The shah's vanity did him in. He thought of himself as the father of his country, but the country rose against him. He took it to heart and felt it keenly. At any price (unfortunately even blood) he wanted to restore the former image, cherished for years of a happy people prostate in gratitide before their benefactor. But he forgot that we are living in times when people demand rights, not grace. And the same applies for the current regime, we demand basic human rights, not theology.

After 2500 years, we are still searching for democracy in Iran. Unfortunately, we still have no idea what democracy is and what it takes to achieve it. Some still live in the past and some have disillusion-anal hope to live for future. You can't impose democracy on the people who don't understand what it's, to them it's just a "word".

I think, shah had a very good vision about the world and he understood the foreign policy very well. In fact, he understood it much better than he understood his own people. ONLY if he could understand it better...ONLY IF...then we wouldn't be suffering under these mullahs...its a pity...

The nationalisation of the oil dident come thru with mossadegh.. it was Ahamd Shah who signed a 50 year contract with the english anglo oil compony check it up.. 1952 the contract was terminated and the oil was nationalised during mossadeghs reign. At the same time while controling oil, middle east, etc he couldn't control his own government , he cared more about development & tech in Iran
no matter how evil he was you can't compair him to this regime

right, savak was made of the CI A agnets in Iran, they don't follow any rules and don't even take orders from US government. Most agents in Iran had deals with the British
SAVAK's main goal was to make Iranians angry against regime and SAVAK was 100% out of control of Shah
The military was Sha's and in most cities, the soldiers never had any orders to shoot

I've got a bracelet from his exwife's auction when she snuffed it in Paris a few years or so ago. However , I will not express what I think about the Shah of Iran , I just know that iran hasn't got great genes for leaders these days. their good in maths , in medecine and have great looking women , but honestly the Shah was what people, would say a dictator , more stylish then the one's of today especu=ially in Iran ,but a dictator all the same.

@sandelf. The Iran-Iraq could have been avoided if only the US did not support brutal dictators in the middle east. How did Saddam Hussein achieve power? Through US support.
Khomeini did not want Saddam's head he warned Saddam numerous times that if he went as far as invade that he would feel the Iranian wrath. Khomeini held votes among his people to what they wanted and yes he decided who the most significant candidates were.

for your info all tiny country which has been created by British(SHAHRAK NOT even city size) around Persian Gulf were belong to IRAN, and they used to speak Persian+with more attention you will find mostly still speak Persian as well. YES,IRAN has lots of Nations

I dont need the definition of knowledge, but from your views i can still see the lack of it
the nation is in slavery now.
Youre going to talk about industrialization and economy, he was a genius reguarding these two areas, he didnt sell the oil source like these bastards are doing now, he made products of oil and sold them, this meant more income and employment, the way in which he ran the country was not his downfall, it was his belief that if the iranian people want him to go, he will go

Knowledge doesn't come in shape of oversimplification. Lots of people don't even realize that Reza acted and talked the way all fascist idiots did.
    I. e. industrialization instead of building up the basics which are the factories, mass education instead of strengthening artisanry.
This way he caused what happened in all countries that were mislead this way. Exchange rates aren't always a matter of public property. Sometimes they indicate a nation in slavery.
