To make it simple, it gives you more resource to upgrade that student. In this case, getting Dress Hina dupe gives you 100 elephs(=500 eligma) and 50 eligma which is the total value of 550 eligmas. Which is more than getting off-rate 3 stars that only gives you 30 elephs(=150 eligma but cannot be used for Dress Hina) and 50 eligma which is the total value of 200 eligma.
