- The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion might be the single most important source historians use for understanding the Civil War. But as historian Yael Sternhell explains in her new book, War on Record, the O.R. has a life and a story of its own--and might not always be the objective history people assume.
This episode of the Emerging Civil War Podcast is brought to you by Civil War Trails, the world’s largest open-air museum, offering more than 1,500 sites across six states. Request a brochure at civilwartrails.org to start planning your trip today.
This is a fantastic interview! It should be viewed by every historian. I really love Sternhell's passion! She's made me interested in the archives for the first time! Thank you for bringing us this interview Chris. I hope it gets a million views!
Awesome
Thanks be safe
I just bought this book. Sternhell demonstrates the international appeal of CW history, and also proves there are great untold stories out there. Makes me want to go to the National Archives to see what records were left out of the OR. What treasure may be there!
I saw the volumes that are on the thumb nail there fascinating reads
Great information! Great interview! What is the best / easiest to navigate online source for the OR? Stay safe, Yael. I know a lot of people HERE (in America) for whom the war THERE is a concern. Be safe, and thanks again.
God Bless Israel and thank you Yael.
