      Margaret, it's cold here but thank God, there's no snow in our place. The reason why I prefer living here. Take care and keep yourself warm. I put on layered clothes and when I do yard work, it makes me warm. Thank you always for watching. You're so kind.

    Hello Grace, I have no doubt that all the hard work you are putting into your planting beds will pay off, and your yard will be outstanding next year. I can't wait to see it! By the way, you mentioned that you would like to send "oseibo" to your viewers. You're already doing that Grace. The way you share your life with us (ups and downs) is a very special gift. Wishing all the best to you and your husband!

    Hello Grace. It’s good to hear you’re doing well and your husband is getting better. The better he gets, the less you’ll be worried. As you said, “retirement shouldn’t be stressful.”. Retirement is when you should reap the rewards for years of hard work. We just need to stay healthy to enjoy the retirement. We’ll be looking forward to see what you’ll plant in spring. Judging by the rest of your plants, I have no doubt they will flourish. Take care and please be careful of your back when you carry those bags of potting mix.

    Hello Grace. You are planting as usual. Stay healthy always. It is so cold now. I use stove heater using kerosene as my fuel. Electricity is so expensive. Last february when i was hospitalized my son used electric heater and our electric bill was 27000 yen. Regards to both of you.

      Hello, Ate Rose. We are, too! The bill that I paid yesterday was 26,000+ and it doubled compare to the last billing. I was shocked! We have aircon but it's installed at engawa so we can't use it to heat the main room. We had to buy 2 units of gas heater and it's better than electric oil heater. Thank you, Ate. I miss you! And it's my fault a week of not uploading a video!!

    Hi Grace,
    Season's Greetings.
    I hope your husband and you will go out and enjoy some festive cheer 🎄
    As for your frequent electric failures, old houses tend to have loose or worn out connectors.
    Also, the old electricity output may need to be upgraded.
    Have someone look into it.
    Take care.

      I have a family (son in-law who works for the fire department) checked and advised me what to do and a licensed electrician came over to check the breaker. We're now using gas heaters and giving away these brand new electric oil heaters. Thank you so much for the greetings and advice.

    Hello Grace 🙂
    I saw a special show on NHK and they had people using gas or kerosene tanks for heat. It was in Hokkaido I think and they said it worked better than electricity. Maybe you could sell the electric heater you bought and can’t use? When we built a small attachment to our home we did what is called an electrical upgrade so that there would be enough power to the home-the electrician also did an overall check on our wiring because the existing home is about 60 years old. We are always trying to do work to maintain the home…kind of like people aging too 😂. I am not so much about appearance as much as the sturdiness of the home. Even my dishes don’t match hahaha…I love finding pieces that I just connect with. When I’m stressed I do active things to clear that energy and you doing all your dirt/gravel digging must’ve helped you too? I love your garden and even the greenery in the house is healing. Even your double layer of clothes …you look great! I love the cooler months here and pray you stay warm and feel all the love coming to you! Sending you love and healing always! So glad I saw your vlog ❤

      Hello Ate Francine! (I lost comment if I "heart" first. So it took me time to reply..I lost your comment.. my apologies, my Ate Francine... Onechan. Please ask your Mom what onechan means). We have been using heaters using kerosene but since I have to refill the tanks, my husband thinks that electric heater is good for us since he will be left alone at home and he thinks its dangerous because he can't see much if there's something in front of the kerosene heater like clothes or towel that will cause fire. My daughter who lives in colder region will use the oil heater but they have to pick it up from here. I can imagine how nice your place is.

    • @francinecardoza6727
      @francinecardoza6727 21 день тому

      @ oh I know onechan 🙂 It’s so difficult with heat or cold 😵‍💫 In the US it’s a problem in bad storms when we lose electricity too. Your husband is right and I’m happy he is sharp to think about that too. When I saw your coffee plant it made me remember when I was little -my grandfather came from Kumamoto to Hawaii to work as a coffee farmer (he was samurai class and a scholar) he didn’t survive the harsh life here but my father planted a coffee tree in our yard and he told me the process of growing, harvesting and roasting coffee. I instantly recognized the plant and it was so nostalgic and heart warming. Your garden is like that …a sanctuary of hearts. ❤️

      @@francinecardoza6727 , Onechan, your story about your Kumamoto Ojiichan is very interesting. A samurai and a scholar. I can imagine how resilient, hadworking, disciplined and stoic he was- a typical Japanese man. ( We are having tea with my husband now and asked him if he heard or read about the history of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. I love history so I find your story very interesting.)

    Hi Grace thanks for the video your garden looks great and hopefully you will have a good harvest next year. I live in the North East of England and my garden is one soggy wet lump due to the weather at this time of year. Hope you get your electricity issues sorted out. I don't know what or if you do at Christmas but happy Christmas from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.

    I hope Japanese are more open up as in have close relationships with family members or friends.
    Here in Singapore, the Government always encourage the seniors to go out and socialise and we had in every estates a Community centres which organised some activities for people around the area to get together be it dancing exercise, cooking classes , flower arrangements, singing classes
    When retired I hope to be more active in participating

    • @livingwithgraceinjapan
      @livingwithgraceinjapan  21 день тому

      I was once watched a video in Singapore park where residents freely do excercise, so with other country in Asia, Ho Chi Minh, were doing the same. In Japan, you can't be very friendly otherwise, you'll look weird. So I learned not to open up much and that is not good for my mental health.

    Hi ma'am Grace, happy Tuesday to you.❤
    Naku ma'am eh patingin nyo po sa master electrician yung electricity kung bakit mag trip off cya. Baka kasi may deprensya yung Linya o baka overload. Delikado po yan ma'am.
