Emma has homophones for spelling this week and just before I watched this we were laughing about dinner - that disgusted "ew" and excited "ooh!!" would be the same without the inflection. I'm going through 1 John in a women's study and was very struck by 3:4-9 the idea that in Christ we don't keep on sinning because Jesus came to take away sin. He came to destroy the works of the devil. It hit me anew that Jesus does cover us with his righteousness, but his purpose and victory goes farther - to free us from continuing in sin. It's kind of like finding your balance on the playground thing that can tip over in any direction to comprehend what John is saying about sin in these passages, but it's clear that he agrees with Paul, "Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means!"
