From as early as seven years old, Wonderland has been a beacon of inspiration for me. The insatiable curiosity of Alice and the dreamlike scenarios of Lewis Carroll’s universe have always resonated deeply within me. Just like Alice, I’ve always been driven to question everything, making curiosity my life’s driving force.
The concept of simulation theory has intrigued me since childhood, prompting me to question the nature of my own reality. A cherished memory of mine involves my grandmother-a woman profoundly in tune with nature, yet also a passionate gamer. I can still picture her playing the original Tomb Raider. She paused, looked at me, and whispered, “One day, these virtual worlds will be as real as our own.” That sentiment set me on a path of endless wonder.
Over the years, we’ve witnessed films with breathtaking visuals and video game engines, like Unreal, pushing the boundaries of realism. Then came the AI revolution.
About a year ago, I founded “realdreams”, an AI community nestled in East London. We host free events and workshops, all centered on AI’s magic. My experience with DALLE.2, a transformative AI tool, was so profound that I felt compelled to share its wonders with a larger audience.
The progress since then has been staggering. Tools like Midjourney and DALLE3 now create photorealistic worlds, challenging even the most vivid human imaginations. Runway Gen2 has been particularly transformative for filmmaking. While I cherish its possibilities, I also deeply value human interactions and collaborations in the filmmaking process.
This trailer is a glimpse into a vision I hope to bring to life with a real team of passionate individuals. AI has revolutionized how I manifest my ideas, democratizing the art of storytelling. It’s a thrilling era where everyone can be a creator.
This project springs from my enduring passion for AI and the myriad questions it raises. Beyond showcasing the future of cinema, I aim to use AI as a lens to delve into pressing concerns surrounding it. While there’s a palpable apprehension about AI, I believe in channeling that concern into constructive dialogue.
I chose the immensely talented Florence Pugh to be the voice and face of Alice, and with the aid of AI, I was able to emulate her voice and likeness with striking authenticity both scary and exciting. For other characters, voice modulation tools enabled me to infuse my own voice, enriching the overall narrative- but these are workarounds to share my vision; if I could make this film, I would use real crews, real performances, real people!
Gpt4 - this helped me express my story ideas and play around with the narrative using ai to back and forth different ideas.
Midjourney - This was used to create my storyboards, my images that I would then bring to life.
Runway Gen2- This was used to animate the film, turning images into videos- I must have made thousands of clips picking and choosing the best moments for the edit.
Pikalabs- This was used to generate videos with young alice and her father as runway has filters in place that prevent this (for very good reason!) so i used Pikalabs for these shots.
Elevenlabs - this is used to generate the narration, at first i tried lots of different styles, a classic disney style, a philisophical version with Alan Watts before I landed on Florence which made it feel a lot more personal to Alice, had more impact.

One comment says this gave him goosebumps. Same here, and then I realized that the field is progressing quickly enough that the capacity of the tools out there has notably improved since you started this project. So now my goosebumps have goosebumps.
This is actually some kind of awesome! I can see Gilliam-esque influences in this. I am usually put off put these type of AI renderings, but this is something else… blown away, magnificent concept. It needs to be fleshed out as a real production.

Impressive and evocative. You've removed much of the 'uncanny valley' of AI but kept all of the mysterious and eeriness that makes this form so delightful and captivating. Awesome.

I saw this some months ago. I absolutely loved it because I grew up watching all the classic versions of Alice In Wonderland. I have my own MJ renditions of my own Alice. This will be a must see on my bucket list of AI films. Bravo!

in a fascinating world where the border between reality and illusion fades. Alice, a young woman tormented by her memories of an enchanted wonderland from her childhood, convinces her father to create a revolutionary machine to explore the recesses of her mind.
The machine, however, reveals a transformed wonderland, obscured by disturbing changes. The iconic characters retain traits of their identity, but their essence is altered, plunging Wonderland into a dark and oppressive atmosphere.

This is really incredible, both visually and sonically. I really like the AI generated music, the electronic sounding vibrato and very alien like electronic sound design towards the end really amplifies the experience. I can't wait to see what this much passion put into AI tools could create in a few years or even a few months...
The original music and sound design was not AI. The voice over was made using ElevenLabs.

I keep coming back to this, the idea of a dreamlike simulation tempting a person to live inside it forever to escape the cruelty of reality is such a fascinating surface concept for a story and metaphor at the same time, Making the fantasy literally tempt her with the image of her dead father is chilling yet deeply interesting Idea, I hope a movie of this gets made but just the trailer is such a neat work of art all on its own

This is astonishing. I love it. It is as best an example of how AI can be incredibly inspirational and creative in the hands of someone with a strong idea that I have seen. It blows a huge hole in the idea that using Midjourney is just a rip off of other peoples work. I will say though that the audio on a few of my systems actually lets it down a bit, including over blown low end and spoken word being hard to discern. This is my only criticism and it is not meant as such. I just think this is so extraordinary that the poor sound really lets it down. I love the sound track I love the spoken word, I love the music, but it does not come across as best as it could here.

This should be a real movie OMG, this could be completely doable too, where it uses live action when she's in the real world and AI generated video for the simulation. The trippy nature lends itself to the "simulated world" nicely.

I wonder if these AI creations will become more or less interesting as the tools become easier to control? Part of their appeal to me is the unpredictability of the direction of the film, which is probably at least partially due to unintended results of prompting.

This have me goosebumps. It is amazing. Alice must fight to keep reality reality and fantasy fantasy. What the movie reveals is that what's reality, and what's fantasy, is open to debate, open to warfare. Once you go through that rabbit hole.

Ai is actually terrifying, it doesn't understand creativity like you or i, but it will take creative points and craft something using it to a scary degree.

This is amazing. I have done a few AI films myself. How do you keep the consistency of the character’s appearance and that film look. I really struggle with his. Often have to base my characters off famous people.
Do you use dalle 3 or mid journey for the majority of images
I love everything about this and wish it was a movie so bad!
What Dalle or runway prompts do you enter to get the image of, say, the mad hatter ??? The look is cinematic and images consistent with the technocolor film look in my opinion.
