Kerri Chandler always told me that there are 2 countries in the world where a DJ should play in his life : Japan and Ireland. I've had the chance to play in Ireland few years ago and the crowd is amazing. It's like they learn house and electronic music at school. Such an incredible experience to play for warm and educated people.
This just gave me goosebumps and made me shed a tear, just from watching it. I've NEVER seen energy like that at a live show where the crowd was so appreciative and open hearted. I always wish that crowds would be more like this when I go to shows. That pure magical and collective energy doesn't seem to exist much around the states.
I can only really speak for Scotland (although the people of Ireland are very similar) and the crowds are always good. Probably down to the fact that we have a 3am closing time, so we make the most of the time. Some of the wildest nights I have seen have been Optimo at the sub club on a Sunday night. Sadly no more :(
Irish crowds! Honestly when I moved to England I was shocked by the difference, they give a more reserved response. At home we just can't hold the passion for music and fun inside. Have to let it all out!
Was at this gig and to say it felt like the world stud still for this one song! He opened for jack master but honestly jack should have opened for him!
This is Ireland summed up. This was my teens growing up with this club, the twisted pepper and the hangar.....all have since been closed or demolished due to the greedy corporate government agendas
ah mate i saw him live, but on the fucking worst sound system i've ever heard. was purely the crowd singing it ffs! still absoloute magestic, araya, borderless too madness.
You're a SETI researcher scanning the sky for radio waves, and poring over the data from last night you notice a strong signal was recorded from a source 3 million light years away for a few minutes. The signal varies in frequency around 1024 MHz; it appears to be frequency-modulated and thus carries some kind of information. Looking closer, you realized that the FM-encoded signal is amplitude-modulated in a manner that suggests two channels of information. On a whim, you do your best to clean noise from dust out of the signal, reconstruct the information on the two channels, shift it into the frequency range of human hearing in Earth's atmosphere, and listen to the result as stereo audio. This is what you hear, from a culture that is probably long dead.
gerd janson plays this in his unfamous but incredible i dj set. you can find it on soundcloud. i was sending this set my gf after the night i talked finally to her (after 3 x years of not being brave enough doing it, shes total princess) at rober johnson. 2 x years later i asked gerd for the peter gabriel song from this set... he wasnt having it with... but then he ended his set with fatima yamaha. i was literally dying...

HE WAS AN OPENER?!
That crowd reaction was unbelievable.
History still stands on this tune. How it all came full circle since 2004 settles the desire to fulfil tones that can not be denied.

would love it to can hear this without the sounds of the people. he played it so fu**king good there! just perfect.
If I was a famous dj I would prefer an audience like this in stead of a lame crowd.
