When I was in 7th grade, my shop teacher Mr Kangas had one of these. Maroon, white interior, 390 ,4 speed & those rally wheels. When the first snow came, my friend & I watched him come into the parking lot, tripped the accelerator & did a 180, then let it roll backwards into a parking spot at the rear of the lot.WOW! For my money the 66 and 67 Fairlane GT and GTA were the most beautiful cars produced in the 60's. The only thing this beast is lacking is the super rare 427/425 hp engine that was an option.
That is just simply Gorgeous! I have one, black on black, auto with console, with about 87k miles at the end of its life. I lived in Cleveland and the last six months of its life, I had card board shoved into the back seat to keep the rain, mud, snow and ice from slinging all over me w hill I drove it. 78 was a very hard winter with giant pot holes everywhere. I was leaving work, hit a big hole and jerked the rear end out of the spring hangers. LoL… Those we’re fun days up north. It’s a good memory that I had forgotten about. Cheers!

Not been much of a Ford guy but if I had to pick, this model GT Fairlane would be it for me and even though its blue its black enough, super cool car, would love to own it
It makes me sick to admit I owned a 67 mercury cyclone 390 gt,1 owner my uncle Terry, it was purchased new prior to Terry going to Viet Nam, This car was the scariest ride I had the pleasure of knowing growing up.
Wow!!! This is super rare. A 390, 4-valve engine? Nope! The 4V means 4 venturi or more commonly known as a 4-barrel carburetor. You guys might want to stick to coffee.
I owned one of the 78 dash mounted 6000 rpm tachometer cars!!! Springtime yellow, black vinyl top, black bucket seat interior, 3.25 9 inch rear GTA. The car had NO aftermarket parts factory cast iron manifolds, resonators and crossflow muffler and ran 14.97 @98.51 mph at WarnerRobins dragstrip. The car NEVER lost a race to a 396/325 hp Chevelle.
That was my first car. Mine had a black vinyl top over Wimbledon white with the 2Bbl 390 and C6 auto with a 3.00:1 rear axle. Miss that car to this day.
I love how everyone anymore touts there car as a 'true" one of one car.About every car is one of one if you break down every conceivable option .What constitutes rarity is the model and drivetrain.
Wow 1of1 so sweet i used to have 1 of the 18000 in 1988 white 2dr blue interior automatic 289 and i remember a light blueish tint at the top of windshield i really wish i had kept that car
I had one one just like it , but mine had a factory 8 track and white interior , and the paint was metallic green . I have never found one like mine ever . Unfortunately when the military came up ……..my dad sold it . Not happy.
WRONG. All '66-'67 Ford Fairlane GT cars were 2 door hardtops, all had 4 speed manual transmissions, and all had 390 engines. Three were 427 GT cars but those were done by TASCAR Ford in RI. I bought one of the three new in 1967 and I still have it. Nightmist blue paint was NOT metalflake either. It was Dark blue metallic. All '66-'67 GT cars had bucket seats and center console. Style Steel wheels for '66-'67 GT cars were not rare either. I not only own two '66-'67 Ford Fairlane GT cars, but that are also 100% restored correctly, I've owned a successful classic/vintage vehicles business for almost 36 years, I/we have restored several Ford Fairlane GT/GTA cars over the years. This fool is full of crap.
@@mrdiplomat9018 I lived in CT for many years but later moved further north because CT business costs/insurance/taxes were ridiculously high. Although I'm still am the major owner of our restoration business, I only work part-time. One of my daughters and her husband runs it now. Currently, there's about a one year wait backlog. Convertibles are also more costly to restore than sedans/hardtops. If your '66 GTA has no rust, a full restoration would be $30+k to make it like new again. We only do concours level quality restorations. I have two Ford '66 GT Fairlanes and one Ford '67 GT XL Fairlane. One '66 is a 390 car. The other '66 has a '69 460 in it. The '67 is a 427 car that I bought new at TASCA Ford in RI.
My sister's boy friend had a 1967 Fairlane GT that looked a lot like this one. I don't think It had the console but I'm not sure, it's been too many years. It was a 390 GT 4 speed with dark blue metallic paint and the same wheels. There were three Failane GT's in my home town at the time, a red '66 390 4speed, a red '67 390 4 speed and the blue one. All three were very fast.
true, and to say only 7 came with the floor shifter center console is horse feathers, most of the 3 and 4 speed manuals had the floor console, how do I know? Iv,e owned 3 of them!
Beautiful car, but it should have a "Detroit Locker" and the 390 is a "2 valve" design.Aside from a 427 car, that would be the '67 Fairlane I would choose. Absolutely stunning....
Flooded ?? Start it with the accelerator held to the floor , should clear it out.Carburetor butterflies out of adjustment on the shaft, not closing completely, will sometimes leak fuel into the manifold under high vacuum after a hot shutoff and flood the engine.
That it still has the original wheels is the rarest thing.Limited slip is the default rear you had to order posi . If it's original it's also a top loader and you have to try to flood a390
One of one is actually pretty meaningless. Most cars that are and were ordered from the factory that had multiple options to choose from end up being one of one. You can see why from this video. Having tinted windows with a console doesn't really make this car any more special. What makes it special is that it survived and is desirable.
As a life long ford guy, I've got to say yall know nothing about this car. First off ford made 1 of nothing ever. Ford was notorious for over production of cars. And even if someone custom ordered a car, ford would build 30 more just like it and send them to different dealers in different states. And the 4-V, is for the 4 barrel venturi carburetor.
1966 GT had more horsepower, better looking taillights, grill and hood scoops. The interior was sportier and didn’t have that stupid looking padded horn ring. Otherwise they were the same.
Yea he needs to do more home work because more then 5000 had the 4 speed with the 390 and that 4v is not a 4 valve head it stands venture or 4 barrel carb and if it's flood's vary easily it's because the float in the carb is sticking probably needle valve is sticking those car are everywhere out in the country like around western NC and VA that were a hell of a moonshine car because you could take out the rear seat and you could fit 50 one gallon jugs of shine in it and all you had to do was flip the spring shackles and it would sat level
