    The Yes PYL / Pick Your Line is a tapered, directional board that is maybe medium stiff, but easy to ride.

    Love the PYL. I have a 159 & 162 from 2018 and it's definitely pretty stiff, I think they have softened it over the years.

    Great review. I’ve been hanging out to see more reviews as we are about to hit our season. The underbite on the PYL is different (better float in powder?) to the Typo and it is probably slightly stiffer but do you have any other info on how they are different? Love the comment about the different names for bases brands are using. It’s just a whole heap of marketing bs to confuse the average punter. Thanks again.

    Nice video. Im looking for a freeride board that will float in europe but will handle icy, hard pack, and wet uneven conditions in australia. Does this board provide good edge hold? I currently ride a typo (which is too soft). Thanks again

      Thanks, the edge hold of the PYL is pretty good, but I would also look at the Korua Shapes Transition Finder as a stiffer more serious option ua-cam.com/video/pDW03DkFk-M/v-deo.html

    Did you also ride the Burton Hometown hero? If so, how do they compare?

      Not yet, but it is on the to-do list, hopefully in a few weeks.

    Would you get this or the never summer harpoon? Thinking about getting either of those boards. I want to get a two board quiver, something freeride/powder and something like a daily driver soft all mountain freestyle board, any recommendations?

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  7 місяців тому

      Depends how much of a fan you are of camber boards. Realistically, both will do all the sort of riding you mentioned, you might not even have to get a soft all mountain freestyle board.
      Harpoon is tons more fun overall, grip when you need it, easy to move but still has a serious enough tail to handle everything. PYL is softer than I expected, if you wanted it to ride steeper terrain maybe the Uninc PYL might be stiffer.

      I have ridden it, but I didn't really get enough footage to make a proper video - I enjoyed it, it had a very similar feel to the old twin Salomon Ultimate Ride which I have a video of. A pretty safe board for riding everything.

      @@SnowboardRobot Nice, thanks! How do you think the PYL stands up to the Mercury?

    Compare with the mercury, what’s the difference between 2 boards?

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 роки тому +1

      Roughly a similar camber to rocker profile on both, but the PYL is softer and tapered, so it will float a bit better in powder, and doesn't need much effort at all to ride if you don't always want to push it hard.

    Hi Lachy, thanks for another great review. I think it would be helpful if you also add your stance details in your reviews. For example, does the PYL being a regular width make you adapt your back foot degrees or do you ride the same stance in all your boards? the width is also relevant to me. I have experienced that some yes boards may behave really differently depending on the width of your stance since it has a direct effect on having more or less camber under your feet, as well as having more or less edge grip depending on the distance between your feet and the edge disruptions. This is just a suggestion which I think may help people like me, I already love your content

      Yeah good idea, I forget to re-mention everything in each video, but I will add it. I don't have the exact measurements for the PYL, but on almost every board I ride I have the back foot set on the reference point, and the front foot one set of inserts narrower than reference. For most boards that ends up around 21.5" or something like that. Even with the fancy edge changes, I really don't think they are doing anything that noticeable, nothing that the 20mm or so inserts distance will change.

      @@SnowboardRobot Great, thanks for your response! I am worried about the PYL width on the back foot if you set it to lets say -3 /-5 degrees.
      I own a 2023 Greats 154, Hybrid DCP 2022 153, and a 2023 Standard Uninc 156.
      My stats are 5'10", 165-170 lbs, 27,5 feet size with 9,5 US Salomon HIFI boots or 10 US in 32 boots.
      I really noticed how a 2 cm in stance width difference can make it or break it with the Standard Uninc (maybe because of the width of the board).
      My experience is that narrower stances (21.5), work very well with the width, camber profile, and edge in YES boards I own.
      I think narrower stances set you more on the camber zone providing more control, easier flat base tracking/stability, and better edge hold.
      Narrowing the stance on the greats uninc from 22.5 to 21.5 also made the board more stable in my case. I ride with + - 12 degrees.
      Now that was a lot of nerdiness on YES tech but it really mirrors my humble experience. I started riding a board in 1994 and I consider myself an advanced rider, riding mostly hard-icy conditions.

    eyeing the PYL UnInc to compliment my dancehaul this season

  • @hussainbellal
    @hussainbellal 10 місяців тому

    How does this compare to the UnInc in trees?
    Also, i heard most ppl size up on the regular pyl, as someone who likes trees, i prefer a shorter easier to turn board. I normally stick around the 55/56 range, but i am sz 10.5 around 180lbs. Think id be underboarded on the 56?

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  10 місяців тому +1

      You could easily ride bigger than 156 if you wanted, the 159 didn't feel like a big board to me. This was nicer than the Greats in the trees, quicker and smoother to turn.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 роки тому

      I haven't been on the TwinPig yet, even though it has some similar features (wide/twin/asym) I would expect the Ride board to have a solid but damper feel. It is still high on the list to try out.

    Compared with the transition finder, which one do you prefer for powder, trees, and carving on groomers? Thanks!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  Рік тому +1

      Good question - Although it needs a lot more effort/work, I would use the Transition Finder for powder and carving on groomers. The PYL is a lot easier to ride though, so it could be a good option, especially if you aren't trying to get way over on your edges, which is where the width on the Korua will help.

      Thanks! Quite a few actually - Korua Shapes Otto and Tranny Finder Plus, Telos Ranquet, Legend and DST, Never Summer Shaper Twin and Proto Ultra, Season Nexus, Nitro Cannon. There are a lot more I rode but didn't film with, so I will have written reviews for the Burton Custom, Custom X, Territory Manager, Jones Tweaker, Aviator 2.0, Mind Expander Twin, Nitro Team Pro and the Capita Super DOA.
