Absolute yes to allowing the imperfection. That's been such a huge shift for me...allowing my books to act as sketchbooks for my brain instead of having One True System or be perfectly aesthetic. And yeah I know what you mean about the 'once you've been in a Weeks' thing....I jumped to a (spring start) cousin this year and I'm not even out of my last year's spring start weeks and am already kindof missing it/feeling overwhelmed by the cousin!
I'm so attached to the Weeks-ever since my first one about 5 years ago! I love planners so I am so itching to try the other Hobonichi sizes to be able to feel more free to journal in the same space as plan. I'm hoping it would build consistency ;) Thanks for sharing an update in real time, because it's helpful to normalize planner flow/tweaks! Take care Julie!
I love watching your videos! The transparency level is so comforting, and relatable. I have spent so much money trying to find my planner peace. And your videos allows to me to be gentle with myself, because I didn’t feel alone or ashamed about the money spent lol. And like yourself, I have accomplished it! I have planner peace 🎉. I use a horizontal goal layout from Plum Paper Planner with a few add-on. The A5 size gives me comfort. I have included post-it notes and a regular notebook for brain dumps, shopping list, and random to- dos so I’m not complicating life. Thank you Julie for being you!
Im using my cousin for my daily intentions and tarot journal and a B6 Night Owl planner for work. I had a wobble in the first week and spent way too much time looking at rhe jibun techo. And then I dug into why I wanted to change. Part of it was thinking my planner could fix uncertainty elsewhere and part of it was not playing with layouts in my B6 planner. And then I was in Barnes and Noble and they had it... I spent 20 minutes staring at it but walked away, and I feel really good about that.
Covers can definitely make you want reach out for a planner even more! If we are going to be looking at something every day, it needs to make us happy! Looks like you found your planner peace so I wouldn’t try to force another book into the equation. If is not adding anything else to your life, it’s ok to put them to the side for now.
"CHange the cover and calm down" I need this on a sticker immediately with her name for credit . Confession: I rewatch her videos while I am planning just to laugh while I am decorating my planner . Her voice is so soothing and planning-background-perfect LOL
I love how you are using your hobo A6, it’s my first year using it and I’m using it pretty much like you, it’s kinda crazy and chaotic but also very cute 🥰 I stick the random or ugly stickers I seem to end up with through the year 😂😃🤩
I came to realization that I don't like planners anymore. I don't like the limiting structure, I don't like the limiting same layout for the whole year. I want to change layouts in instant, as well as I like to write notes when I want to, so it's a bujo for me now in a grid notebook 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Limited structure is sometimes better for beginners or for certain kind of users. As users get more advanced they tend to favor more freedom or their own systems
I am using a Sterling Ink TN 1 full year. I wish I had gone the compact. I plan to next year. The full planner has way too much paper for me and I don’t know how to use it. I put some journaling prompts in the back. I tend to use some of it as a book journal. But that still leaves a ton of paper and I just don’t know what to do with that much paper. I am loving the front of the planner. It is exactly what I need for the monthly and the weekly. I got the horizontal version. I am using that to keep myself accountable for what I eat and for I exercise. That being said, I have not done much this month and I really need to work on that.
You're amazing Julie and so so beautiful 😍 I laughed so hard at the year in pixels part, "I found it in my stash and I was like let me stick it here and now I have no idea what to do with it. So that's where I am with that." It is seriously like that sometimes. It's the zero f**** vibe for me 😊
I thought B6 was my size. After trying EC, all sizes of HP and really liking the mini hp w/ daily inserts but really wanting to try hobonichi. So I got a A6, too small. Well they don’t have a B6. I happen to find a spring start cousin for like 22$ on Amazon. Gave it a try. 🎉 planner peace. 🥰
I'm pretty content and happy with my system tbh. First time on the Cousin, second time on the Weeks, and I'm glad I made the right choice to get a Cousin instead of an A6, an A6 wouldve been too restrictive for me.
I'm more focused on your nails vs the planners lol. I'm tempted to get an A6 for the same thing. But I said I was going to get an April start Mega Weeks. I need to get a 2025 planners idea list going. But then I'm kinda neglecting my mini HP that I do still enjoy in my Notiq cover.
Thank you so much! Im using my weekly’s as a to do list and planner and the daily’s for diary just like you. Its so good! I absolutely love this way, its so structured.
I’m forever a digital planner girly, but I wanna journal in something physical so bad. But it’s been so long since I’ve done any kind of paper planning etc & I have no idea where to start lol
I’ve been loving my Aura Estelle x Annie plans the past few weeks, like the perfect combo of a weeks layout and an A5 size. It’s been really vibing for me, and it’s been letting me really embrace imperfection which is just good for me as a person 😂 I also have a “weeks” from sterling ink just for work and it’s… kind of working? Idk I don’t love it quite as much as I thought but it’s also not not working… 😂 so I can relate to this video. Also I love how those two covers look together! I want to be a cover person I just know I’m not. my credit card probably just sighed in relief 😅
I'm in the A5 undated CP for personal/work/health, B6 Stalogy as my catchall, EC monthly for my budget, and 10 notebooks as journals for different things. This system is working great for me right now since I don't have to touch each notebook everyday.
I have that same A6 cover and I will use an AVEC A6 forever now. lol. I have a gorgeous brown Moterm for my weeks but the weeks is not working for me- BUT I NEED MY COVER! lol I do not know what to do.
It's funny you say that you feel why am I re-writing them... I ask myself the same, it's a waste of time. And I am thinking of getting rid of my weeks not only 3 weeks into the yr but I hate it bc it's so wasteful and the hobo A5 isn't so portable, or maybe I just NEED to buy a new bigger purse lol shopping reasoning! Lol thanks Julie for another great video!
Hey there! Things are going great in my planners/journals! I am in a Wonderland222 - A5 for my planner ( I also journal in here periodically), the Take a Note for my daily journaling, and I have a blank Wonderland 222 B6 notebook that I take on the go. I love some of the ideas you shared from other creatives. It has given me some additional ideas when I get the itch to buy other things. I also like writing down where you get the ideas, because I almost always forget. Enjoyed the video!
😂 I’m still trying to figure out my planner lineup. I always return to bullet journals. What if you kept the Hobonichi Weeks for those times you crave perfection. I know at times I will be inspired by others spreads and just have to create something aesthetically pleasing.
I don’t get it 😂 but I haven’t used a weeks before. But I am kinda feeling it in my A5 wonderland 222 planner this year. It’s the first time I’m using it and it just seems to work.
Hey Julie, im using a Cousin for the first time this year and I’m really enjoying it. I was initially worried that A5 pages would be too large but I’ve really enjoyed writing in them. Thanks for the vid!
Great insightful video! This is the first year I've used a planner with tomoe river paper and I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would! It's a B6 Aura Estelle x Annie Plans daily, it's been great for keeping daily highlights but I didn't realize I could write so small lol
I am thinking of switching my planner, with going back to the office, I am looking for a smaller and lighter one, actually thinking of the Hobo Weeks and migrating some information to a travel journal. Still thinking about what I need (again! 😂).
I agree - planner peace in the Hobo Cousin. I love it, LOVE IT!! I have a supplemental A5 Hobonichi grid notebook on the side for trackers, my class info, and basically anything I'd need a blank page for. But I added in a Hobonichi Weeks for work because I didn't want to bring my stickered-up cutesy Cousin to work. The weeks is working great! But NOW I may have my "big girl job" (I am almost 50, went back to school, and am finishing up my degree after being a SAHM for 20 years), and I am not sure if the Weeks is going to suit me anymore. I am trying to decide what would be a good planner for a SpEd teacher job. Another Cousin perhaps? Just without all the stickers? I am not sure..... I would go A6 in a heartbeat but not having the weekly is a dealbreaker and I don't really want to have to buy a supplemental book. Decisions, decisions... Well, now I put a huge long comment in your video haha. Thanks for your fun videos, Julie. I always look forward to them. Your humor rivals mine -- it's great!
I used a Hobo Weeks for several years and HATED it! I don’t like horizontal planning, but I used it for a purse planner that I also used as a wallet. I was so happy to discover the Weekly Notebook by Paper Tess this year! ❤ I now have a purse planner that I actually use!
I’m happy so far in a Moleskine Weekly planner. I do use notepaper left over from an old Plum Paper custom planner for daily planning so I can draw a mind map kinda thing and add random notes. Once that runs out, I like what you do in the little Hobonichi and might go that direction for daily humane planning (as opposed to perfection.) I’ve slowed down on kits, too. I like that you take the little Hobonichi with you and actually take it out of the house, too.
I use an RHS POCKET weekly diary with all 5he other bits included for notes etc. I have never wanted to do it myself I do decorate my diary rough make it mine as it were and i love my diary 2024 😊 love watching videos like this ❤️
i’ve given myself too many choices this year. feeling a little overwhelmed. i love what you’re doing in your a6! maybe i should put the cover on mine. lol. thanks for keeping it real and throwing a cuss word in every now and then. you always make me laugh. keep doing what you’re doing! ❤
I left you a comment on IG when you posted about your a6 because we are totally twinning with the down and dirty a6 hobonichi to do listing. Agree on the need for a messy space to just be "free" to do whatever lol. I chose oh about 43 planners at the start of the year and I will changed it up constantly depending on how my week is going lol. I have certain planners for certain dedicated things (like content and fitness and family schedule) and the rest really change around.
GIIIIRL!, LOL! I just posted a video about my crazy perfectionism when it comes to planning. Right now I'm about using and loving when I have and trying not to stress out about the little things- emphasis on "try" LOL! Great video :)
It took so much of me to let go of the hobonichi weeks (we had a toxic relationship), of all hobonichis in fact. I think what helps me now is that I was forced to start in January (as sterling ink planners do) and I am still happy in the standard TN common planner. But I am struggling a little with perfectionism in the A5 and miss my wild, scruffy, random little pocket leuchtturm...
I'm still loving my Hobonichi Cousin its unperfect/perfect planner. I'm using my Sterling Ink Weeks instead of my Hobonichi Weeks because I'm a lister and it's perfect for that. My Hobonichi weeks is budgeting. The only one I'm unsure is my Sterling Ink A5 it's so similar to my Cousin and if I want to use sticker kits ?? Maybe I should switch that one out for the wonderland222???? Lol planner problems.
long story short....2 planner stack...went down to one...but the wrong one....just one week into the year, flipped to the other and have found planner contentment....(for now anyway) in my petite folio.
not me watching everyone's planner videos bc i NEED to figure out what I'm doing for 2025. I have SUCH a strong attachment to the weeks but part of me is like well get the A6 HON to journal. but i also don't journal... I'm constantly going back and forth and my brain hurts lmao
What clear plastic cover do you have on your cousin? I got a Midori a5 because many reviews said it would fit the cousin. Well it doesn’t fit mine lol. I also have a Galen leather cover. Didn’t put the back leather strap on for you?
This is such a great idea I’m trying to be all rightie tightie and my mind goes a million miles an hour and I need a visual to do - maybe I keep the week List neat and my daily the shit show that it can be
Ummmm I’m still trying to figure out what I want to stick with. I think I’ve come down to a monthly only to see my work schedule and kids sport schedules and pre plan travel. Then I ordered some pages for my tul Junior cause I feel like I need to keep a separate work planner cause I don’t like all my personal stuff showing at my work. 🤷🏻♀️
I have 2 planners and I have anxiety about writing in them because i am afraid of messing them up but not using them at all is a waste too so I stress myself out over it.
‘Change the cover and calm down’ I love this! We need it on a sticker (or 2) for sure.
I love that you are embracing less "planning" and making things aesthetic...and yet it stills look so beautiful!!
Thank you!! 😊

Its a good point that you dont actually know until you start. So far things are on course for me except that I've a few things, so feeling good!

on Etsy!

WE GOT THIS! Also, why are we like this lol
I love this as usual. I think I want a Cousin, but I’m retired and I don’t know if I need all that room. I still love the cousin. Many blessings.
It took so much of me to let go of the hobonichi weeks (we had a toxic relationship), of all hobonichis in fact. This just made me buy an a6! Now i'm running the entire hobo line! Cousin, Weeks, A6! Thanks a lot ... wink, wink!
lol Hope you enjoy it!
Love the messy planner idea! I used the week for 7 years-it was really hard not to buy another 😂
long story short....2 planner stack...went down to one...but the wrong one....just one week into the year, flipped to the other and have found planner contentment....(for now anyway) in my petite folio.
Great video Julie! For me, the planners are working fine BUT how I am using them is a work in progress. And why does the B6 seem to be calling to me?
that B6 is a little planner devil hahahaha
not me watching everyone's planner videos bc i NEED to figure out what I'm doing for 2025. I have SUCH a strong attachment to the weeks but part of me is like well get the A6 HON to journal. but i also don't journal... I'm constantly going back and forth and my brain hurts lmao

I have the midair A5 cover, So sorry yours doesn't fit! This is my third year using their covers with no issues!
Ok gotcha! Did you add the stretchy, black flap to the back of your Galen cover?
@@samanthasmith5239 no it came with it !
Where did you get that sticker?! "Sorry I'm late, I didn't want to come" I need it
I *think that's from HoneyB Shop OR Red Bubble lol
Hi Julie! What is the name of the shop you received an order from? Salam Creates?
Yes that’s the name! You can find them on IG!
Thank you! I absolutely love your new aesthetic and how you are incorporating journaling and just writing in your planner. 💖@@JuliesPlans
This is such a great idea I’m trying to be all rightie tightie and my mind goes a million miles an hour and I need a visual to do - maybe I keep the week
List neat and my daily the shit show that it can be
Is that picture with the cat on the scooter a sticker?
yes! lol the seller of the little gifts cover sent it to me so not sure where it's from!
I’m dying laughing about your workouts. Becuz….. well, let’s just say… I relate.
It’s sooooo hard! I’m going to keep trying though!
if you just want somewhere to write that's "freeing" for you, get a notebook. You don't have to buy an expensive planner for that.
Thank goodness is it wasn’t expensive :)
