Amazing new techniques. Here in Canada any gas pipe larger than 2" has to be welded and we traditionally ran black schedule 40 iron pipe. Today with galvanized no painting is required and that mega press is a he'll of a lot faster than any welder I have ever seen.
Game changer.
Chucky you da absolute maaan brother. The best channel out here. Thank you Chuck for all your doing brother, the boys killing it. All the best Chuck
Awesome video Chuck, with those tools you couldn't make the job easier, and your right another satisfied customer! 👍 keep the video's coming ☝️
Thanks 👍
I know that invoice was jnsane. But that job look so fun it's not even about the money. Seems awesome just doing it
800' of fun.
TEAM BARRON IS FREAKIN KILLING IT IN THE PLUMBING GAME! Doing big jobs like that is a difficult task takes time and alot of cash money. Me personally never used Mega Press on any gas over 2 inch. We usually have to weld it. But damn that Mega Press is a game changer. Cuts the installation time in half and we know time is money.... keep pushing for the stars guys!💪💪
Yes a real task here but handled with mega g all the way.
That’s some BEAUTIFUL work guys, one to be proud of
Whats up fella.....:Thank you. good chatting with ya
Good job guys big pipe
Thanks Louie
Nice job what a Time Saver
And wear and tear on body.
@@ChuckBarron indeed sir
Another thing. With runs that long don't you have to add offsets for expansion?.
No sir. Not here.
Would you trust Megapress to tie into a 1" gas line in a crawlspace?
Megapress or was that MegapressG? Is the tool the same regardless? For 2”‘and under they use a different tool than that Rigid 340, was that also a Rigid or was that the Milwaukee unit? It was grey so I figure not the later.
Same tool.
You have to weld anything 2.5 inches or bigger in Canada by code. Didnt know you could use those in the states.
Good info....thanks B
just ait until al those "long length runs" work loose and chew the seals up. thermal expansion and contraction is a hoe, I'm thinking some of them will be leaking within 5 years and others by 15 years at best. especially outdoors on rooftops, where things go from freezing/ice/snow loaded to sun baking in winter. methinks they forgot to use enough "swing joints" or zig-zags in the 999 feet straight runs(lol) I'm not a cannuck, but I do know some of your codes and regulations for the nasty weather play. 🙃
nice work Chuck
Thanks 👍 The squad doing it.
I've ran 3" main gas line into a hotel. I've messed with larger gas line quite a bit but it's mostly 1" or less.
Same here.
Viega has corrected me on the phone a couple times lol. I pronounce it the same way you do and they respond “It’s VEEGA, sir” haha
I love your videos! Keep ‘em coming!
I see....Thank you. Good to know!
Cool Video. We are getting ready to run 3003 feet of black steel on a big elementary school. Hopefully it goes and looks this good. Nice Work. Is that Stainless or Galvanized?
I used mega press for the first time 2 weeks ago and all the fittings I pressed were crooked as shit, especially the street fittings then saw a video on correcting deflection with mega press but still seems kind of odd. I could move the fittings, something I didn't trust about it.
You can actually move fitting as per instructions after press.
IFGC says welded OVER 4”
Another nice job Chuck!! Only thing that gusts is nothing to protect the roof while you’re cutting
Keep up the good work
We’ve been using Megapress off and on
Thanks for the tip. Yes i noticed too.....protect in place fella's
@@ChuckBarron when I first started and didn’t know any better, we put a plastic tarp in front of a set of French doors. We were cutting baseboard cabinets with a chop saw. Needless to say, that $1500 door taught me a lesson about metal shaving damage
Bad ass tool
Technology...amazing
Just in case anybody's wondering; each one of those 3 inch MegaPress elbows costs about $180 a pop.
What do those fittings run Chuck about $150 / piece?
Yes indeed.
Is that Galvanized pipe for running gas, mmmm, in my state is cheap stuff from Turkey Taiwan Vietnam cheaper, unless it is a government job than American specs.
yes. salt air here. Code.
What kind of blade do you use on the chop saw?
Ridgid sells it and it's the bomb. I forget the number
The Milwaukee long press tool doesn’t hesitate like that. And you don’t need 2 guys to operate it.
Mv....its got some weight for sure.
@Mike V. That is true about the Milwaukee long throw press tool. Problem that I don't like about the Milwaukee large diameter press kits for copper and steel is that you can't swivel the actuator jaws around on the press ring dimples. In this case they wouldn't matter much because the space is wide open on the roof, but they are very awkward and cumbersome in tight spaces.
A SHEET OF PLYWOOD UNDER THE SAW
AND A 5 GAL BUCKET FOR DEBRIS
DOESN'T HURT !!
True.....soooooooo true
cutting 3" pipe on a membrane roof with saw? I suggest a giant tarp or two to collect the shavings. yeah I know the wind is a killer for that to work out. but it would be cheaper than insurance claim of damaging the roof. DOH!
great point.
i have good news and bad news first the good we crimped all the fittings, and now the bad news is the tool fell and went through the roof lol
Ouch!
This is wheee I get mad at engineers. I recently did a restaurant that was about the same amount of btus. They wanted 3” as well. This included a 3” ansel. The run wasn’t super long so I’m guessing it was more btus than this. I think it would be much cheaper to run 2” or even 1 1/2” with a med or high pressure service. It would cost you 2-3 regulators and maybe an extra ansel. But those devices in smaller sizes wouldn’t be much different in price. Plus you’d save the huge amount of time and material cost running 80’ of 2” versus 80’ of 3”. Especially with the amount of turns in the run. It also slowed down the job because of how much harder the fittings were to get. But hey engineers went to college so they know better. What do they care about how much the job costs.
I wonder what the difference in cost is of the long throw press tool and 2 1/2-4 head set versus a whole new threading set up for larger sizes. I’ve never threaded over 2” but based on the old rigid power vice and die set up we have you couldn’t do 3” even if you had the dies. I guess the difference is you can rent the mega press tools.
Dont stop mid press browski
Viega se dice sachtman viiga
Clutch Company!!
only thing that scares me about magical rubber(synthetic) on gas lines, is knowing how the mercaptans(odorant) is corrosive and tends to build up and leech into things in dead flow zones and happily eats away at things.
testing, accelerated testing, blah blah blah. I'm guessing many failures by 15 year age mark.
Another valid point. Install, test, repeat.
Those ain't cheap fittings...
So pro though
Better be HBNR and not the FKM or EPDM!!!
We need your skills fella...DELETE me from the ACFD soon.....ha

I have a feeling it will still fail at the 15year mark....
