There is a major discrepancy btwn the Hebrew Masoretic and the Septuagint. 650yr discrepancy! They both can't be correct! Shem as Melchizedek is a sleight of hand to discredit the book of Hebrews and Jesus as our High Priest. Video is: Were the Pyramids Built Before the Flood? This will also clear up the misconceptions and distortions used to claim that the Flood timeline was after the pyramids were built and other claims as well used to discredit biblical history. Woah. "Spread the garden". Just conjecture here, but that sounds like a great image of the kingdom of God growing. If Eden was an image of a temple and Adam and Eve were commissioned to tend to it and multiply, it's kinda like an image of the kingdom of God and the great commission.

Does God take sides? Joshua asked the same question to the angel of Lord who answered, He stood for for Himself neither on one side or the other. So, I think God always takes His won side, that of the fulfilment of His words and purposes.
There's a really important skillset to reading the Bible that I am so glad you all are highlighting. We as 21st century, likely western, likely 1st world thinkers have all sorts of innate questions and values that we bring to Scripture without realizing it. When we do that, we can get hung up on (important) questions that are nevertheless irrelevant to the message of the text. Questions like "Does God take sides?" or "Does God approve of slavery?" are definitely worth asking and discussing, but they are also not at all what the text is actually talking about. Thinking about the Bible in those terms has really opened my eyes a lot to the message that *is* there, and I have you all to thank for that. Keep up the excellent work and God bless!

Been following the bible project for about 3 years now. This channel has helped me with teaching my children, providing specific in-context video content for our church, and has helped me to ask questions and revisit the foundation of my faith. I just want to thank you and everyone who has helped make this project come as far as it has. You all have been doing GREAT work and it goes fully appreciated! If only they did one on king david's greatest mistake. I once got my self into a situation where I was a little too obsessive over a crush I once had. I never had bad intentions, but the way I went about things was not okay. She called me a stalker and I was forbidden from every talking to her again. After my greatest mistake I felt like David after his greatest mistake. I was disgusted at myself for not having enough self control. Just like David I can't go back and fix my mistakes. The pain has mostly faded as i have come to terms with my mistakes over the years. Even when you are sorry for your mistakes action may leave consequences that never go away until heaven. I trusted in God and he blessed me, I cried my heart out to Lord all of the worst times of my life. I feel forever indebted to the lord for all he has done for me and how many times he has saved me from me.

Reading the Bible literally is dangerous (as shown by some of the questions) especially when someone takes a little chunk of the Bible and then tries to apply it to todays way of living instead of the whole context. The Bible is about love (God's Love and the way we should uplift our Love towards God and man). Bring Love into the world and not negativity and hate. Let your Love ripple out to the world - we need it. ❣
Good question and good answer, love it. Let me share my opinion as well, you can correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think God take sides, remember He loves you with all his heart, of course He wants you to be part of His plans but you have to make that decision though, because He is a loving God what will never force Him self on you.
Interesting to hear mention of the tradition that Melchezidek was actually Shem....I have also read that Melchezidek was born of Sopanim (Wife of Nir, Noah's brother) - I believe it is in Slavic version of Enoch? Would love to see more on these different traditions and maybe a video/series on the Book of Enoch.... traditions of Ethiopian Tewahedo Church also fascinating and would love to hear your insights on Ethiopian Christianity. When Tim says the Hebrew word for "bread" can also mean "feast," he is talking about a really common linguistic phenomenon called a synecdoche. We use them in English all the time. For example, when we say "Offer your hand in marriage," "hand" stands in for the whole person. It isn't just your hand that gets married. Speakers of ancient Hebrew used "bread" in the same way to mean not just the bread, but the whole meal.

However I have two 'quibbles': 1) Linking Hagar as a slave given by pharaoh is reasonable but a whole lot of inference. 2) Pre Jerusalem was inhabited by *Amorites & Jebusites* in Scripture. It was an abundance of food they were thinking. It was a English word that could describe a single object (bread) and can also mean a feast. I don’t think of a single food when I think of Thanksgiving… okay maybe turkey 😂
Back in the day you gave yourself to a "Master " if you had no means to provide for yourself or if you owed a debt I believe that's where the term slave applies biblically.
8:36 in Spanish we use "papa" as food for little kids but it literally means potato. But I'm on the border of El Paso and Mexico so it could just be a cultural thing since our Spanish is a little different from most countries
An English word that can be both one thing and more is Tea ( at least in England!) It can be a drink or a main meal in the late afternoon/early eve or even afternoon tea which is different again!!
I have noticed something which you might change later on (or you might already have). I was listening to this video and I decided to plug in my headphones and I only noticed then, that the stereo sound should have been mirrored (or was accidentally mirrored) left-to-right. So when facing the screen, when the person on the left speak, the sound comes from the right and same for the other side. [I have checked whether I had the headphones on correctly. :)]

Melchizadek was the title of the King of Salem. Just like the king of Egypt is titled Pharaoh. When David took the city of Salem, he became Melchizadek. The God of Salem was El-Elyon. Is El-Elyon the same as YHWH?
I can't think of a food that represents all other foods, but when you say "let's go for some coffee", coffee does sort of represent all the possible drinks.
The word choice used "God takes sides" another perspective is God's righteousness. We don't understand His ways or thoughts, yet in faith we stand and trust His righteousness, He is just. He chose who He sees fit for His purpose and His Glory
The Shem tradition makes sense in light of the cuneiform texts. Noah was a priest of the Creator (Enki/Ea (that is "Ya"), likely working at a ziggurat in Sumer when told to build a boat -- specifically he could read the signs in the stars and the environment as a trained and devout priest (the rest were likely preaching the prosperity gospel and rolling in gold, so they all drowned).
“God helps those who learn to help themselves(said by a One Republic).” Is that like the opposite teaching of this narrative? Saying we should trust God to provide without necessarily needing to attempt to succeed ourselves? How far does this go? Cuz people also say “ask and you shall receive.”

Or a 'roast' which (certainly in UK) could refer to a joint of meat or to a full on roast dinner with all the various side dishes.

It was an abundance of food they were thinking. It was a English word that could describe a single object (bread) and can also mean a feast. I don’t think of a single food when I think of Thanksgiving… okay maybe turkey 😂

8:36 in Spanish we use "papa" as food for little kids but it literally means potato. But I'm on the border of El Paso and Mexico so it could just be a cultural thing since our Spanish is a little different from most countries

An English word that can be both one thing and more is Tea ( at least in England!) It can be a drink or a main meal in the late afternoon/early eve or even afternoon tea which is different again!!

I have noticed something which you might change later on (or you might already have). I was listening to this video and I decided to plug in my headphones and I only noticed then, that the stereo sound should have been mirrored (or was accidentally mirrored) left-to-right. So when facing the screen, when the person on the left speak, the sound comes from the right and same for the other side. [I have checked whether I had the headphones on correctly. :)]

Melchizadek was the title of the King of Salem. Just like the king of Egypt is titled Pharaoh. When David took the city of Salem, he became Melchizadek. The God of Salem was El-Elyon. Is El-Elyon the same as YHWH?

bread is often used colloquially for the word money in american english, because money buys food, so its similar.
The word choice used "God takes sides" another perspective is God's righteousness. We don't understand His ways or thoughts, yet in faith we stand and trust His righteousness, He is just. He chose who He sees fit for His purpose and His Glory
