Nice ranking! Just a quick top 8: 1. 2112 2. A Farewell To Kings 3. Clockwork Angels 4. Counterparts 5. Hemispheres 6. Moving Pictures 7. Permanent Waves 8. Fly By Night
my Ranking: Even the ones ranked lowest, I like and respect the songwriting, but I don't like how much the synths took over. The spacing between numbers is sort of a separation in amount of liking. but within each subsection there can definitely be some movement based on my mood. 19. Hold Your Fire 18. Power Windows 17. Presto (I really like Force Ten, and Show Don't Tell) 16. Snakes & Arrows Love Spindrift 15. Test 4 Echo (has really grown in recent years) 14. Vapor Trails 13. Counterparts 12. Roll The Bones 11. Caress Of Steel 10. Rush 9. Clockwork Angels 8. Grace Under Pressure 7. Fly By night 6. Signals 5. 2112 4. A Farewell To Kings 3. Hemispheres 2. Permanent Waves 1. Moving Pictures

For me Moving Pictures is #1, then anything from 1974-1984 depends on my mood. I don't have anything past that so I guess I'm a fan but not a super fan. I play those years often though.
Nice list. Would tend to agree with the albums in it but the order would change with the wind that day. Now I know you went with the studio albums, but for me if I am reaching for a Rush record its always been the double live album All The Worlds A Stage, probably because it captures the bulk of yours and everyone else's top 10's and all my favorite, mostly, Rush songs. I do like a lot the Take Off track Geddy sang on with Bob & Doug McKenzie, but who doesn't?
I enjoyed your rush ranking video. I rank the top albums similar to you do but there’s a couple of big differences for me. I love snakes and arrows I would rank at number eight although it does have for a weak tracks and it would be a better album if they just were left off. I also am not as big a fan of Caress Of Steel as you are. My least favorite Rush album is Hold Your Fire. Except for force 10 time stand still in the mission I think it’s a weak album. I just remember thinking WTF is this Tai Shan song. My favorite Rush album is moving pictures since every song on it is great. Signals is a close second. That was the first tour I ever saw a Rush and I saw them every tour except the last one after that.
I’m with almost everything but moving pictures at #1. For me it’s Hemisphere at number 1 & Caress of Steel at #19. I really have not ranked these albums myself but I know moving pictures may be in my top X for sure. Okay I’ll say this: the reason why Hemisphere is number 1 for me is that I am a Genesis fan and to me this album sounds a bit like them. Maybe I’ll rank the remaining albums.
There is no ‘wrong’ ranking of Rush, or a definitive ranking. They’re a band with such a large and diverse studio discography. There are clear defined eras, and people will have different preferences. I will leave this comment but I need to think about my own ranking and even do some relistening 🤣 I may return.
It's hard to compare their albums from different eras. It's much easier going by 70s, 80s, 90s and 21st century. But here goes: 1. A Farewell to Kings 2. Hemispheres 3. Permanent Waves 4. Moving Pictures 5. 2112 6. Grace Under Pressure 7. Signals 8. Counterparts 9. Caress of Steel 10. Power Windows 11. Fly by Night 12. Vapor Trails 13. Rush 14. Snakes & Arrows 15. Clockwork Angels 16. Roll the Bones 17. Test for Echo 18. Presto 19. Hold Your Fire
The only Rush album I’m real familiar with is Moving Pictures. It had two excellent songs in Tom Sawyer and Limelight. It didn’t make it into my top 100 albums list but it was one I was considering.

Good to know they believed that as well.

I'm a similar way, 1974-1984 is probably the golden period. 🙂
That miniscule bit of rapping doesn't affect my overall impression of that album at all.

Very cool list, obviously much different than mine, but that doesn't matter.
That's right! You're list was pretty good as well. 😄🤘

Definitely relisten to Moving Pictures and check out Permanent Waves and 2112!
in my opinion i don't like Clockwork Angels 2012 Album the only one i do not like
Snakes and arrows is way to low in my opinion
Dude the 1st album blows. Simple blues rock.
Ok
