Everyone is talking about the beautiful music, but nobody is talking about how this man looks like he could single handedly hold off the Britons with an axe.
I am hooked. It's like a hurdy-gurdy but without the mechanical noise, but with a much less cheerful sound. It really gives me a dreadful feeling like you're on a boat, looking at the land from a distance in medieval times, knowing you're about to set foot there for a blood bath. Many lives will be lost. Kind of a reluctant "this is what we signed up for. It must be done" kind of feeling. Very, very cool instrument, and very very well played.
absolutely insane that you'd describe it like that... I use this song on repeat when I'm doing knee rehab, acl reconstruction and lateral/medial meniscus sutures done in one operation... a rehab that has consumed everything. I started from no weight bearing, 16 months ago, to my regular runs that are between 6-12 miles now. I have 2 sony speakers connected in stereo on either side bottle pocket on my running bag, so it plays in surround sound and encapsulates me as I teleport through this world on a leg held together by screws. An elective surgery, I could've done what most non-pro athletes do and call it quits at 23, knee replaced in my 30s or whatever. But i chose a gruesome mutilation, and since it's a choice I made to be reconstructed and work day and night... up to 10 hours a day, over 570 days now, to regain my athleticism, i must put in the work. I would literally be jogging in place at red lights begging for a break for just 10 seconds while this would be playing, saying to myself "it's not a choice. this is the life i begged my surgeon for, it needs to be done. I signed the contracts saying i agreed to this grotesque life of a reconstruct and the work required to come back. it must be done no matter the sacrifice, i will die before i stop this work ...." the light turns green and i explode off the reconstructed leg into a sprint towards the abyss. It's been so long i'm not even sure what I'm runnign towards, i just hear this and know that my orders are to keep going into the darkness and I've come to love the purpose and drive it's given me. amazing that we hear this the same way. this is the anthem of those who are working dark nights for brighter days, head down, in the mud, soaked in rain and sweat, eyes stained in misery, doing what needs to be done for a better future. let's fucking go soldiers
@@zu5277 I'm not even sure what to say to that. I knew leg surgeries were tough stuff but damn. Part of me wants to celebrate cause someone thinks the way i do about this song, and another wants to give you a hug. Hope those brighter days comes around sooner rather than later yeah?
Imagine you’re a young man on a wooden ship in the middle of the stormy Atlantic. You have nothing to lose, and you know you’re about to die. And the last thing you hear is this. Chilling.
The sound of this instrument makes me think of a large ship on the ocean going through thick fog, it's eerie in a beautiful and chilling way, I love it
Great! Gnaal is gnaaling again ;-) Using bowstrings sounds very interesting, I might try them out. Admittedly I became a bit fed up by horsehair and it's sensitivity.
@@ELDRIMmusic I just got my dacron strings but found out there is wax applied to them which I try to get rid from now. Was this the case for your strings as well?
@@kveldmusicwere you able to get a good sound with the Dacron strings? I just changed out my horsehair for “polyethylene nylon bow string” but despite using a lot of rosin, the bow is just sliding across the strings with hardly any sound.
Back when we as human were smarter and could come up with instruments like this. Imagine the feeling those people felt, and the way they thought through creating this instrument for the first time. Bloody love it! I always find it interesting to watch other instruments and listen and i absolutely love discovering different kinds and wanting to try them out
I tried to build a larger talharpa and for the most part it is what it's supposed to be and I just need to get the right size strings for the right sound... and learn to play.
I remember the first video you put out like this, and saw it grow from the first thousand views to millions, truly was well done, clearly great craftsmanship on the instrument. Blessings and growth to Eldrim!
Very interesting to hear you use B50 Dacron! How many strands do you use for each of the notes? With the upper D being an octave higher I wonder if the tension is different enough to warrant using say two 16 strands and then a 14 or 12 strand line. Thank you for sharing and inspiring the construction of my own Taglharpa.
I have this almost identical instrument but my horse hair strings are damaged. I have put expensive cello strings on it but it still doesn't sound as good as yours.
Mycket vackert spelat! Skulle man få kunna se en video på hur man strängar om sin harpa? Jag är sugen på att byta ut mina tagelsträngar men är rätt osäker på hur, och ännu mer osäker på hur man går tillväga med stråken!
Wow archery line, that's really neat! I was actually thinking about going to horse hair with my lyre. You say it doesn't keep tune very long? That's too bad, but I guess it's what you get when you go natural. Thanks for posting and safe travels
Where can I buy one of these amazing instruments, do you guys make them or recommend a trustworthy crafter?, I'm located in Ontario, Canada but would like to save up to buy one!
I'm a beginner at the Tagelharpa but i love this Instrument. It connects you to the Universe and the old ones 💙 How many horse hair on each String did i have to use to make it sound like that dark drone vibrating? Thank you for your Play!
Sounds hauntingly beautiful. Just a little question here, does the waxed bow string material mess up the bow you use to play the instrument? Or is it just a matter of using a tot of rosin on the bow?
Is this a specific type of tagelharpa? It has a distinctly lower tonal quality that is different from others I have heard, or is it a matter of tuning? I love it. Not to be overly poetic but it is like it resonates with my soul.
Thank you! I wanted an instrument with a deeper voice, so I made this one. It is longer and the body holds more air than many other instruments in this family.
Everyone is talking about the beautiful music, but nobody is talking about how this man looks like he could single handedly hold off the Britons with an axe.
