Black Mountain Honey is a No Nonsense Beekeeping Channel.
We are based in North Wales and manage around 150 colonies of bees, plus nucleus colonies.
We produce Great Taste Award winning honey and sell nucleus colonies to members of the public.
Our 6 frame overwintered nucleus colonies sell out very fast every year so early ordering is advisable.

We supply F1 Mated Buckfast Queens throughout the season. These are genetics used by the UK's biggest bee farmer - Murray McGregor - and are not available to general public, except through resellers like us! Check out our queens page on our website.

We are passionate about beekeeping and really enjoy helping beekeepers through our UA-cam channel.

#NO NONSENSE BEEKEEPING is a UK based beekeeping channel, designed to keep beekeeping as simple and enjoyable as possible. There are no overly complicated techniques or intricate pieces of equipment.
We cover all beekeeping topics ranging from queen rearing, disease recognition/control, honey extraction, swarm management/collection, how to make splits and much more!
My personal favourite aspects of beekeeping are selecting queens for rearing, rearing queens for mating, making up nucs for overwintering and collecting swarms.
We aim to bridge the gap between commercial and hobbyist beekeepers and cater for beekeepers of all experience levels.

Well done. If I would have had someone like you to follow when I started beekeeping would have been so much easier. Really important to do 7 day inspection. If more newbees would do this they would do much better. I get alot of calls asking why my bees swarmed but they haven't done an inspection for at least a couple weeks. If you don't look in your hives you won't ever learn what the bees are doing and why.
Yes. 7 day inspections are a minimum and you can probably extend to 9-10 day IF you have a clipped queen, but you still run the risk of losing them. 14 days is too much of a risk even with a clipped queen
Thank you
Hi Lawrence, good sound advice mate .
Thanks 👍
Hi Lawrence. Great video. What reduced yield do you expect from the long hive compared with national stacked hive?
Considerable I would say!
Hello Lawrence. Really enjoying your content. I am located in southern US....in Knoxville, Tennessee. I am wondering....do you ship Jolanta queens to US? Or is that too long of a trip?
Hi Alexey. Glad you enjoy the content :) I'm afraid we arent event shipping to Northern Ireland at the moment due to Brexit. Probably not set up to export to the US. Not sure its even legal actually?
Thanks, if a colony has run away with you a bit and stored too much in the brood box, is there a method to get them to move the stores to the supers?
You can bruise the stores and add space above and they will move it. Or move the frame of honey above into a brood box and replace with foundation.
@@BlackMountainHoney thanks so much
Hi. How many frames does this long beehive? Can you give the internal and external dimensions
It takes 40. Hyde Hives will have the dimensions on their site
Did you clipped the queen?
Not in this hive. I will do in a future episode though ;)
How many years does a queen can maintain a consistant egg laying capacity
It really varies. They can go for a good few years if well mated
@@BlackMountainHoney She must be knackered 🙈.I love these hives , i cant wait to do my course i really want one of these 😊🐝.
