Playing this on the PS5 and the Switch since it's now free to play. It feels like a pay to win type of game but practice, patience, and skill seems to go a long way as well. I already have all four characters unlocked for Aladdin.
Also, remember that if you just want to play with friends, you can play with any racer at full power on any stage without any grinding after unlocking the private track option.
I hope the seasonal tour gives the upgrade materials for the Aladdin characters. I desperately need some because they're surprisingly hard to come by rn

Unfortunately because they are mid season racers there is no way to unlock them currently. Sometimes they will have offers in the shop or will be available through limited events but you just have to wait until that happens

Yes, they get converted to blue tokens but at a very bad rate.
Is there a reason you have so many tokens? Did you pay hundreds of dollars for the credits?
