Glen IS the Bass Player in The SexPistols! He wrote Pretty Vacant , and may have been the first member! He worked at Malc Mclaren's shop, but had an electic musical taste ,and has been criticised for this throughout! Now Everyone has an electic musical taste, I have been a fan of the band since 1977, and always liked Glen! I liked his later project 'Rich Kids', and everyone in the industry respects him. Good looking fella, always polite and honest ,and was part of everything relevant that The Sex Pistols ever did! God Bless him he is a legend! dx

He wrote 'Submission' with Rotten. McLaren gave them the title, and wanted them to make it about submissive sex, but they thought it was too corny. That's why they made it about a 'sub(marine) mission' to take the piss.

Main songwriter , best musician by a long stretch . He didn´t have the ´go get f**#ed ` attitude of the others which created a huge ego clash with , specially , Lydon . Reckon they´re still not the best of mates .

Steve Jones came up with most of the riffs for the songs and had an overall big influence musically in the Sex Pistols. Matlock was a good musician, but he was a square peg in a round hole and needed to leave for the band to continue. He was the Pete Best of the Sex Pistols.

    • @halloweenjack4482

@@delhidelirium9091 Matlock was the only one who was actually musical before the Sex Pistols and it was Malcolm McLaren that decided that Steve Jones should play guitar. Matlock tried teaching Steve Jones chords but Jones was only interested in barre chords. The other Pistols didn't like Matlock because he was 'nice' and wanted to be 'fun like The Beatles' and he was kicked out just for that reason. I know that he detests the line "I am an antichrist" which Lydon wrote. Him and Lydon have always had a strained relationship but then Lydon is like that. Even Jones said recently that he is not comfortable around Lydon. Interestingly enough the whole reason that McLaren put the Sex Pistols together was because Jones was compulsive thief and he wanted to get him off the streets. Lydon was the last member to be recruited.

kev catnip> But look at the huge amount of solid material the Stones put out after Brain Jones died. If he had stayed alive and remained with the band, he may very well have dragged the band down and kept them from the fame they later achieved. Likewise, the Sex Pistols would never have achieved the fame and popularity they did with the tension Matlock caused. He had to go.

@emmanuel de la cruz I´m not sure . What I read and heard is that Lydon in particular hated Glen for being too " mainstream " in his tastes and way he conducted himself . He didn´t have the chaotic and defying attitude the others had .
Even PIL , look at Wobble and Levene , there´s a Chav beneath all that creativity . Glen was too " middle class " for Lydon basically " .
It´s very possible Malcom also thought that a more " Punk/Chav " character would enrich the band . And were they right or what ? Sid completely obscured Glen which is unfair af since Glen was pretty much the pumping heart of teh Pistols .

The title is highly misleading. The 30 seconds on his relationship with his past band mates doesn’t really justify naming the 17 minute video.

That's an excellent point - and that Paul was under Steve's wing as much as anything else.
The more one thinks about it, ....they had zero Direction of any kind, ...and that if only Glenn had've actually, l dunno, been more accepted and uad stayed in the Band...
I guess part of the mystiquè of the Pistols is that they only made that one record...
Stooges' best two tracks "Open Up and Bleed" and "Sick of You" never appeared on any of their Releases...lol, these kinds of things make Punk what it is, l suppose.
