This needs a nice, warm campfire, a band of travelling warriors, gallons of mead, and sweetrolls to accompany it.

Hello, I can't help it, your music moved me to an attempt at poetry:
"Gather now, from near, from far,
    Gather now, wherever you are.
By light of Sun, by light of Stars,
The World needs help as ne're before,
So gather now from directions four.
We may be far apart upon the land
But we find each other in the Music,
Sisters and Brothers, one human band.
Courage to all this music gives
To work for the healing of all that lives.
An ancient song yet ever new,
The Music whispers of what is True,
Like leaves in the wind it tells us
Never give up. Tho the w..a.y b.e long
W.e a.re together .in this Song.
Thank you very much for the as always beautiful music.

I've been the same way! There's a jouhikko which is essentially the finnish tagelharpa. Check out Staghelm Instruments if you're here in the US. I ordered a bass jouhikko for 600 and that's the most expensive thing he has. I think a plain jouhikko is 500? Not cheap but not bad for something hand crafted. He has a youtube video him playing the bass jouhikko somewhere.

    • @fawn4348
      @fawn4348 4 роки тому

It is possible to make a simple Tagelharpa/Jouhikko with few materials, though it most likely won't sound as good if it is your first. You can find some tutorials on how to do so scattered across UA-cam. Best of luck!

As if you take a deep breath on the ship, heading far, far to the north.

*To the tune of the song
    (Open)
Carry away from us, warrior falled
Carry away from us warrior all
On the wings of Huginn As
    Munnin follows
Oh Valkyrie take our warriors home
    (Chorus)
Longboat away to a land ne`r falters
Longboat away to a land so true
As I pray today to the all-father
    For leaves of Yggdrasil
    the Leaves of Yggdrasil.
    (Verse 1)
    Odin oh Odin
    Come with Gungniir
    Odin oh Odin
    Come see with pride
For the lands have not fallen
    The Aesir have spoken
With the Great Heathen Army none here shall die
    (Repeat open and chorus)
    (Verse 2)
    For Hel and Fenrir
    Bring thy destruction
    For Hel and Fenrir
    Follow our Lord
    Our fallen will stand in
    Asgard at ready
    Our Great Heathen Army
    You'll taketh no more.

Do you remember the tuning you used for this song? I just got a 3 string tagelharpa and am looking around for interesting tunings to try out.

Under the shady green leaves of Yggdrasil
3 Norns spin a thread so coarse
Fate of man and gods they weave
The fairest maid in all the kingdom
Hair of silver snow and ice
Lives in the heart of every warrior
But one filled her heart's desire
With a fever of love's fire
    The course of true love
    Never did run smooth
How much longer can they endure
    Life apart bitter youth
Lost in a land of a thousand forests
Far away from her true love
He kissed her lips so pale and rosy
She dreams till the sun comes up
And then daylight blinds her heart

Hello I found your chanel a few weeks go and even got my own lyre because I loved how it sounded while listing. I'm actually kinda wondering if you have any tips on how to play it I just got mine today and I'm kinda struggling to understand it all. Sorry if this wasn't the best video to post this comment on because it's not related to the lyre.

Hi, thank you! And I'm affraid I have no special tips on how to play lyre.. just play it in the way you want. But you should hold it like I hold it in Game of Thrones cover (not just laying on the table :) and then you have tu play strings with your right hand fingertips..thats it, I guess :)
