I have been planning my veggie garden for my new house and buying seeds all day, perfect timing! Love the garden content. I actually find the fact that you’re in the Southern Hemisphere now really useful so that I can get inspiration for the months ahead! Plus it is wonderful to see your lush growing season while it is cold and wintery here. 😊

The pony may need to be sedated, or twitched, but that might be a bit unpleasant.

I empathise with you so much, with Penny 🥹 About 13 years ago, we bought an alpaca herd; four neutered males. Two came from a place where they were roughly handled. It was very difficult to go near them when they arrived. They were the first paddock animals I had ever owned, so I was a real beginner. After reading a book about handling/training alpacas, I still had a hard time handling them. Then I added clicker training and wow, things changed for the better in a big way. It gave my alpacas and me a language we could both understand. Eventually I could halter each of them and take them for walks with me one at a time, which is a huge ask for an alpaca; to walk away from his herd. It really promoted trust and enabled me to deal with shearing time, which I imagine is similar to your hoof trimming time with ponies. I looked up pony clicker training youtubers and found a few that look really good, in case you might want to try this approach with Penny. Some use proper plastic/metal clickers that you can buy at a pet shop for dog training, and some simply click their tongue in their mouths as the clicker. My adult daughter has pet rats and believe it or not, I've even trained them with a clicker 😃 Here are a few youtube links that might get you started, if you decide to try this with Penny ❤️ The only catch is that you need to find a food source she really loves. If she's anorexic, it won't work😂 Good luck, Marcie

Pony is probably in pain by the way she looks when she moved… pain relief and sedation? Willow is a natural pain relief…. 🫶
