This is one of my favorite games, hands down! I had a bunch of friends who were graffiti artists and they used to play this all the time at my apartment. It was a bit of a hood classic for us and I still own it (and play it occasionally) on Steam. Really wish we got a sequel. The narrative was surprisingly gripping, too.
I love Getting Up so much bro, this game got me into underground hip hop, parkour and graffiti, it's a huge inspiration for me and my art! I wish this game gets a remake or a sequel some day even though they've been trying for years, there's not many games with this thrilling vibe about graffiti life of the early 2000's
Never heard of this game. That's what I love about your channel : Discovering underated, underpreciated or forgotten games ;) Speaking of Splinter cell I would like to suggest you these two stealth games which have a similar gameplay to the first splinter cell game : - Cold war (2005) - Thief deadly shadows (which is actually the third installment in the thief franchise) There are also these other two stealth games who were forgotten : - Rogue ops - Stolen (2005)
I've played this back in the day, the video reminded me that I need to get a copy of this one. I think I also put it on my ps2 hdd not too long ago, but I know I didn't play it there. It'll probably be the xbox copy that I pick up since it's multiplat, same for Black.
Check out Phantom Dust. Really unique game directed by Yukio Futatsugi, of Panzer Dragoon/II Zwei/Saga fame (but not fellow Xbox exclusive Orta (also well worth examining)). Unique card combat gameplay in a post-apocalyptic future. Was supposed to receive a sequel, and then a remake, but ultimately just a remaster on Xbox One and Windows in 2017.
This is probably the first time I've seen footage of Getting Up , and it looks genuinely fun. The Collective had a knack for creating fun games in the sixth, seventh and eighth generations, and Getting Up seems no different. It's literally Splinter Cell meets the OG Like A Dragon: Yakuza games but you're an anti-authoritarian graffiti activist who battles governments and graffiti gangs! And it doesn't look cringe-inducing at all! The Collective, later rebranded as Double Helix after merging with Shiny Entertainment, have done some really good stuff. Growing up I played a lot of their rendition of Revenge of the Sith, which added in new characters, expanded on Anakin/Vader's sacking of the Jedi Council by stretching it to a sizeable chunk of the latter half and even included an optional alternative finale where you can kill Obi-Wan. Sith and Getting Up are probably their most famous games, but as Double Helix, they became infamous for making the weakest main Silent Hill game, Homecoming, and even then despite its faults it's still a solid survival horror game and good attempt with fun combat, good writing, and some truly creepy monster designs and scares that I feel can catch first-time players off guard. Not to mention it having the honour of being the last main entry to be composed by Akira Yamaoka himself (I consider Origins and Shattered Memories spin-offs). It's a testament to their skill when even their weaker games are still good. The Collective really were an underrated studio.
Thank you for all of the information! Totally agree The Collective did amazing work back in the day and is crazy underrated. I do need to try Homecoming one of these days though.
I got a special collector's edition art book while working at GameSpot. Finally played the game years later and really liked it. Until the train level...
@@campxbox looking forward to it! I know there are 2 games in the series and really looking to pick one of em up. Not many good UA-cam vids on the titles honestly though
I like the Games of The Collective! For me they are very underrated!! But i think this one is nothing much intresting for me because i'm not into hip hop etc. I'm more the Rock guy ;)

I know Mark Ecko is really trying to get some kind of sequel or movie made, but who knows if we will actually get it. Thanks for sharing the memories!

Incredible game.
Love this game first played it on PC, marvelous game, great story and cast. Sucks it's not much to do after beating the game really...

I buy OG Xbox games and I didn't even know about this game, until now.
This game is soooooooo good and the soundtracks is even better
The soundtrack is insanely good. This was one of my biggest surprises on the channel.
I rented this game at Blockbuster around the time it came out. I should've bought it with my allowance lol
Is this backwards compatible with Xbox series X?
Unfortunately not.
@@campxbox Darn!! i seen this used on eBay for $6 usd and was going to get this now knowing it's not backward compatible ill have to pass. Thx.
