That was what the great Khan Saab may have done done with the Raag 'Sahera' ! During his illustrious career running into several decades, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab had mastered all 38 odd ragas through their deft handling by applying his midas touch and appropriate appreciation in the right ghazals Perhaps, the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the the finest improvisation artist in the World of Ghazal Gayiki ! only mehdi hassan saab can sing like this... a raag with lots of chromatic notes...can not even imagine to sing like this.. there is nobody in the world who can sing like this with this much of expressions...legend and ultimate singing in ghazal
This is something special . Only kahnsab can sing it in its true form. Only other person I have heard sing this gazal is Rajkumar Rizvi Kahnsab. Pity that some artist who say they learnt from Mehdi Hassan Khansab do not do justice to him as they are not any where near him . People like Talat Aziz and Pankaj Udas should not say that they learnt from the one and only Mehdi Hassan Kahansab

I had the privilege of listening to Ustad Sultan Khan Saheb playing this Raga at Akashvani, where I worked and recorded it for AIR back in the 90s. Thank you for posting this rare and precious recording of Mehdi Hassan Khan Saheb, the one and the only Ghazal Artist who could do justice to it. Same words for Ustad Sultan Khan Saheb and Shaukat Hussein Khan Saheb too, all are geniuses in this video / audio. Precious.
Can you please tell in which thaath this raaga belongs. I have heard that this raag does not belong to any Thaath, but I have not get any authentic information about that.
