Delighted to listen to this magnificent treat, penned by Aarzoo Lucknowi Saab, in the soulful voice of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab, all over again, ofcourse in a new orientation, altogether ! That's what the connoisseurs of music use to call brilliant and matchless singing style ! What's so special with the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the fact that he had an uncanny ability to render the tragic and romantic nuances of the Urdu couplets with equal proficiency and consummate ease ! Perhaps, that might have been the reason - as to how he could unleash such path - breaking masterpieces at regular intervals ! Here, in this ghazal, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had infused life into the beautiful lafz of the shayar with the exact feel, as depicted in the kalam, owing to his magical voice and inimitable style of gayiki ! Hi Dr. Rajdeep Singh sb. After reading your comments I feel more proud as I have had chances to listen Mehdi Hassan Khan Saab live three or four times. I'am from Lyalpur (home town of Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan), where every year, used to be birth anniversary of their father. I've listened Mehdi Saab live for three years. Such a wonderful experience it was, I can't explain.

I listen to this masterpiece at least twice per day and enjoy it more and more. What a powerful singing and accompanied tabla player. Sounds like Ustad Tari sahib. I truly miss ustad mehdi hassan. No one will ever replace him. Rest in peace as we will enjoy the beautiful ghazals you left us with and learn from it.
A lot of people tried to be like Mehdi Hassan khan sahib but yet none has reached to his level and i m sure no one can be.. Mehdi sb was a special edition which comes in this world after centuries. We are lucky that we are enjoying his melodious voice and singing. .. May Allah bless him high place in jannatul firdous. He was extra ordinary ghazal gaik..
Oh my God !!! ... Syed Wajid tons of thanks for sharing this one with us. I have seen Khan sahib performing this ghazal in UK. But the video is not complete. Then he performed it elsewhere but the BLEEDING sarangi nawaz destroyed the entire ghazal by just keep playing his NONSENSE sarangi throughout. I just wished so much to pull that idiot out of that ghazal but ofcourse could not do that. I so wished if Khan sahib had not taken those idiot sarangi nawaz in his some of performances. Just now I found this performance. You have no idea how happy I am to find this performance with such clarity. Khan sahib at his usual best and ... there is no bloody sarangi nawaz this time. May God rest his soul in peace for ever. Amin !!!
this ghazal is written in urdu and hindi,... languages borrow many words from other languages if one aware of the evolution pattern of any language. I am hurt of your art of conversation.
