Your words here and in your music, give Australians and the world reasons to love your wonderful music.Along with many others who are lucky to perform with you.
Having read both your books and understood the background you are from this song is very poignant and meaningful. It could be relevant to anywhere in the world that has saw financial and social decline over time.....
Man of many words sum it up perfect.....👍
Truly an ICONIC SONG
Fantastic jimmy hit the nail in the head
When I worked at Holdens in the late 80s when Working Class Man was on the radio there would be a huge roar all the workers would be cheering
My mum,radiance
LEGEND!!!
There is no bigger frustration than having to drive an hour and a half to another town to go to work, while a disused dairy factory sits in the middle of my town.
That's true I had to move to find work
You are such a sweet heart. You have a huge heart. Xxx

AAAAHHHHHHHH!!
Well said Jimmy..the working class have been sold out!..they have shut down our way of life and we have been thrown on the scrap heap, and we are angry!
I thought he was an Aussie
Born in Scotland, but mostly raised in Australia.
I see the song expresses a failure in leadership. The result being the small man left high and dry.
disgusting. why the f do things have to be shut down. we have lost our way Australia, but its OK coz Feacebook have given our "news" back. Seriously, we used to be a country that did things. not anymore. Fi.....ng sad.
It's a shame when you made it big you buggered off and left it telling young Elizabeth people to get out of Elizabeth as soon as you can. But I'm glad you made some money out of the real working class people that put in 30 years at GMH and were then thrown on the scrap heap!
When Troy was growing up in the Clarence Valley, Peter’s Ice cream, the match factory, and eventually the brewery all closed down. The railway which was central to Grafton culled its work force, the abattoirs shut and reopened and some timber mills closed. Like Elizabeth, the Clarence Valley was rated very high as a disadvantaged place for the population. Not until watching this here on UA-cam did I know that Troy had written the song. I can see why he got it so right.
