to start teaching your son about finance? I have a bright little 6 year old, and I'm considering starting her on a kid's version of the $1000 project. I'd love to teach her to earn, say, $10-$20 a month to start investing now, and hopefully she can continue that habit as she gets older. I love the idea of teaching her to earn and invest early, with her own hard earned money, so she'll have security in the future without me as a parent just giving it to her. I'd love to see a video with some ideas on how to approach this!
